Happy Townfolk festival! Stay cool, bring hydralite, wear a big hat. See ya there. ☀️

For our pups, put some sound blocking on for them and provide chews and licky things at home so they don't get worried about the increased noises around town today.

Whelp, this is a last-minute reminder that there will be fireworks in Castlemaine for the agricultural show. They're not my favourite, but luckily, helping my pup stay safe and chill are also things I enjoy doing on a cosy Friday night. (I am still in post-working hospitality evenings recovery. What is a weekend if you're not getting paid to socialise??)
Stay safe, secure your pets, look out for wildlife and let your pals know. Have fun x

Congratulations our spring puppy class attendees! A wonderful 5 weeks of growth. Everyone has been working hard, remembering to be patient and learning so much about their new family member. A sunny day of relaxing in front of everyone was a great way to end ☀️

Yesterday I met the stunning Henry! This boy hit adolescence and became too difficult to walk. Big and strong and a bit too much. Guess what? 👀 We walked around the block calmly for the first time in ages! We got lots of checking in and helped him learn to observe things he wasn’t too sure about instead of lunging or bolting. What a good boy. 🐾 next step, settling in new places to open his world up!

Why does behaviour modification often start with “do less”? It's powerful, it’s important, it is often why really good training plans fall apart otherwise.

hannah_branigan put it really nicely, and it keeps bobbing around my head. I watched Bondi Behaviourist’s Pet Professional Guild Australia
webinar which echoed what I've been seeing and thinking about.

We can't teach our dogs when their cup is empty or expect them to chill out when their nervous systems are shot. 💥

I know I really struggle with rest, it’s so booooring and my brain is so busy - but it probs means I need it more than ever. 🙄😡

Be gentle to yourself and your dog when learning how to rest, it'd a skill that takes practice but it’s a really good key to the puzzle. 🔑

Check out the Drinking from the Toilet episode, and Ian’s PPGA webinar for more details.

💚 Elk 💚 Beautiful, sweet Elk came to me with my Rescue Me! Package early this year. After adopting Elk, his wonderful humans got some help understanding body language, helping him settle in, and getting started on training. Specifically, don't eat the chickens and everything off the floor! Watching him grow over months was lovely; he couldn't have asked for better humans to advocate for him. Helping him feel safe and secure and communicating clearly was everything this dream team needed to grow together. Thanks for trusting me, and I can't wait to see you grow up, sweet boy!

⛈It got dark fast in Castlemaine, and last weekend, we saw many missing pups. ⛈
So, this is your very last-minute reminder to ensure your pets are secured, safe, and comfortable. Get your favourite sound masking up (if you're not a nerd like me, my favourite is from mysnoise.net) and give them a cuddle if they like that.

If your animal struggles with noises and storms, speak to your vet to investigate quiet pain (the more subtle stuff like osteoarthritis, gastrointestinal, etc.) and how they can best assist you. Then, chat with a force-free trainer to help you create a plan. 💚

I’m so excited about this! Have you got your spot yet? Looking for something to do when you have low spoons with your pup?

Starts next Sunday!

I'm really excited to offer K9 Nose Work in such a lovely location. A special thanks to local trainer, Alex from Dig Dog Training for organising this course.

This venue ticks lots of boxes, including: lots of shade for dogs resting in cars between searches; fenced areas for outdoor searches off lead; great indoor space; accessible for all abilities.

The introduction to K9 Nose Work does NOT require any previous scent training or obedience, and we accommodate all dogs to ensure their comfort and welfare. If you'd like to know more, get in touch.

🐾 Charlie and Bandit! The boys! 🐾 Charlie came to me via the Reactive Border Collies Facebook group, struggling with hypervigilance and noise sensitivity. After getting a thorough history, we went straight to the team at Myvet Strathfieldsaye for a comprehensive medical check-up. We took a break from everything and started tracking data to see what was working and what was fuffiling and what was too much for him. This sensitive man is learning how toself regulate and his humans have more tools to help him settle.

Big props to his fam and building a team behind him and them to support him, to putting the time in and just, trusting the process.

Acting with kindness and curiousity to the boys behaviours, we have Charlie sleeping, chewing, playing, and even having a little cuddle. 👀 I can't wait to see where we go from here.

If anyone is interested in adopting a pup, fostering is the way to go! I offer reduced rates to rescues to support you on your journey. Check out Ollie's Legacy Incorporated if you are able to foster this cutie.

🐾 Desperately seeking foster carers 🐾
We are looking for a foster home for a 5 month old German shepherd cross staffy. She has an extremely sweet nature, is great with other animals and eager to learn. She is needing a foster home where she can continue to build her confidence and trust of people. A doggo sibling to learn from would be perfect! We would also consider foster with the view to adopt arrangements. Please reach out for more information if you are interested.
