🎄Updated Christmas Opening Hours🎄

🎅 As we approach the end of the year, we would like to thank all of our wonderful clients for their continued support.

🎁 Below are our opening hours for the Christmas break. We will resume our normal business hours from Thursday the 2nd of January 2025.

📞 If your pet requires an appointment during business hours whilst we are closed, please contact our friends at Canberra Vet Hospital. For afterhours emergencies, please contact the Animal Referral Hospital in Pialligo or CVES in Gungahlin.

🚧CONSTRUCTION UPDATE🚧

The demolition of the building next door has been completed. This has allowed the majority of the carpark to be opened to the public. As there are no parking bay lines currently, please park your vehicle as displayed in the picture below. Please contact the clinic on 6292 4569 if you have any questions.

🚧CONSTRUCTION UPDATE🚧

Demolition has begun for the new childcare centre being built next door. Our building will not be affected; however, parking spaces will be significantly reduced until approximately the 15th of November. Afterwards, the majority of the carpark will be accessible to the public.

During this time, we ask that you parallel park as close to the clinic as possible. There are signs placed where we recommend for you to park. Please contact the clinic on 6292 4569 if you have any questions.

We will continue to update everyone when more parking is made available.

🐍 SNAKE SEASON🐍

Unfortunately, we had our first snake bite case of the season last week

Thanks to Misty's owners' quick thinking, she was brought straight to the clinic, and we were able to begin life-saving treatment by administering a multi-snake anti-venom. We are delighted to report Misty has made a full recovery and is back home with her family 🐱

🐍Due to the warmer weather, snakes will be more active. If your pet displays any of the following symptoms, we urge you to call the clinic immediately:
- Sudden weakness and subsequent collapse
- Salivating/drooling
- Paralysis
- Difficulties breathing
- Weakness and trembling of the limbs and/or muscles

☀️Below are some tips to keep you and your pets safe during this summer period:
- DO NOT attempt to handle the snake or bring it to the clinic
- If you suspect your pet has been bitten, call us immediately
- If possible, keep your feline friends indoors
- Mow your lawns and keep the grass as low as possible
- Ensure your yard is tidy and there are no objects for the snake to hide under
- Keep your canine friends on a short lead on walks and stick to the footpath

On Sunday 22nd of September at 10:30am there will be a walk around Lake Burley Griffin in support of Flynn's Walk. This charity was created in honour of Dr Flynn Hargreaves who passed by su***de. This charity aims to raise awareness of mental health issues in the veterinary industry.

Unfortunately, veterinarians are four times more likely to die by su***de than the general population, with the industry losing one veterinarian every 12 weeks.

Our first patient for Dental Awareness Month is Willow! 🦷

Once under general anaesthesia, we performed a comprehensive examination of the mouth where we checked for abnormalities such as fractures, discolouration, and plaque build-up.

Willow then received IV fluids and a scale and polish, along with dental x-rays to ensure the teeth were healthy beneath the gums. Willow went home with fresh breath and a pearly white smile! 🦷

Today marks the beginning of Dental Month! 🦷

Your pet needs annual dental care, just like you! Did you know that 80% of cats and dogs over 3 years of age have some level of dental disease?

⚠️ATTENTION AVIAN INFLUENZA OUTBREAK⚠️

The recent avian influenza outbreak has extended to the Northern ACT region.

For all bird wildlife and pet birds please call our clinic on 6292 4569 before presenting to the clinic so that we can take precautions to reduce the spread of the disease.

Symptoms of avian influenza include: issues with breathing, lethargy, diarrhoea, reduced appetite and changes in behaviour/neurological symptoms.

Preventative measures for bird owners:
- where able, keep birds indoors or undercover to prevent contact with wild birds
- wash hands regularly before and after handling birds
- clean water bowls, feeders and cages regularly with detergent (F10 is recommended)
- use separate clothing and shoes when handling birds

👷 There will be some construction happening for approximately the next month, but this will not affect our normal clinic hours.
