TEMPORARY CLOSURE of Vets At Amaroo! 🏥🩺

Vets at Amaroo is temporarily closing due to ongoing staffing challenges that are a result of the national veterinary industry shortage. Effective 23rd December 2023, our team will merge with our sister clinic Hall Veterinary Surgery and invite you to continue your pet's care with our friendly team until we reopen. Many of our clients may already have visited there before.🐶

We have made this difficult decision to ensure the wellbeing of our team, clients and patients. Hall Veterinary Surgery share our same high standards for patient care as well as our patient record system, so we can continue to access your pet's medical records without any interruption.😺

Continue your pet's care with us at Hall Veterinary Surgery

💉🐈Important Update for Cat Parents!🐈💉
Feline Vaccine Shortage - Due to supply chain issues after COVID, there's a shortage of feline vaccines in Australia, which is expected to continue until early 2024.

😺How we are planning for the vaccine shortage:
We're working tirelessly to secure more core vaccine doses, but the shortage remains. To make the most of the limited supply, we're consulting with feline experts and vaccine manufacturers to ensure we make the most of our limited supplies.

😺High-risk cats:
Our focus will be ensuring that previously unvaccinated kittens and adult cats deemed to be at higher risk are prioritised. Adult cats at risk include those immunocompromised or in high - challenge environments like boarding catteries, shelters, and cat shows.

😺Annual health check for your cat:
We urge all cat owners to schedule their cat's annual and semi-annual health check as usual to determine what approach we should be taking for your cat, as well as making sure we identify any health conditions or health concerns that may be present.

😺Don't delay health checks:
Cats can hide illness well, so don't delay this crucial connection with your cat's health experts.

😺What can we all do?:
We will continue to prioritise unvaccinated kittens and high-risk adult cats. Whilst we’re doing everything possible to ensure that those most in need receive vaccinations, we appreciate that this situation may cause inconvenience to some pet families. We thank you for your patience and cooperation while navigating this shortage. Know that we are working hard to get all your cat’s vaccinations back on track as soon as possible.

😺Let's plan together:
We're here to work with you on a personalised plan based on your cat’s needs.

😺Questions or concerns:
If you have questions or concerns about this vaccination shortage, don't hesitate to get in touch with our friendly staff to discuss your cat’s requirements.

Bunny cuteness, featuring the very loved Cappuccino at her recent vaccine visit!🐰😍 Rabbits make fantastic pets but are often thought to be less maintenance than dogs and cats, which isn't entirely true. Rabbits require large spaces to explore, supervised outdoor playtime, desexing, regular vaccines, rabbit specific diets, quality fresh hay and for some complex medical issues they may be referred to an exotic specialist vet too!

Today is international Wombat day!🐨🌎
Our staff love seeing the wombats that come through our clinic in the care of ACT Wildlife network. ACT Wildlife is a not-for-profit charity that rescues, rehabilitates and releases native animals, including wombats. The group of volunteers work with wombat mange, fostering young wombats and treating unwell and infected animals. Today we can appreciate and value these super cute marsupials! ❤️😍

We have officially treated our first snake bite of the season!🐍🐶

Thankfully jessie the terrier has since recovered and is now well and back home with her family. Thankfully her owners noticed the symptoms quickly and called our staff on the way to the clinic so the team could be ready for when she arrived!🏥💉

You may not always be able to avoid a snake encounter, but below are some tips to help prevent a snake from potentially harming your pet!🐾🐕

🐍Avoid areas with grass any longer than ankle height
🐍Always keep your dog on lead when walking
🐍Do not let your dog investigate off path/in long grass
🐍Consider building a cat enclosure for cats that like to venture outdoors
🐍Keep your backyard tidy, mowed and remove any rubbish that would make a nice hiding spot for a snake

For more information on what you can do to decrease the risk to your pets, read our 💕👨‍⚕️Snake Bites and Your Pet blog post here:💕👨‍⚕️
