Official welcome to Canine Culture foster dog ā€œLobaā€ šŸ¶

This pretty girl found herself in the pound for a very long 6 months before the universe plucked some strings and helped her make her way here. When we heard about her situation, after following up on a notice by the ACT rescue and foster team, we decided we could help her.
We went and picked her up just in time on the date that she was due to be euthanised. This was a few months ago in January.

Loba is a bit of an intense dog, so itā€™s no surprise that she didnā€™t present well in the pound. The last few months with her we have set up all her routines and management to focus on being able to just decompress and allow all those different layers of stress to start to fall away.

Loba has settled in to our home really well. Now that she feels safe and has some stability around her she is allowing us to see new parts of her personality each day.

She loves ā€œher peopleā€ fiercely. Finds immense joy in frolicking and rolling around off leash in the grass. Recently discovered that she can carry two chuckit balls at once if youā€™re not quick enough and will sell her soul for a venison ear.

We are working with Loba to help her become her best self, and although she has made huge leaps she still has a long way to go in her rehabilitation. When the right time comes we will start to consider her options for adoption. She is already very special to us and I know she is going to be a very difficult one to part with.

For now keep an eye on her on our socials here and there, we hope to share parts of her journey when we can ā¤ļø

Our Story

Hi there, my name is Lucienne, but everyone calls me Luci, and Iā€™m the founder of Canine Culture Australia. Iā€™ve always had a natural connection with animals. From a young age I was surrounded by all sorts of pets, but my deep connection with dogs has played the most significant role in my life. Stepping straight out of school and into the animal industry with a position in a vet clinic was a natural progression for me. During this time, I started to explore my interest in dog behaviour and training and it was not long before I realized this is where my true passion lay. I was so lucky to be able to get a position as a dog handler with an amazing local Canberra business. Not only could I be covered in dog hair, slob and constantly smelling of dog treats but I was given many great opportunities and invaluable experience. My personal and professional growth during my many years as a part of that team was quite significant before I stepped away to start a new adventure.

Making the decision to grow and develop Canine Culture has come after quite a dramatic event in my life. In 2017 I had my beautiful son Archer, who was the happiest little boy you probably could have ever known. During my time with Archer my dogs Meeko, Zephyr & the new addition of Nova were there as my support crew as they always are during changes as Iā€™ve transitioned from one chapter of my life to the next. Always deepening my respect and admiration for them. In 2018, at only 16 months of age Archer passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Again, my dogs were there for me and are here during the hardest year of my life. They have been playing a massive role in my healing.

Archer taught me so much about life, and he continues to teach me every day about living a life of purpose. Life is short, but it gives us plenty of time to do all that we want to do. To give meaning to life, follow direction to goodness and follow your passions. One of my biggest passions is working with our four-legged companions and the relationships that we share with them. All our relationships, including those with our dogs are gifts and the gift is in what each relationship can teach us.
