Social distancing applies to dog parks too!

This evening I walked past a popular off leash dog park and was horrified to see a group of about 30 dog owners standing close together having a group chat while their dogs romped around.

COVID -19 is serious business - PLEASE listen to the experts and respect the need for us all to stay at least 1.5m away from other people.

It is OK to spend some time outside provided you distance yourself from other people and avoid busy areas like shopping strips and busy streets.

Exercise is very important for your dog’s physical and mental wellbeing, so it’s a good opportunity to have walks together but PLEASE stop the dog group catch ups for now..

We must work together to create distance between us to help slow the spread of the disease.

I know it’s hard and I am also finding it a very difficult and stressful time but we must do this together in order to get out the other side.

Dog owners please unite on this 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶

The occasion of getting a new puppy or dog should be just as joyous as bringing a much-wanted and long-anticipated baby into the world. In the best of possible worlds, the dog's new family is welcoming, loving, and eager to learn as much as possible about and share as much as possible with the lates...

We can learn a lot from the incredible love and compassion that animals show other living beings. Unlike us, they don’t let fear, jealousy and pride muddle their feelings of love and empathy; when they care for someone, they do so wholeheartedly. Their pure expressions of love and selflessness oft...

Introducing Delta Dan (left) and Delta Dot (right). They’re raring to get back to work, helping young kids learn how to read dogs body language and when to leave dogs alone, when and how to pat a dog safely and what to do if approached by a dog. Over 70,000 children in Tasmania have enjoyed a Delta Dog Safe visit to their school or childcare centre and Dan and Dot can’t wait to make that number grow! The program is fully funded by the Department of Health, there's no cost to schools or students. Please share this post with any early childhood teachers and child carers that you know! BOOKINGS can be made online at deltadogsafetas.org.au or email [email protected]

Despite being 90 years old and receiving a life-threatening diagnosis, the beautiful Miss Norma was still full of life. Just days after her husband’s passing, she received a hard diagnose, too. However, Norma decided she doesn’t want to see the inside of any more hospitals, but to see the world,...

A craft beer company called Saltwater Brewery in Delray has created edible six-pack rings that feed marine life rather than harm/kill it. According to Ecowatch, 80% of the plastic humans throw away ends up in the ocean. Moreover, 40% of the Earth’s total ocean mass is now covered in plastic. Green...

Is your dog on the list

These days, you will find almost everyone owning a dog and taking it for a walk. However, there are dozens of breeds of dogs that we will not see taking a stroll on the sidewalk. There are so many rare breeds of dogs that we have never heard of but are found in different locales

S is for Sunday. It's also for STUPID! I have 30kg of dog on a lead & half way across my street when 2 off lead Aussie Shepherds rush up and surround us. No owners in sight. So now I have to manage my 30kg of dog & your two as well while you are nowhere to be seen. Eventually you come back & call them, without so much as an apology.

A couple of people stopped to watch & help if necessary. I was grateful. So, here's what's in store for you if you keep letting your dogs rush at people & dogs on lead. Not all dogs are as forgiving as mine & not all people are good dog handlers.

- If your dogs hurt someone, you will be liable.
- If your dogs hurt another dog, you will be paying vet bills.
- Not all dogs like other dogs - your dogs will get hurt.
- If your dogs cause a car accident, you are liable.
- You could be fined for having a dog at large.
- People become frightened & could hurt your dog.

Stop being stupid & put your dog on a lead! If there are no signs, it means Dogs ON Lead. Did you know a survey by Guide Dogs Australia revealed that 40% of guide dog handlers surveyed said their guide dog had been attacked by another dog while it was working? That's crazy! Grrrr
