Todays packs 🐾

It was Sky’s first pack walk with us today and she is also available to adopt through ! Sky is the one sitting up front in the first photo and she learnt pretty quickly the way we do things. It was a pleasure to have her join us and would make someone a lovely companion.

Meet Arlo 🧡🐾

Recently we had a 1:1 coaching session with this fun guy and his owners! We have a few sessions coming up and I am looking forward to helping them along on this journey.

We went over ⬇️
✅ How to manage him when guest come over as he becomes very excited - Starting by popping Arlo on a lead and beginning the process of teaching him ‘place’.
✅ What to do in a situation where Arlo spots another dog and becomes frustrated on the lead out of excitement.
✅ How to read his body language and understand appropriate play.
✅ Impulse control and recall around environmental stimuli (people, dogs, other wild life such as rabbits and kangaroos).
✅ How to make yourself valuable and become the preferred choice around competing motivators.

Meet Rex 🐾

Today we had a 1:1 coaching session with the owners of this handsome, young kelpie. They have been having issues with meal time manners, leash walking, also reactivity towards cars and dogs.

During this session we went over ⬇️
✅ Exposure and socialisation.
✅ Confidence and relationship building.
✅ Appropriate outlets for this breed that will fulfil him both mentally and physically.
✅ All things communication.
✅ Motivators.
✅ Proper use/fit of equipment (leashes).
✅ Crate training.

I am looking forward to helping this family on their new journey together 🫶🏻

Today Rea from joined us at the farm and as you can see, everyone was so happy to meet her! 🐾

In August trainer Hayley will be going overseas to the UK for a few weeks! All will proceed as normal while I’m away, as Rea will be kindly taking over farm days during this period so all the doggos don’t have to miss out 😍

Everyone will be contacted personally concerning any changes and will have the opportunity to meet Rea over the next few visits.

I am so thankful to have come on board and help out. Your dogs will be in the best hands 💛

This decision is rooted in several considerations, including but not limited to… ⬇️

Shift in Focus: As the founder of Canine Canines, I am redirecting my efforts towards new goals, particularly emphasizing foster care for underprivileged dogs. Our commitment to setting these dogs up for success aligns with our passion for providing appropriate outlets for these dogs and to ensure they are matched to the right home. Canny Canines thrives and is most experienced in group socialisation and providing dogs environmental enrichment. We will be opening up a new service on a Monday which focuses on those two things combined... PACK WALKS. This is more than taking them out for an adventure with their furry friends in the bush. Structure and training are involved to ensure your dog remains calm and controlled. This will allow them to safely explore with their pack. Learning skills such as recall, impulse control, obedience and leash manners, means they get more freedom to sniff, play, run and swim to their hearts content!

Increasing Challenges with Irresponsible Owners: Unfortunately, there has been a noticeable rise in irresponsible dog owners, allowing their pets off-leash with inadequate control. This poses challenges in achieving our training goals and introduces unnecessary stress and danger during sessions.

Moving forward, I will personally discuss the best course of action for each dog’s development plan with their respective owners. Additionally, for those interested in switching services, we will now offer pack walks (more info and pricing to come), alongside farm days, 1:1 coaching sessions, wedding chaperones and boarding for existing clients.

I want to express my deep gratitude for the trust you’ve placed in Canny Canines. Witnessing the growth and achievements of your dogs has been incredibly rewarding, and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to work with each of you.

If you have any questions or concerns, I am here to address them personally over the next couple of weeks. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Today we had a 1:1 coaching session with the owners of Rocko and Odin 🐾

In no particular order, we discussed ⬇️
✅ How to read behaviours and understand what is appropriate play.
✅ How to clear communicate to your dog
✅ How to teach your dog pressure/release and the correct way to use a slip lead.
✅ Setting boundaries and the importance of implementing structure into your routine.
✅ All the different ways you can utilise the crate.
✅ How to build up your relationship and become someone they want to listen to.
✅ Utilising meals for training opportunities.
✅ How to meet your dog’s needs.

And so much more! These two attend and will be doing training/enrichment sessions with me there. I am looking forward to seeing how they progress at home and with us at school 🤠
