🌞 Important Reminder: Heat Stroke in Dogs 🌞

As temperatures rise, it's crucial to keep an eye on our furry friends to ensure they stay safe and healthy. Heat stroke can be life-threatening for dogs,

Prevention Tips:
Provide plenty of fresh, cool water at all times
Avoid walking during the hottest parts of the day
Ensure they have access to shade or cool areas
Never leave your dog in a parked car
Use cooling mats or damp towels for them to lie on

If you suspect your dog is suffering from heat stroke, move them to a cooler place immediately and contact us.

🐾 Marley's Visit to our Bradbury Clinic 🐾

We recently had the pleasure of seeing Marley, the sweetest Border Collie pup, at our Bradbury clinic. Marley came in limping, which had his owners understandably concerned. Dr. Paulo took great care of him and, after some X-rays to rule out any fractures, thankfully there were none visible on X-ray.

With a bit of pain relief, Marley was able to head back home, where he can rest up and get back to his playful self. We're so glad to have been able to help this brave pup and ease his discomfort.

🐾 Bela's Visit to our Gregory Hills Clinic 🐾

We had the pleasure of seeing Bela, the adorable little Cavoodle, at our Gregory Hills clinic recently. Bela came in for the removal of her deciduous teeth, along with a scale and polish. She was incredibly brave throughout the entire procedure, and her sweet demeanor won the hearts of everyone here!

Now, Bela is all set with her sparkling, healthy teeth and ready to flash her beautiful smile. We're so proud of her and grateful to her owners for entrusting us with her care.

🐶 Hugo's Visit to our Camden Clinic 🐶

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Hugo, to our Camden clinic for a dental procedure. Hugo was such a brave boy throughout the entire process, and his charming personality made him an instant favorite among our staff.

With the dental work done, Hugo is now feeling much better and ready to show off his pearly whites. Proper dental care is crucial for our pets' overall health, and we're thrilled to have helped Hugo maintain that bright, healthy smile.

🦢 Swan Rescue Story 🦢

Recently, we had a swan brought into our Bradbury clinic after an unfortunate encounter with a fishing hook that had lodged in the back of its mouth. With a bit of care, a short anaesthetic, pain relief, and antibiotics, our team successfully retrieved the hook.

We're happy to report that this beautiful swan is now in the capable hands of one of our dedicated WIRES carers, who will continue its rehabilitation until it's ready to be released back where it belongs.

A reminder to all fishermen: Please ensure you take all your tackle back home with you to prevent similar mishaps in the future. Let's keep our wildlife safe and our environment clean.

Thank you to everyone involved in this rescue and recovery process. Let's all do our part to protect our wildlife.

🌞🌞Hot days are on their way, and it's important to remember that our furry friends are vulnerable to heat stroke. Let's keep our dogs safe this summer season by taking a few simple steps:

Provide Plenty of Water: Ensure they have access to fresh water at all times.

As we farewell 2022 we also say a sad farewell to Aleena who has been part of the Macarthur Vet Group family for over 19years 😥
Many of you have watched Aleena go from a junior nurse, to a senior/leader nurse before moving
into a more administrative role working behind the scenes to keep MVG running smoothly.
We wish her nothing but the best as she enters her next chapter which we know will be filled with excitement and adventure.
The clinic will not be the same without you!!

TICKS ARE ABOUT

Meet Pippa who was brought into the clinic after her owners noticed she was having difficulty using her hind legs. On examination it was discovered that Pippa had a paralysis tick.
The paralysis tick (Ixodes holocyclus) is a small, eight-legged tick that produces a potent toxin. This toxin causes paralysis in dogs and cats, and is potentially fatal.
Signs of tick paralysis for both dogs and cats include -Change in bark or meow
-Increased or laboured breathing
-Coughing
-Excessive salivation
-Vomiting or regurgitation
-Weakness in the hind legs, which typically progresses to involve the forelimbs also
-Reluctance to get up or walk

Pippa spent some time in hospital and was given treatment for her tick paralysis and is luckily on her way to recovery.
At the moment Australia is currently experiencing a tick anti serum shortage which means even more so now prevention is better than cure.
