All that’s left of the kangaroos that were killed here at Red Hill Nature Reserve last night 💔

Kangaroo families were hunted down in their homes and killed just for existing. Mothers were shot and joeys bashed to death 😣

Is this really how we are treating our beautiful native animals?

This little kangaroo is no longer alive. Killed for existing in a Canberra nature reserve - Aranda Bushlands - in the early hours of 3 July 2025. It's hard to fathom what motivation a mature, grown human being could find within themselves to s***f out the life of a little animal like this, sheltering near a tree after gunfire had been unleashed in their normally peaceful surroundings.
Canberra politicians - Members of the ACT Legislative Assembly - probably find it a bit easier...although they must bear responsibility for these atrocities, they find it easier to turn away and cast responsibility on to others. SHAME.💔💔💔
Thank you to kangaroo defenders who recorded this awful night where kangaroos fled in terror from a quad bike armed with humans intent on wiping them out. SHAME. 💔💔💔

Last night ACT Government shooters were out killing kangaroos at Aranda Bushland Nature Reserve late into the night. Kangaroo advocates were stationed around the outside of the reserve bearing witness to it all.

At one point in the night this young kangaroo was spotted all alone lying under a big tree and seemed to lay there for many hours clearly feeling in shock at seeing his/her family members be shot and killed. As it’s illegal for anyone to enter a reserve during shooting, with significant fines used as a deterrent, there was sadly nothing that could be done.

This morning kangaroo advocates searched the reserve for any sign of this poor kangaroo and all that was found at the base of the tree was a pool of blood 💔

To add to the distress - footage was captured of kangaroos fleeing for their lives as the shooter’s quad bike circled around them scaring them deeper into the reserve so that they could be shot and killed.

To experience a hug like this. Now that is really special. Thank you for sharing. ❤❤❤

Raised as a baby 5 years ago, Nullah runs free but returns to show love occasionally. There is nothing in this world like a kangaroo hug. It is genuine and it affects every cell in your body. They are natural healers 🦘

This year 2981 kangaroos and hundreds of joeys are going to be killed across 16 nature reserves in Canberra. Kangaroo families destroyed. Mothers and joeys killed.

We have set up a quick and easy way for our supporters to email ACT's Chief Minister, Andrew Barr, and the Minister for Environment, Suzanne Orr to demand an end to the unjustified and undeniably cruel annual kangaroo slaughter.

Head to the link to send your email now ‼️

Defending the lives of Canberra's kangaroos by pushing for an end to the ACT Government's annual cull during the cold winter months. Over the last 15 years thousands of joeys have had their heads bashed in by wooden mallets. Since the cull's inception, over 30,000 kangaroos have been shot and killed...

ACT Labor politicians don't really like being reminded about their kangaroo ''culls''. They are always very keen to remind people that it's the ACT Conservator who declares how many kangaroos will be killed each year. They seem to forget that they have voted to provide a BUDGET for this ''program'' every year. Stop the money, stop the ''cull.'' Please remind them of this and email them:

Many of our followers have written to Canberra Members of the Legislative Assembly. (The ACT's local politicians). Here is a quote from the response Jennifer received.

"Culling operations are undertaken with the deepest respect to the animal's welfare and their connection with the land.''

Seriously. In other words, we have to kill you ''respectfully''. Just how is that done? Is blowing the brains out of an animal the way this is done?

Then, we have to drag your babies out of their dead mothers' bodies and smash their heads in.

This is NOT how you treat an animal with deepest respect for their welfare. It is certainly not about showing respect for their connection with the land...other than to bury them in it after you have robbed them of their right to exist. 💔💔💔🦘

Callum Brae is a Canberra nature reserve where the kangaroos are very flighty and fearful of humans. This is unsurprising as these kangaroos, who have every right to graze peacefully on this land, have been terrorised and killed year after year. Last night, their quiet habitat was invaded yet again by humans who would do them harm. We fear for them and this little kangaroo who was the only kangaroo to remain in my presence after her mob had taken flight, following a previous attack on kangaroos in this nature reserve. Feeling sad about their plight, I lifted my head and saw her gazing at me. I hope she and some of her mob survived last night's onslaught of bullets. Many would not have. 💔🦘🦘
