I would like to advise that LB Horse Training, Agistment & Transport Services will be relocating to the Mid North Coast of NSW.
We will be closing our doors to horse Agistment services effective as of November 2023.

My future goal and plan is to eventually re open an Agistment facility within the Mid North Coast region of NSW, later down the track.

However, now is about time I turn the page and start a new chapter of my life.
I would like to thank everyone for their support over the years.

Mycotoxins are poisonous compounds produced by various species of microfungi. Most fungi thrive in moist, humid conditions, and when there's wet weather where your horse lives, the risk of mycotoxin ingestion increases substantially.

Look out for these environmental signs that conditions are suitable for microfungi growth where your horse lives:
* Wet weather
* Persistent mud and puddles
* High humidity
* Fungus visible in the environment (even though these are probably not the fungi producing harmful mycotoxins!) including toadstools in the lawn,
* Fungi growing on timbers or manure piles
* Saddlery getting mouldy
* Hay goes musty in dry storage.

⚠️ DO NOT feed dusty, musty, wet or spoiled hay or hard feed.

In the wet is recommended to introduce a broad-spectrum toxin binder and monitor your horse carefully for signs of mycotoxin poisoning. Symptoms of mycotoxin ingestion can be very different between horses but often include some of the following:
⚠️ sudden development of unpredictable, uncharacteristic erratic behaviour
⚠️ photosensitivity (severely 'sunburnt' pink skin)
⚠️ greasy heel or mud fever
⚠️ lameness or swollen lower legs
⚠️ girthiness or muscle tightness
⚠️ ill-thriftiness despite good feed
⚠️ head flicking
⚠️ staggers
⚠️ unusual sweat patterns
⚠️ coarse dull coat.

Protect your horse from the risks with Farmalogic Grazaid, Australia’s most complete and state-of-the art protection against mycotoxins combined with natural botanical extracts, prebiotics and live yeast probiotics to support the immune system and boost gut health by protecting the intestinal barrier and stabilising beneficial gut microbial populations.
Order Grazaid wherever good stock feeds are sold or buy online now at https://bit.ly/3vlSYMw

When mycotoxin load is very high, remove horse from contaminated pasture, feed clean hay/hard feed and continue with toxin binder fed at highest recommended rate. If symptoms persist call your vet.

Let them be horses.

Turn them out, let them run.
Let them buck, let them leap, rather in the field than the arena, right?

Give them a herd, even a herd of two.
Let them be with other horses, what’s a life without friends?

Give them downtime, not just days off riding, but days to enjoy life.
Happy horses are trainable horses.

Take the rug off, let them feel the sun.
Let them roll in the mud, a little dirt never hurt anyone.

Escape the arena and explore, don’t stick to the well worn path.
The most beautiful places are usually found by accident.

Showing them how much you love them doesn’t have to come from buying expensive things.

You can buy every rug, all the boots, the best tack, wash them, groom them, feed them, put them in the best yard, with the best facilities and wrap them up in cotton wool, but one day you’ll realise the best thing you could possibly do...
.. is just let them be horses.

🚨 Japanese Encephalitis Virus & Horses 🚨

Japanese Encephalitis Virus (JEV) is a is a viral zoonotic disease that is spread by mosquitoes that affects animals and humans. Outbreaks of JEV have been reported in piggeries in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.

In horses, many cases are subclinical, meaning they are infected but show no signs of disease. Most clinical disease is mild, however more severe encephalitis can occur which may be fatal. Symptoms of JEV in horses may include:
πŸ”΄ Elevated temperature
πŸ”΄ Jaundice
πŸ”΄ Lethargy
πŸ”΄ Anorexia
πŸ”΄ Neurological signs - incoordination, difficulty swallowing, impaired vision, and rarely the horse becomes over excited.

⚠️ Prevention may include regularly applying insect repellents, fly mask, rugging and stabling horses during periods when mosquitoes are active.

🚨 Horse owners need to be alert to signs of this disease. Japanese encephalitis is a nationally notifiable disease which means it must be reported to a veterinarian or biosecurity authority. To report, call the national Emergency Animal Disease Watch Hotline on 1800 675 888. This number will put you in contact with the biosecurity authority in your state or territory.
