Owning a goanna as a pet may seem like a crazy enterprise …… until you discover some goannas (monitors) only grow to be a few centimeters long!!
That’s right, there is a whole world of different reptile types out there and picking the right one for you is the first step.
Our shops in the ACT are actually allowed to retail just about any species you can think of, like this beautiful sand monitor. As a not for profit organisation concerned with the welfare of all reptiles, we strive to introduce the most suitable animal to the right person. Preventing animal abandonment starts with getting it right from the beginning.

DID YOU KNOW ? The ACT changed is licensing laws around owning reptiles. People no longer need to have kept a lizard to get a snake and so on.
The biggest change is that we are now able to keep display and help re home just about any species of reptile we want … ( no crocs or venomous snakes ).
If you want to know more or are just curious be sure to visit our stores in Kambah and Nicholls and we can help you understand licensing and husbandry needs for these precious animals ☺️

Kambah village is an amazing eclectic destination with our reptile shop, surrounded by a gaming store, a beer, brewing store, a vinyl store, and of course, Phat Head barbers. There is also a v**e store and a distillery.
The mural next to our shop for the old hobby store stood untouched for nearly 20 years. We hope that this new mural can do the same, especially as our big boss dusted off the cobwebs on his art supplies and painted this one himself , .

Party Host/Childcare Work
(Offsite and Onsite at Canberra Reptile Zoo)

We are looking for a party host/childrens entertainer to join our friendly team. You will be need to be confident in front of large groups of people and be able to hold the attention of children and adults alike. You will also need to be willing to work with animals.
Work will be primarily weekends with hours from 9am - 5pm. This will vary depending on bookings and may also allow for the possibility of more shifts for the right person including out of hours events.
The ideal candidate will:
• Be confident and bubbly
• Have some experience with childcare or entertainment
• Have or be willing to get a WWVP card as well as a current
police check.
• Possess an excellent work ethic
• Be confident speaking in front of large groups
• Have an excellent ability to multitask under sometimes
stressful conditions
• Be able to work in a team environment
• Have drivers licence and/or own reliable transport
• Willing to work after hours as well as some weekends

If this sounds like the right role for you then we look forward to hearing from you.
Previous experience as a childrens entertainer or working with children preferred but not essential. No experience required with reptiles as all training will be provided.

It’s time to retire some of our original snake racks to make way for some new stuff !!
These are only good for small species or hatchling and will need a thermostat but they are fully wired with heating cord.
If your interested P/u is at gold creek and price is negotiable …. Make a sensible offer :)
