Today we welcomed the devine Ollie to Lucky Lap Dogs 🤩

Isn’t that coat amazing! 🤯

His mum does such a good job with the brushing at home, keeping the knots at bay, which means that I just have to add the shuzsh when he gets here - and he came out shuzshed all right!

He’s coming back every four weeks too, which is good news for me and GRRREAT news for Ollie 🐾🥰

I love it when Rosie comes to play, because she is as it says on the package - a pretty princess! 👑 😍

This week she just came in for a spruce up - face tidy, hygiene clip and bath & brush up and in this case, a photoshoot 😉📸 and then in three weeks time she’ll be back for a full haircut - regular maintenance is the key to a happy and healthy pooch!

Scheduled care is optimal care!

I’ve been saying this for years and this week received some feedback from one of my long term clients from the Blue Mountains to back up the fact - Suki is now a cancer survivor and I’m pleased to have had something to do with that.

From Suki’s Dad:

“I wanted to pass along my sincere thanks for bringing to my attention the lump on Suki’s bum. I took her to her vet on the next opportunity and was told she had a**l sac cancer and was given 3 months life expectancy.

I immediately found a cancer care book and implemented the vet author’s recommendations. Almost 6 months later, Suki’s still with us without the trauma of invasive treatments.

Had you not pointed out what you saw, we would have been unaware Suki had a problem. Suki’s 13 in September, so reaching her old age though still enjoying her activities.”

Our very first pooch ever was Charlie the photogenic Cavvie and he belongs to my high school chum Jeanie!

We’ve known each other since we were 13 and that right there is one of the best things about moving home - getting to see these old friends again and getting to spruce up their pooches too! 🤯

My first bit of official feedback from a beautiful family travelling around Australia in a purple bus!!

They are on their way toward Cooktown but the pooch was feeling dusty - not anymore! 🐩

He’s catching a well deserved snooze at the back of the bus and anyway, who could resist a last minute booking from a toy poodle called Waffle! 😂

… and I’ve just realised I could almost stock a pantry from the names of dogs I’ve groomed that are food 😂

Had the tester pooch in yesterday to give the new setup a go over!

She seems pretty happy - meet the folks’ doggie, Rosie - sure to be a regular feature on the Lucky Lap Dogs page and she is sitting on an Accell Therapy mat!

I have leaky eyes today 🥹

It is Klipt Kanines last day of operation today and it has been an absolute privilege and soul-touching pleasure to have been trusted to care for the pooches of the Blue Mountains (over 20,000 times!) over the 16 years - it seems hard to believe that my Blue Mountains dog grooming adventure is ending, today!

Thank you Blue Mountains community - it has been a wonderful journey 🙏🐾

After 16 years of operation Klipt Kanines’ lease finishes up and is closing down for good at the end of June, but don’t despair - we’ve got you covered for one more booking if needed, even if it’s just for old times sake!

Klipt Kanines doesn’t usually have Saturday appointments available all Willy-Nilly! 😂

Those suckers are mostly gone months in advance but by a strange quirk of timing, Saturday next week the 16th @ 9am has become wide open for anyone with a hot dog 🌭 🐾

Previous clients always welcome, even if you’ve moved onto a different groomer who might have gone on maternity leave… d’oh, totes awks!

We see Lala and her English Bulldog sister, Cali most weeks for Splash and Dash for Dogs appointments, which not only keeps them smelling great and feeling clean all month long, it gives us a chance to keep all their nooks and crannies taken care of! 😍🫧🐾

🎄🐾A Klipt Kanines Kristmas Miracle!🐾🎄

Timing in life is so incredible right?!

Like, I’m talking how when you leave home to get dinner at just the right time to witness a disturbance and serendipitously intervene but if you’d walked out the door 30 seconds later or someone hadn’t already triggered the traffic light sensor at the intersection or you hadn’t made the last minute decision to go a different route to the takeaway - any of these minute changes would have meant missing coming around the corner in the car, to see a tall Staffy-type puppy standing in the middle of the road, with a pink collar on and a lead dragging behind her and the look of terror in her eyes you could see from half-way down the street.

Straightaway I’m having flashbacks to when Isobella-lulla Anne, my beautiful little poodle 🐩 got hit by a car all those years ago when I was living in Pyrmont and I had to get the guy to REVERSE OFF HER - but that’s a traumatic memory that’s best left buried!

Anyhoo, quick thinking Robbie jumps out to try and grab the Staffy but she takes off across the road and it is so busy with cars and all this is happening at a busy intersection of a carpark, a bridge and the main street of Wentworth Falls!!

I slowly nose the car forward and she is just so frightened with a wild darting look in her eye, obviously preparing to play chicken with the traffic.

I turn the corner into Station Street and amazingly, a couple of available parks were there that I could nose into - fully aware that I was backing up traffic coming over the bridge behind me!

I quickly flick the hazard lights on so the folks behind me knew something was amiss.

At this stage I’m just following my instincts and I lean over and push open the front passenger door open and call out to this beautiful scared pooch “Heya honey! Jump in here beautiful!”

AND SHE DID!!! 🤯🐾🤯🐾🤯

Thank to the scent of 15 years worth of dogs, she jumped straight into the front seat and then into the back!

By this stage I got people honking behind me but I stretch over and somehow succeed in getting the passenger door closed again from the drivers seat, hoping I’m not about to get my face chewed off by a frightened vicious dog but she was so grateful she wasn’t getting out in a hurry! 😂🐾

Even once her Mum, who must have lost control of her lead just prior to the big adventure is running down the road, sobbing and probably not believing her eyes at what she’s just witnessed - I still can’t believe it all went down like that!!!

Mumma and pooch reunited, with a Christmas miracle to talk about for years to come! 🎄🐾 🙌

As I clipped this fella down yesterday for his first ever haircut I felt like it must be how renovators feel when they rip up carpets to find expensive hardwood floors!

The transformation happening before my eyes was an experience I’ve never felt before - like finding treasure! 🤩

Plus, we were mates by the end ❤️🐾 and I suspect he was in for a world of lovin’ when he got home to his girls!!

So, I’m exploring other avenues for when my mountains dog grooming adventure is finishing up at end of the Klipt Kanines commercial lease in June 2024 - after 16 years of operating this beautiful little business, and working with so many little furry clients over the years, it’s time to explore a couple of other talents I happen to have - singing being one of them! 🐾 🔜 🎤🤞😉 I’ve been honing my craft recently at a local ‘open mic’ night and have been thinking about ways to make this little talent work for me in the future but while I’m puzzling it out, I thought I’d share this gift with my Klipt Kanines patrons and start spreading the news, so to speak 😆🗽 This is me on Thursday night singing “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables” from the musical Les Mis - it’s a song that is dear to my heart and one I have been singing since I first discovered musicals as a teenager - please enjoy! … and also, come see my cabaret in 2024! 🤯 … more news on that exciting development soon 🤩 🎹 🎶
