Dear pet parents!

We are very sorry but unfortunately, our hospital has reached it's capacity at the moment. Our team is working with multiple critical patients trying to support them and their families during a very hard time.
We ask for your understanding and patience while our team works tirelessly to be there for those who need them most.

We kindly ask you to call 6225 7257 so our experienced Client Care and Nurse teams can provide an initial triage assessment in case your pet needs veterinary assistance too. We will provide you as much advice as possible to find a solution to your enquiry.
In case we can categorise your animal as stable, our teams will provide you all the support needed to find the best solution as we will only be accepting critical patients tonight.

We are all humans who love animals a lot, so please remember to treat us with respect and kindness as we just want to help pets who need us.

We hope you are staying safe tonight.
Please never hesitate to call and ask for advice if we can help.

Kindest regards,
Canberra Veterinary Emergency Service team.

Today is R U OK? Day……

R U OK? Day is so so important in our industry due to the pressures and long hours of the job, expectations of pet owners, exposure to trauma and having to say goodbye to much loved fur babies.

Our staff are so passionate about animals, that they always go above and beyond and sometimes forget to look after their own mental health and wellbeing.

When we notice a team member is having a hard time, not their usual self or just down, we always ask R U OK? and support them in anyway we can. On occasion coffee runs and snacks come into play for the whole team if the day hasn’t gone as planned!

So remember if you see someone having a hard time, stop and ask R U OK? and ensure you check in❤️

Our amazing team had a great night out on Saturday, it was so great to get dressed up and let our hair down😍 This year our mid year function was held at Luna Bar. It was such a great night out of socialising, laughter and lots of incredible food. Some of the team partied into the early hours of Sunday morning as we don’t get let out that often! Here are some pictures of our amazing night 🥰

Please be extra kind to the amazing CVES team if you have an emergency with your pets today, they are very short staffed. Please read below.

Dear pet parents of Canberra!

Unfortunately, we are experiencing a lot of difficulties with our roster today. Due to multiple staff sicknesses, we tried our best to remain open and cover the shifts that needed to be covered. We thank our amazing team who came together and picked up some extra hours in order to help animals and people in need.

Yet, we are still understaffed in our veterinary department. We do not have either consulting or procedures veterinarians rostered today, meaning 1 hospital vet will be responsible for the entire patient load (walk-ins, GP veterinarians transfers, and already hospitalised patients). As this is a lot of pressure for only 1 person, we have to limit our consultation capacity for today. This will mean we are only seeing critical patients today.

But please, do not worry. Our wonderful and skilled nurse and client care teams are here for you if you need veterinary assistance.

Do not hesitate to call us at 6225 7257 to have a detailed conversation with our team members. We will listen to your concerns and create a plan together to help you determine what is the best course of action for you and your pet.

As always, we thank you for being kind and respectful towards our hard-working team.

Stay safe!

After a massive week for the team doing extra shifts to cover their colleagues due to illness, today was special and bought the team lots of smiles and an overloading of cuteness with three sets of twins in! Yes, you read that right…….Twins x3 ❤️ we captured a serious and a funny picture of them to share with you with permission from their owners.

We could not resist lots of cuddles with these babies today.

Thank you to all our amazing clients for your understanding and compassion shown to the team with us having to reschedule your appointments🥰 We really appreciate you.
