With only one drop-in class left for 2024, and as we wind down for a break, I wanted to thank all of our wonderful clients for your amazing support during this first year of 'official' business.

I say this at the beginning of every class block but it is truly a privilege to work with each and every one of you and your beautiful dogs and I'm super proud of everything that teams have achieved this year.

There are some exciting plans in the pipeline for 2025, both in class offerings and my professional education. As you all know, it is very important to me that I bring you the very best coaching that I can and I can't wait to share with you all in the New Year.

In the meantime, enjoy a restful break with loved ones, furry and not so furry 🎅

Comet, Amy and a team of some of our wonderful students have spent the last two nights competing at the Tuggeranong Dog Training Club Novice Scent Work Trial.

Everyone did an amazing job with qualifying runs in all four elements and a few ribbons went home with some teams too 🥇🥈🥉

Trialling is a fun way to test where we are at in our training and we are so proud of how well everyone did, along with the support and encouragement we all shared together 👏

Well done team ❤️

Our next round of Scent Work Classes starts in just two weeks. We have something for everyone, regardless of where you are in your sniffing journey.

These are blocks (6 weeks) of progressive classes and the last lot of Scent Work sessions we will run for a while, given the potential welfare issues for dogs having to wait in cars as the weather gets hotter.

Don't worry, there will be other fun things on offer over the warmer months 🐾

🔴 Introduction to Scent Work for those who are brand new to the games.

🟠 Scent Work Elements for those that have started some scent work training and are looking to expand their searching skills - you may or may not intend to transition to odour at some stage.

🟣 Introduction to Odour for those interested in learning more about the sport of Nosework.

🔵 We have also teamed up with Canberra Nosework Training and are running drop in classes for teams that are already on odour. Book in for a one off or a few sessions, whatever suits you.

Here at Canberra Canine Training we use play-based training techniques, games and other fun activities to increase our dog’s confidence and build a solid foundation of trust and understanding between dog and human.

Canberra Nosework Training is hosting an ACSW NW1 (Nosework 1) trial on 29 September.

Volunteering is a great way to learn more about the sport and experience a trial environment while we are still preparing to trial ourselves.

It's also a great way to meet people and give back to your doggy community.

Reach out to John (details in the original post) if you think you might be able to lend a hand on the day.

Hello Nose work community,

We are hosting our very first ACSW NW1 (Nose Work 1) trial in Canberra on 29th of September 2024. We are looking for volunteers on the day. Without the volunteers, we will not be able to proceed with the trial. If you have done the trial before and have a few hours of free time on the day to help out, we love to hear from you. Also, if you are new to Scent work and want to see how the trial is conducted, how we manage dog reactive dogs and above all learn from the participants, you will no doubt be in the front row seat. No experience is required. Lunch will be provided on the day. Ideally, we will prefer you to be available to help the whole day (7am to 5pm). But if you can only be available half day, let us know if you can help in AM (7am - 12pm) or PM (12pm - 5pm).

The ACSW® acknowledge the time and assistance provided by volunteers. In recognition of your valuable contribution the ACSW® is offering one (1) volunteer free entry into an ACSW® event of their choice. To be eligible they must volunteer at a trial
for the entire event e.g. ‘all day’. We will conduct a draw for all volunteers that meet the above criteria at the end of the event.

To all local Scent Work trainers, please let your new scent work members know and encourage them to volunteers if they can. They can PM me or email me on [email protected]

Note: ACSW members can register to be a volunteer from member portal https://app.acsw.com.au/members/ #/
Non ACSW members can also volunteer, but you will need to sign a waiver on the day.
