Hampden Veterinary Clinic - Cobden & Warrnambool

Hampden Veterinary Clinic - Cobden & Warrnambool Hampden Veterinary Clinic is a mixed animal vet practice situated in the South West of Victoria. Warrnambool.
(16)

The Hampden Veterinary Clinic opened for business in May of 2009 and we have been servicing the farms and family pets of South West Victoria from this time onwards. The founding partners of the business were David Buckle and Simon Dean, both were experienced veterinarians with over 10 years experience each. Xavier McKinnon, another experienced vet came on board to work for the clinic in the first

year and after that first year bought into the partnership. We are now excited to have Dr Anthony Down as our small animal doctor. Our practice has grown rapidly with our opening in Warrnambool. We now have 10 full time vets working, with a practice manager and 4 vet nurses working full time in the clinic. Hampden Veterinary Clinic is a mixed animal Veterinary clinic situated in the heart of Southwest Victoria in the township of Cobden and now also situated at 209 Lava St. We care for all dogs, cats, cows, sheep, horses and any other animal that is sick or in need of veterinary care. The aim of the clinic when set up was to provide a quality veterinary care to animals of South West Victoria, whilst still being affordable for their owners. We pride ourselves on delivering caring and innovative treatments, preventative health care and education for all.

This is Indy.
Little Indy came to us via referral from a local vet clinic. She had unfortunately broken her leg. Dr Anthony and Dr Wendy operated and placed a plate on the tibia. After some rest at home we can repost that Indy has healed beautifully.

Teat-Sealing in Heifers is in full swing!
Here’s Vet Chelsea infusing teat sealant into a heifer with the aid of the tipper crush.

Teat sealing heifers significantly reduces the risk of mastitis at calving placing a physical barrier in the teat end.

Call the clinic to book your heifers in!

Meet Duke

Duke was feeling under the weather recently. He was uncomfortable and his diligent owners noticed his enlarged abdomen and brought him straight to the clinic where the HVC team of vets and nurses swung into action.

Duke was diagnosed with a GDV or Gastric dilatation and volvulus. He was initially stabilised with IV fluids and then taken to surgery, where our vets untwist the stomach and then suture part of the stomach to the abdominal wall to help prevent it from twisting again.

Luckily, Duke recovered well from the surgery and was able to go home a few days later.

Happy 1st Birthday to the youngest member of the HVC clinic crew. The HVC Warrnambool clinic turns 1 today!

Just like all newborns, there’s been some challenges along the way, but we’re glad to say we’re still smiling, and still helping animals of various shapes and sizes the best we can.

Thanks everyone for all your support, especially our loyal and supportive staff.
We couldn’t have done it without you!
Happy Birthday

Nurse Mandy is also teacher Mandy!

For those of you that don't know, in 2022 nurse Mandy completed her certificate 4 in Training and Assessment. This combined with her vet nursing qualifications has enabled Mandy to teach the certificate 2 in Animal Care Mercy Regional College in Camperdown - which is available to Year 11 and 12 students.

Mercy helped with Mandy's training and provided support to make this a reality, and as it comes to the end of the year, Mandy is already looking forward to next year.

So for anyone interested in this course contact Mercy Regional College in Camperdown and you too can learn from one of the best.

At HVC we are all extremely proud of Nurse Mandy.

ZARA the Wonder Dog

A few weeks ago, Zara presented to our Warrnambool clinic with some pain in her hocks. Our vet, Dr Anthony recommend some X-rays and all seemed well.

Once under anaesthesia, Dr Anthony noted all was not as it should be and Zara’s abdomen seemed larger than it should be.

A few more X-rays and an ultrasound later (along with a few phone calls to Zara’s worried owners), Zara was diagnosed with a mass in her Spleen.

Surgery was performed to remove her 3.2kg spleen and were thrilled to receive the pathology results we were hoping for. Zara’s mass was benign and she’s recovering well.

Well done Zara - You Rock!
