With our new client portal, you can now:

What you need to do:

I am excited to try CBD oil from for Midori and her seizures

Seizures in dogs is tough to manage, and for those who don’t know, my girl Midori has been on this journey for a while now. After her radiation treatment, we’ve seen some positive changes, but her seizures are still happening about once a month. Right now, we’re hoping to extend the time between episodes—and today, we just received her CBD oil!

Her CBD oil just arrived today, and I’m really keen to see if it makes a difference in her health. While her seizures are still happening, we’re hopeful that this—along with her other treatments—might help extend the time between them. It’s all a bit of trial and error.

CBD oil has been talked about a lot when it comes to helping dogs with seizures, and while it’s not a cure, some dogs see improvements in seizure frequency and recovery. But not all CBD oils are created equal.

In Australia, you can buy CBD oil over the counter, but the tricky part is knowing if what you’re getting is actually safe and effective. Over-the-counter CBD products aren’t always tested to the same standard, and their quality can be hit or miss. CBD Vets Australia, on the other hand, supplies prescription-only CBD oil that has to pass strict quality and safety standards. If you’re considering CBD oil for your dog, it’s worth having a chat with your vet to make sure you’re getting something reliable.

𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 ‘𝐅𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐨𝐠𝐬’ 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐭.

Dog parks are often seen as the go-to for socialising dogs, but in reality, they’re one of the worst places for it. A free-for-all environment with dogs of all temperaments, play styles, and energy levels thrown together is a recipe for disaster.

Here’s what actually happens:
• 𝐏𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 – Socialisation isn’t just exposure. It’s about positive, controlled experiences. Dog parks are chaotic, and a bad interaction can teach a dog that other dogs are something to fear or dominate.
• 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 & 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫-𝐀𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐥 – Unchecked chasing, body-slamming, and overwhelming interactions can create frustration-based reactivity. Many reactive dogs are former dog park regulars who learned that other dogs mean chaos.
• 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 & 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠– That ‘fun’ chase game? More often than not, it’s one dog herding or hunting another while the ‘prey’ is stressed. Many working breeds instinctively stalk, chase, and control movement—it’s not playful, and the dog being targeted isn’t having fun.
• 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭– If your dog gets overwhelmed, scared, or injured at the park and you don’t step in, they learn you won’t advocate for them. That trust is hard to rebuild.

A well-socialised dog isn’t one that thrives in the presence of dogs—it’s one that can exist calmly around other dogs without needing to interact.

Your pup isn’t being 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐛𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧… you’re just speaking the 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞!

🙌One of the most important things you can teach your puppy isn’t sit, stay, or come—it’s how to understand you. Before your pup can learn commands, they first need to learn what your words mean. That’s where marker words come in, and teaching them early makes all future training easier!

Dogs don’t come pre-programmed to understand human words, but they are excellent at picking up patterns. If your dog isn’t listening, it’s not because they’re being difficult—it’s because they don’t understand what you’re asking. That’s where marker words come in.

✅Marker words help bridge the communication gap, making it crystal clear to your dog when they’ve done something right or wrong.

✅Marker words are short, consistent words that clearly tell your pup when they’ve done something right or wrong.

✅ Reward Marker (Yes! or Good!) – This tells your pup the exact moment they made the right choice. It’s followed by a treat, toy, or praise to reinforce the behaviour. Over time, this makes learning new commands much faster.

❌ Correction Marker (Ah-ah! or No!) – This helps your pup understand when they’ve made the wrong choice, redirecting them toward better decisions without confusion or frustration.

By starting with clear communication from the beginning, your pup will grow into a confident, well-trained dog who understands exactly what you’re asking!

What a night. Hoping everyone and their pets made it through safely. Storms like that can be terrifying, especially for our animals.
Our dogs handled it well, and I really hope yours did too. I know how stressful it is worrying about them in weather like this.

We copped quite a bit of damage, with trees and branches down all over, especially along the fence lines. The horse paddock took a big hit, and I won’t lie—I was really stressed knowing they were out there with the wind howling and debris flying. But thankfully, they’re safe in the house yard, came out unscathed and handled the night like absolute champs.

We’re currently without power and have no idea when it’ll be back, so contacting us might be tricky.

Remember to check in on your neighbours, give your dogs some extra love ❤️
