**Urgent Appeal for Funds: Rescue Dingo in Need!**

We’re reaching out to our compassionate community with an urgent plea for help. A young female dingo was recently found wandering in our local area, captured by our dedicated rangers. Unfortunately, she has no microchip, she is not desexed, and likely hasn’t been vaccinated. To make matters worse, she is infested with fleas and only has 7 days left in the local pound before she faces an uncertain future.

This dingo is in desperate need of a safe haven. With the dingo breeding season approaching, it’s crucial that we have her desexed as soon as possible. We need to build her an escape-proof enclosure to ensure her safety and well-being before we can take her into care, and we are thrilled to share that GBWC - Granite Belt Wildlife Carers Inc. has generously loaned us materials for this enclosure. However, we must replace these materials back to GBWC once we have the funds.

We have volunteers ready to help us construct the escape proof enclosure, but we urgently need funds to cover the costs for her enclosure, desexing, microchipping, vaccinations, and the materials needed to build her shelter. Our finances are running low, and time is of the essence!

Please, if you can help us cover these vital expenses, we would be immensely grateful. Together, we can provide this sweet girl with the safety and care she desperately needs before next Tuesday. Every little bit counts, and your support can make a difference in her life.

Thank you for considering this urgent request. Let’s come together to rescue this beautiful dingo and give her a chance at a loving future! 🐾❤️

Happy New Year !

Reflecting on the year that’s been I find myself feeling grateful for all the wonderful, kind people I have met as well as their unique and amazing dogs.

I genuinely love dogs, all of them and, I suspect I’m not alone. That human- canine bond is an intriguing one. What is it about that furry face that is so mesmerising? Why do we invest our time, money and affection on these pooping, chewing, barking hurricanes of joy.

I don’t know the actual answer however I do know the attraction spans the ages, continents and many cultures and at times feels hardwired into some of us.

I do feel loving dogs, and any animal for that matter shows humanity at its best. Making us more compassionate of difference, vulnerability and even more attuned to those who share our planet and our own personal journey.

Life for many of us is better for loving dogs. They ease our loneliness and isolation, they are indifferent to wealth, disability, size, age or skin colour. All they need is our protection, kindness and company. In a world that is marching forward into a new level of detachment from the natural world and each other it could be dogs that help us stay grounded in the values that save us from ourselves.

Hold your dogs close and have a wonderful 2025. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

This is beautiful, gentle Lulu. She has had a difficult time. In her previous home she was under attack from other dogs, rarely went outside, never had her nails cut and her teeth were all rotten. It was grim for Lulu.

Fortunately she now has an amazing new family who just love her to bits. We are working on Lulu’s chronic self-soothing (licking her leg until it’s an open wound). We are getting her habitualised to everyday sights and sounds and helping her with her fear of the car.

Her new mum and dad have all the love and patience in the world and I feel really positive Lulu is going flourish in the coming months.

Love this beautiful boy, Barney.

Happy 4th birthday to all our Covid pups. Almost four years free from isolation and confinement for all of us.

However there are some folks out there with dogs like Barney who are struggling to deal with their dogs reactivity, in fact it may even be getting worse. Regardless of the type of reactivity your dog is experiencing (excitement, uncertainty or fear) there are strategies which can assist you.

If you are one of these people reach out for help and make a positive change for your dog and yourself.

Back from my break to help Bella and Busta.

Together these two are close to 100 kg of hybrid vigour. Developed in Australia for hunting pigs these dogs are very strong and fast however maybe somewhat of a surprise how gentle they can be with people and children.

They love to follow a scent and can be very strong pullers so we are working on some loose lead walking techniques for when the family come in to town.

This beautiful pup is Mala. Mala was born in the Solomon Islands. She grew up on the streets and watched her brothers and sisters get taken by eagles. She had a badly broken leg but was lucky to survive.

Life in Canberra is pretty good and she loves her new 3 month old baby brother.

We are working on building her confidence around other dogs and reducing her reactive outbursts so she can take long walks next to the pram.

This gorgous boy Junior has been a terror to walk. He looks scary when he is lunging at pedestrians, prams and pushies but underneath all his bravo he is actually unsure and a little scared.

He is such a strong puller he has pulled his mum over several times and when he gets free he heads for home like a bullet train.

We worked on building mum and Junior’s confidence today so they can both have more fun on their outdoor adventures.

Updated- Sniffy is out of the woods and has survived a snake bite. What a huge blessing.

Our love and best wishes go out to Sniffy, Ruby, Drew and family.

Sniffy didnt make it to class today because a few days ago he was bitten by a brown snake in his own back garden in Braidwood. Sniffy is not out of the woods yet and we are thinking positive thoughts for a full and speedy recovery.

Snakes are on the move. Please keep an eye on your dogs as getting them to a vet quickly can make all the difference. Here are some things to look for…

An initial collapse and vomiting (sometime this is followed by apparent recovery but indicates a potentially lethal bite)

Dilated pupils

Purple gum colour

Drooling and panting excessively

Trembling

Weak and wobbly in back legs or unable to rise

Red or brown coloured urine

Alternatively, your pet may develop delayed symptoms such as lethargy, vomiting and weight loss with muscle wastage

I love this furry house elf, Dobby. He has just gone through a fear period. If your young dog suddenly begins to startle easily or becomes more worried than usual, they may be experiencing a fear period. Keep their life simple and safe for a few weeks to reduce the impact stressful events may have on them.
If fearfulness continues or aggressive behaviours emerge reach out for some professional help.

My favourite character from Winnie the Pooh was Tigger. He was bouncing around without a care, loving life and having fun. Today I was reminded of this wonderful A.A Milne character when I met Tommy. Boy can Tommy jump. We will go gently when we address Tommy’s jumping as we don’t want to reduce any of his joyful sparkle.
