What does a bit butter do❓

Great question! A bit butter like our Buzz Butter, is typically applied prior to riding to moisturise the horse's lips and prevent the rubbing of tack around the sensitive muzzle area. It is NOT a solution for poor fitting gear but rather, a solution for sensitive skin or dry lips that need a little extra care. ❤️ It's also excellent for cold damaged lips or any dry cracked areas.

An added benefit of Buzz Butter is the peppermint oil making it 1. Delicious for the horses 😋 and 2. peppermint oil is known to release both mental and physical tension so it's excellent for horses that hold tension in their jaws when riding.

It's Transformation Thursday! This one has got to be our best one yet! Would you believe the transformation happened in less than 7 months!? 🤯 With only our two hoof products 😉

"I found using the Hoof Beehave Zinc Paste quite regularly was so important. When the issues first started the ground was quite wet. We have sandy soil so without the Zinc Paste, I couldn’t keep the grit out of the cracks.

However, I think both the Hoof Hydrator and Hoof Beehave were important to use together, I definitely thinking using both together produced the best results. How quickly the hoof grew out while using the Hoof Hydrator regularly was insane!"

Trying to figure out if your horse would benefit from a bit butter? Let us help you!

First, a bit butter like our Buzz Butter (the best one of course!), is designed to moisturise the horse's mouth area to prevent rubbing and encourage acceptance of the bit. It also helps to heal any existing dry or split areas.

But what if your horse doesn't have any rubbed areas or dry lips?

Buzz Butter can still benefit your horse's ridden work as the peppermint in the bit butter has traditionally been used to relieve mental and physical tension. Due to this, Buzz Butter is particularly useful for horses that carry tension in their jaws, resulting in a soft foamy mouth.

The consistent use of the peppermint scent in the bit butter can also help horses adjust to new surroundings, such as competitions. Last month's El Nino declaration means we're in for a hot and dry summer across much of Australia 🏜️ But how does this affect our horse's hooves?

Horse hooves require a certain level of moisture to stay healthy and strong. When the conditions are dry, the hooves can become brittle and prone to cracking or splitting. To combat the effects of dry conditions, it is important to maintain a consistent hoof care routine that includes regular trimming, cleaning, and moisturizing.

A hoof balm like the Hoof Hydrator, can prevent the effects of dry conditions by moisturising the hoof and sealing the hoof from losing additional moisture. It's a must for hoof care this El Nino season! 🐝
