Recently, we saw cute little Bozo πŸ₯°!
Bozo had unfortunately been unwell recently. He had improved after a visit and was under the watchful eye of his pet parents at home but continued to decline again, so he was brought back in to see us.
After some days in hospital and a surgery investigation, the culprit was foundπŸ”Ž! A small piece of chew toy that was too big to pass on its own was causing a bit of strive for poor Bozo.
Bozo improved dramatically after surgery and is now feeling so much better 😌 πŸ™Œ.

Another group of gorgeous puppy graduates πŸŽ“!
This was only a small group, but the puppies had plenty of personality between them. All the puppies improved so much in their training and socialisation over the weeks and they were such a treat to have in class.

ALERT: Lorikeet Paralysis Syndrome (LPS) is affecting hundreds of wild lorikeets.

Lorikeet Paralysis Syndrome is a seasonal disease primarily affecting Rainbow Lorikeet populations in Northern NSW and Southern Queensland.

LPS can cause afflicated birds to appear unbalanced and become unable to fly, despite not showing apparent injuries. As the disease progresses, birds will lose control of their limbs and beaks entirely.

Early treatment increases the likelihood of successful rehabilitation and release. Therefore, getting affected birds into veterinary care as soon as possible is vital.

If you find a lorikeet suffering from LPS symptoms, please transport it to the nearest vet or contact WIRES immediately at 1300 094 737.

Thank you to WIRES Wildlife Vet Dr Tania Bishop for providing this invaluable information.

Sadly it is time to say Goodbye to one of our longest standing staff members! Sarah joined the team straight out of high school in 2009. In that time she achieved her Veterinary Nurse & Practice Management qualifications to name just a few. She has trained many nurses and shared her industry knowledge preparing them for a future in vet nursing. Sarah's consistent involvement in the community included being crowned Beef Week Queen, teaching puppy preschool and being involved in the cattle community.
We have been lucky to be witness to Sarah entering many new chapters, such as falling in love, building her dream home and becoming an amazing mother. Sarah wont be going far and will always remain a special part of the Casino Vet team. Please join us in wishing Sarah all the best in the future as she finishes with us tomorrow.

We had happy Bonnie in recently for a lump that had come up quickly that was causing concerns. Surgical investigation was recommended but no obvious foreign bodies were found. Bonnie was stitched up and sent home on antibiotics and came in for removal of sutures which she was very well behaved for. The lump currently hasn't come back and Bonnie is going well!
