Please be extra kind to the amazing CVES team if you have an emergency with your pets today, they are very short staffed. Please read below.

Dear pet parents of Canberra!

Unfortunately, we are experiencing a lot of difficulties with our roster today. Due to multiple staff sicknesses, we tried our best to remain open and cover the shifts that needed to be covered. We thank our amazing team who came together and picked up some extra hours in order to help animals and people in need.

Yet, we are still understaffed in our veterinary department. We do not have either consulting or procedures veterinarians rostered today, meaning 1 hospital vet will be responsible for the entire patient load (walk-ins, GP veterinarians transfers, and already hospitalised patients). As this is a lot of pressure for only 1 person, we have to limit our consultation capacity for today. This will mean we are only seeing critical patients today.

But please, do not worry. Our wonderful and skilled nurse and client care teams are here for you if you need veterinary assistance.

Do not hesitate to call us at 6225 7257 to have a detailed conversation with our team members. We will listen to your concerns and create a plan together to help you determine what is the best course of action for you and your pet.

As always, we thank you for being kind and respectful towards our hard-working team.

Stay safe!

After a massive week for the team doing extra shifts to cover their colleagues due to illness, today was special and bought the team lots of smiles and an overloading of cuteness with three sets of twins in! Yes, you read that right…….Twins x3 ❤️ we captured a serious and a funny picture of them to share with you with permission from their owners.

We could not resist lots of cuddles with these babies today.

Thank you to all our amazing clients for your understanding and compassion shown to the team with us having to reschedule your appointments🥰 We really appreciate you.

𝘜𝘗𝘋𝘈𝘛𝘌: 𝐂𝐋𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐌 🍃

We are still plotting along on our way to a more sustainable clinic 🌏

Here are a few changes we have made over the last couple of months.

♻️ Implemented a “Think Before you Print” policy to limit unnecessary or accidental paper usage
♻️ Providing E-Collars that are made out of 80% recycled materials & are 100% recyclable
♻️ Slowly converting to using more biodegradable consumables (i.e. examination gloves)

𝘿𝙞𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬… E-Collars are recyclable! If your pet is sent home with the “cone of shame”, once their recovery is completed, you can place them into your curb-side recycling bin… or better yet, store it away in case of another rainy day!

Our climate champions are currently working on more changes as we continue to expand our knowledge through completing the Vets for Climate Action program! 🌳

Yesterday our amazing team had a well deserved break to celebrate the season with a Christmas Lunch and a visit from Santa and his elf. There was so much food, fun and laughter with competitions for best decorated area and best song/skit, and a hilarious PowerPoint of our year, along with some special awards for staff and finishing off with secret Santa presents.

Thank you to our amazing team for their endless care for their patients, the long hours you do, and your compassion, kindness and support for each other.

We appreciate you all so much❤️

♻️Our Climate Care journey is progressing, and gee are we learning a lot! 🔎

❓Did you know that – An estimated 1 MILLION sea creatures are killed by marine waste every year…🐟🐠

🗑️This week a few of our superstar staff members conducted a waste audit to ensure that we were maximising our recycling potential & correctly separating all the waste generated in our clinic 🗑️

We filtered through all the gross (& extremely gross) 💉🩸💩 contents of our bins with our bare (gloved) hands to get to the bottom of our waste habits, which our results were extremely pleasing.

Our climate champions are now underway with research on more ways we can recycle different items used for our animal’s healthcare needs ♻️📚

Way to go team!
