Every day is a school day! Dr Hayley, Dr AJ, and nurse Bec had a great time learning at the Bain Fallon conference last week, the biggest week of equine veterinary continuing education in the Southern Hemisphere! With separate streams for vets and nurses there were plenty of lectures and practical sessions - they look forward to sharing their knowledge with the team, and of course our equine patients.

Thank you to the Equine Veterinarians Association branch of the Australian Veterinary Association for hosting a wonderful event, and to Interpath 4cyte for sponsoring Dr Hayley through their 'Young Members' scholarship for commitment to the equine veterinary profession.

Patient update......Lovely "Lani" 🩷

The Canberra Equine Hospital would like to share another recent patient success story. This time, it's a stunning Appaloosa Mare called Lani.
In March, Lani's owners brought her into our hospital with concerns related to a respiratory noise.
Following consultations with our vets and the use of our Gastroscope to evaluate her airways, surgery was deemed necessary.
Lani underwent a Tracheotomy and Laryngotomy to examine her Laryngeal tissue and gather samples for Histopathology, with the expertise of specialist surgeon Dr. Hadley Willsallen, our veterinarian/anaesthetist Dr Hayley Lambe & nursing team.
Lani spent time recovering & being monitored in the our clinic, as she required ongoing medication & was fitted with a tracheostomy tube allowing her to breathe post surgery.
Two months later, Lani has made a remarkable recovery, as evidenced by a recent follow-up check and routine dental visit.
Her owners have kept us updated on her progress, including her energetic paddock runs, enjoying ba****ck rides and her love of food.
Our staff formed a strong bond with this gorgeous mare and her lovely owners during their daily visits to our facility.
