Our wonderful colleagues at CVES are holding a First Aid and Triage training for pet parents, if you’d like to take part in this training, please contact them direct to secure your spot🥰

Pets come into our lives and change them forever ❤

Their ability to look after us, support us, love us, and be devoted to us without asking anything in return is heart-warming. However, it doesn't mean we don't owe them anything. As their caretakers and, without exaggeration, their parents it is our obligation to look after them too, care for them too, love them too, and advocate for their needs in all situations.

That's why, we are proud to announce we are launching our third First Aid and Triage training for pet parents on the 12th of April! Leisa, our Client Care Manager, and Eric, our Acting Nurse Manager, will teach you everything you need to know! Because while veterinary professionals are your pets' clinicians, YOU are their first line of defense. Equip yourself with the right knowledge to help your pets when they need you most.

Read full details of the event and buy your tickets here https://events.humanitix.com/first-aid-and-triage-training-for-pet-parents

As always, we will be donating all profits to charity. This time the funds will go to In The Park . Their amazing team of volunteers is extremely needed by society these days. Recognizing the pressures and challenges of the modern economy, they provide free veterinary care to the pets of people experiencing homelessness.

It is an absolute win-win situation! Learning new needed information in an entertaining and easy-to-digest way while making a positive difference in our community.

Share this post if you can! We would love to see as many people as we can! 🐾✨

UPDATE 29.12.24. We are back to normal operation. Thank you for everyone’s support!
Please call the clinic on 6225 7257 if you need vet assistance.

Dear pet parents of Canberra and surrounds!

Unfortunately due to the high number of hospital patients (including critical patients who require emergency surgeries) and over 10 consults currently awaiting assessment, our clinic has to go on bypass. This means that we are not able to see any patients tonight.

As we were the last and only ECC vet seeing consultations tonight, this means that all further presenting patients will be diverted to Sydney as the closest location with available ECC veterinarians seeing patients.

If you believe your animal requires veterinary assistance tonight, please contact the clinic on 6225 7257 to receive triage advice.
You are also welcome to contact the following Sydney clinics who will be able to assist you tonight

SASH North Ryde:
24/7 including public holidays
Ph: (02) 9889 0289
Address: 1 Richardson Place, North Ryde NSW

Northside Emergency Veterinary Service
24/7 including public holidays
Ph: (02) 9452 2933
Address: 16 Myoora Road, Terrey Hills NSW

We will resume our normal function tomorrow.

Our team appreciates your kindness and understanding in this situation.

Regards,
Canberra Veterinary Emergency Service.

🎄Merry Christmas to all our wonderful clients and your beautiful pets!🎄

We hope you all have a safe and happy Christmas! To make sure that your pet does too - keep these things off the menu!

- grapes/raisins/sultanas 🍇
- cooked bones 🦴
- fatty foods in excess (like ham) 🍖
- garlic & onions 🧅
- chocolate 🍫
- lilies (deadly for cats - just getting pollen on their fur is enough to be life threatening!) 🌸

& of course make sure your furry friends are up to date with tick prevention if you're heading to the coast! 🕷

If you have any concerns, please contact our amazing colleagues at CVES- 6225 7257

Merry Christmas from all the GVH team! 🎅

Update* - We have found a compatible donor. Thank you everyone ❤️

Doberman and Dalmatian owners 🚨🚨

Due to a rare blood type found in Doberman breeds that can cause them to be incompatible with most universal blood types found in our usual donor breeds, we are currently in URGENT need of a canine blood donor, ideally of Doberman or Dalmatian breed to help a very sick patient 🐶

They must also meet the following criteria to be able to donate:
- between the ages of 2 and 8 years
- weighing over 25kgs
- up to date with all vaccinations and parasite preventions
- in good overall health
- have not donated blood in at least 3 months

Our donor dogs receive a full health and blood check before donating and you will receive a large bag of food and some yummy treats as a thank you.

If you think your dog could help, please call reception to have a chat with one of our friendly staff members on (02)6280 6344.
