Little Mika with the sweetest little head tilt during our paparazzi snaps. 😍
Cuteness overload at our Sawtell clinic with little Archie!
Archie was super well behaved and a delight when he saw Dr Mat for a check up. We especially love his excited happy tappy feet in this video! ❤️
40 years
Or 480months
Or 14600 days
Today was DJ’s last day after 40 years at Pacific Vetcare. One facebook post isn’t enough to highlight all of DJ’s achievement so we’ll dedicate next week to a few key moments but for now we just wanted to say thank you.
Thank you for the many memories.
Thank you for the good times, the fun times and for supporting us all during the hard and challenging times.
Thank you for making sure that we were always “caring and progressive”.
Thank you for all the dad jokes, the get-togethers, the dinners, the Macleay Valley vs PVC victories, the fun Christmas parties and everything in between.
Feel good Monday vibes with Esther!
SOUND ON!
Little Esther came in last week to see Doctor Tiffany after she was found covered in yolk.
She was significantly happier once Doctor Tiffany had removed the bulk of the yolk and she even started to purr. 🥰
Ticks, ticks and more ticks
The increase in tick cases has definitely been felt these last 2 weeks. Most cases have been overdue for tick prevention by a few days.
Signs consistently being seen at home
- inappetence
- struggling to get up
- odd bark or meow
- louder than usual breathing.
Please make sure you triple check when your pet is due for tick prevention, tick check your pet daily (no product is 100% effective) and if you see any of the above signs seek veterinary attention immediately.
Warning: fascinating medical case that some people may find gross!
Dr Lauren had an interesting case on Monday afternoon at our Harbour dr clinic. This horse developed a large seroma* possibly due to trauma. The amount of fluid that was drained was incredible: 10l (so yes the bucket was filled!).
*Seroma: an abnormal accumulation of fluid in an area where there is usual no possibility for fluid to accumulate.
This little ray of sunshine is Buddy! He came into our Sawtell clinic to see Dr Mat and was keen to show us a few of his tricks. 😍
Some cute feel good vibes for your Friday afternoon!
This little puggle has been seeing Dr Kristie at our Sawtell clinic for regular check ups and tube feeding to maintains it weight. It is in care with a wonderful WIRES carer that is making sure it’s thriving.
How sweet is this little soul!
Milou the 3 year old poodle came into our Coramba clinic for a booster vaccine. Milou means snow in French. He was the only white pup in his litter: the other 3 were all black!
Happy Weekend!
Hopefully the rain clears but if it doesn’t “just keep swimming” like little Misty! ❤️
In the human world Mondays are a drag. But not for some of our patients! How sweet is this little puppy?! 😍
Patient of the week: Mama Daisy
Dr Lauren was called out last week to see Daisy for an emergency: Daisy’s uterus had prolapsed during labour (in layman’s terms this is where the uterus has been pushed out of the body).
Daisys’ calf Winston was alive and well but Daisy was very unwell and needed her uterus replaced as a matter of urgency. Complicating matters was the fact that this was the worst uterine prolapse that we’ve seen for a very long time. Dr Lauren worked hard to stabilise Daisy and called in Dr Aaron for reinforcement and help to make sure everything was done as efficiently and safely as possible.
Both our vets toiled hard but were ultimately successful. Yesterday Dr Lauren rechecked Daisy and Winston - both are doing really well! ❤️
Boris is the best snuggler!
Autumn is here and the weather is getting cooler so if you don’t have a bestie to snuggle with we have found you one!!
Meet Boris- charming, smoochy and super sweet. He is available through our local RSPCA - have a look at his details via this link:

Thank you to all the lovely members of the public who have been bringing in lost chicks, fledglings and injured babies.
We are always happy to check any wildlife over and send them on their way to WIRES for rehabilitation til they can be released.
Like these Noisy Miners- snug as bugs in our humidicrib yesterday.
How sweet is Duke?!
Exploring our toy box at our Sawtell clinic- we hope all the doggos love picking out a toy to de-stress on during their visit.
We also encourage owners to bring in their dogs own toys or favourites treats so coming to the clinic is low stress and fun.
We’re for all creatures great and small.
Like this little joey- his poor mum and him were hit by a car on early Sunday morning. Our amazing vet nurse Skye attended to them whilst waiting for Dr Julia to come and help. The mum and joey were transferred to our Harbour dr clinic.
Mum couldnt walk properly so xrays were taken - thankfully there were no pelvis, long bone or spinal fractures visible. Both have gone into care with the lovely carers at WIRES in the hope that mum recovers and can be released with her joey. The joey has been given supplemental feeds to give mum a rest.
Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery and a quick release back home into the wild.
Community service announcement:
The (thoroughly annoying and deadly) paralysis tick is BACK and early this year! Since last week we have seen 4 cats and one dog for tick paralysis.
If you aren't already START TICK PREVENTION NOW!
For cats the only registered product is frontline spray frontlinely and for dogs the most reliable products are oral nexgard and bravecto.
The early signs of tick paralysis are often subtle:
- change in bark or meow
- wobbly when walking
- inappetance progressing to regurgitation
Whilst the more severe signs are difficulty breathing, inability to walk and constant frothy vomits or regurgitation.
If you are worried about your pet seek veterinary attention asap!
