ROTIFERS
These little guys are often overlooked in the reefing world and all the great things they can do for our tank. They are multi-celled organisms that live in our vast oceans and make up a large population of plankton.
Rotifers are consumed by a variety of sea creatures ranging from fish species to coral. Rotifers pack a large punch of nutrients despite their minimal size. Rotifers aren't easily seen such as pods are and that is the first advantage to our reef tanks size. Their size makes it a lot easier for our beautiful corals to digest. We can think of them as mighty mini lunch bags loaded full of nutrients. Due to the high nutrient content that rotifers attain, this provides healthier and more vibrant corals and tank inhabitants. Adding rotifers to your tank establishes a good base and variety of food sources for your system which is always a huge advantage to keeping a healthy reef tank. Lastly, rotifers reproduce and colonize very rapidly which makes it a lot easier for even new reefers to keep with success.

Live phytoplankton creates a healthy diet for all your inhabitants in your aquarium. Especially if you have Copepods and Rotifers in your tank and refugium. By adding Phytoplankton to your tank you are not only feeding your corals but also your copepods and rotifers and are recreating the natural marine food chain.

The addition of Phytoplankton to a reef tank has been known to promote the growth of coral and for their colors to look brighter.

Phytoplankton is an important part of the food chain of the ocean world, and therefore just as important in the food chain of your saltwater aquarium.
In order for the wonderful creatures in your aquarium to flourish, make sure you are adding phytoplankton!

Welcome to my new page. I have started this page to spread the word around with fellow reefers about a new live food supplier in the Hunter. We at the moment cultivate our own phytoplankton, Rotifers and Copepod. As we get bigger we will bring in more live foods and various different reefing products.
