Did you know that acupuncture is a great modality to improve our pets quality of life? 🐾 It works by creating localised reactions in specific areas of the body to stimulate the innate self healing mechanisms within the body. It works in similar pathways to our strong pain relief so can be fantastic for musculoskeletal and arthritic conditions.

It is also great for a lot of our medical conditions including epilepsy and seizures, autoimmune conditions, feline gingival stomatitis, IBD, skin, behaviour and for palliation in our older sicker pets. Really, acupuncture can be utilised in some way for most conditions and works fantastically in adjunct to our western treatments. 🧡

Dr Emma is IVAS qualified in both equine and small animals. This means she has undertaken both extensive study and intensive examinations to ensures she provides the highest level of acupuncture for your pets. She is competent not only in needling but also electroacupuncture (where a device puts a light electrical current through the needles to strengthen the treatment), aquapuncture (where points are injected, often with B12, to create a longer lasting response) and gold bead therapy (where gold beads are put into acupuncture points to create a permanent treatment). Do you know how to search your pup for ticks?

Follow these steps:
🐾 Move your fingertips through their coat at skin level, feeling for any bumps
🐾 Start at their head and neck (don't forget to check their mouth and ears!)
🐾 Continue checking down their front legs to their paws - make sure to check between their toes
🐾 Search their chest, belly, back, tail, and back legs
🐾 Remove their collar to search for any ticks hiding underneath

Pickles! The adorable 2 year old Pug was so incredibly brave for her desexing and stenotic nares surgery with Dr. Andrew! 🐾💕 We made sure to give her all the extra special care that brachycephalic breeds need, making her anaesthetic experience as safe as possible.🩺

This sweet girl stole everyone’s hearts with her squishy face and brave spirit. Wishing Pickles lots of love and a smooth recovery. 💛

A beautiful female Staffy was brought into our clinic today by one of our kind team members, who found her on Bray Street. She isn’t microchipped and we’re hoping to reunite her with her family soon.

Oh Mr. Sunny 💛🍯You are just sooo handsome! This sweet 13 year old Golden Retriever came in yesterday for a dental. He had some sore teeth, so we removed them for him. Safe to say he is feeling a whole lot better after our help! We loved giving you cuddles sweet boy 🥰🥰

Manicure time for Puppy the Pug🎀!Her mum shared that nail trims usually cause a bit of stress, but after some extra cuddles and care, Puppy was happy to let us clip her nails with no fuss at all! 🌸 We also managed to give her worming tablet stress free. We love spending quality time with your pets, helping them feel relaxed and at ease during their visits. 💕

🌸Poppy the gorgeous French Bulldog, recently had two procedures with us! 🐾Along with her desexing, she bravely underwent stenotic nares surgery 🩺—a procedure to help her breathe more easily. The last videos show her at her 10 day post surgery check up and it’s clear she still loves her cuddles with us! 🥰💛

We’ve been keeping our hands full and our coffee cups topped up! ☕️It’s been a hectic week with lots of surgeries, dental procedures, desexes, a tail amputation, just to name a few. We’ve loved catching up with lots of your pets for their annual health checks! 🤎 Along with those, we’ve had to see a few pups for eating things they shouldn’t (chocolate, naughty! 🍫) and quite a few tick cases (parasite prevention is key) 😢. We’ve been taking lots of x-rays alongside our new ultrasound equipment. Dr Emma has also been working her magic with her acupuncture skills.
