This beautiful girl is a little nervous when it comes to being groomed. She’s just started on with me, only having had a couple of slow gentle grooms to get her more comfortable with the process and already her confidence around it all is starting to grow. Sometimes these pups just need a little extra care and patience. She’s such a sweetheart 🥹

Beautiful Herbie 💕

Over the last year or so I’ve been working with this little guy to build some trust and confidence around being groomed. Today we did a full groom without him exhibiting any signs of stress or discomfort 🥹 he has come so far!

At Peachy Paws we aim for every grooming experience to be as fear free as possible. If the dogs are uncomfortable they are given breaks or the session may even be cut short and moved to another day. We like to work with them in doing some co-operative grooming training in order to allow them to make choices throughout the experience and this also gives them the option to opt out if they want to as well. This build on trust and training does take time, especially if the dogs have been used to it being a ‘full on’ experience in the past.

A huge part of fear free grooming is having owners who are on board. It absolutely can be done and I have had amazing results using these techniques with very challenging dogs, but their owners must be on board with the regular appointments that are required for the training process. When done well, co-operative grooming and fear free grooming is just another social outing or even a big game to these dogs. Super proud of this guy and his humans 🧡

This beautiful girl is looking for her forever home! 🏡

Delilah has just passed her 450th day in care 💔

After finding her way to us through no fault of her own, it was clear that this poor girl had faced significant challenges early in life and had not received the love and attention she deserved.

She arrived timid and afraid with each experience seeming unfamiliar and overwhelming. But with a dedicated effort from those around her and time on her side, Delilah's true personality began to shine through. She now greets each day with renewed hope, understanding that she is safe, loved and that no one means her any harm 😌

Sadly, despite her resilience and extended stay, she has received no interest in adoption. Often being unfairly judged due to her size and breed with not many stopping by long enough to see her for who she really is 😞

Delilah yearns for nothing more than the simple joys of a loving home – the warmth of a sunbeam on a lazy afternoon, the comforting presence of a gentle hand, and the reassuring heartbeat of a caring family 🏡

Adopting her isn’t just giving her a home; it’s giving her a chance to live the life she deserves. A future filled with happiness, wagging tails, and endless cuddles ❤️

He’s the sweetest boy, but he’s really not a fan of being blow dried. The high velocity dryer used for grooming can be a trigger for some dogs, especially your working breeds who want to herd and control fast paced movements. In these instances we really try to work with the dogs to find a solution to minimise the chance of any anxiety or fear while being groomed.

We love when owners give us a LickiMat with their dogs favourite food, as they are designed to reduce anxiety and promote calm behaviour, encouraging a licking action which releases a calming hormone. They’re also a great tool to distract the dog a little during what would otherwise be quite a stressful situation.

Baby Kiara’s first full groom 🥹

Before we offer a full groom for puppies we like to make sure that they are always booked in for an introductory groom or even a couple over a few weeks depending on how they go. This is so we can give them a nice gentle bath and blow dry at a slow pace so they’re not flooded and freaked out by everything going on.

They need to be desensitised to the grooming process over a few grooms. Giving them these positive experiences is essential in making sure these puppies can associate grooming with a nice calm spa day ☺️

Happy to say Kiara’s first full groom was a success. She did so well! 🥰

He loves nothing more than to spend the day running around and playing in the yard with his people, then once that’s all done come inside and be close to his people. As dean has had a pretty sheltered life this far, he will benefit from some ongoing training and socialisation. Dean is quite strong on lead so he needs an owner that has the strength to control him whilst out and about in society. Dean is suited to a home with older children, he is not suited to a multidog household or one with pocket pets. Dean is microchipped and his vaccinations are up to date. The new owner is required to register him and arrange desexing.”
