While you’re enjoying flowers and chocolates, don’t forget that some Valentine’s gifts can be harmful to pets. Lilies, daffodils, azaleas, and oleanders (just to name a few) are toxic to animals. Chocolate is also a big no no for dogs and cats.

Give your dogs an extra belly rub and your cats an extra cuddle from us today! 💕🐶🐱

Even our own pets get up to mischief!🤭

Biscuit our resident Border Collie, recently decided to test her chewing skills on a laptop charger, an iPhone cord and even ate some of it! Cue a very quick trip to the clinic, where we induced vomiting and took X-rays to make sure nothing dangerous was left inside. Thankfully the coast was clear and Biscuit is feeling much better (maybe little sorry for herself).😱🥹

No matter how careful you are, these things happen! If your pet ever gets into something they shouldn’t, don’t wait, give us a call and bring them in straight away.🐾

P.S. Biscuit is officially banned from all phone chargers for life 🐶🔌🙅‍♀️

Jake and Reggie stole our hearts last week when they came in for their desexing procedures!😍🐶

These big, gentle giants were absolute angels for their procedures! So cuddly, so sweet and so well behaved.🥹 We loved every second of their squishy snuggles and are so proud of them! 🧡🐾

Handsome Hunter and Salem were in for their annual health check today! These gorgeous brothers had their bloods tested, vaccinations and a little manicure too. Such good boys, we love them very much! 🐈‍⬛🐾

⭐️⭐️Remember our beautiful Hope? ⭐️⭐️
She was taken upto the Goldcoast for specialist surgery in December for a lifesaving diaphragmatic surgery. The hernia has returned and she is being taken up for a revision surgery next week. Our first bill was nearly $9000, which we are still paying off and the additional surgery is likely another $3000-5000.

This is a huge bill for such a small rescue so please help us, with any amount if you can.

Newspaper Donations Needed! 📰🐾

If you have any spare newspapers after reading, we’d love to take them off your hands! We use them daily underneath our hospital beds for our patients.

Poor Bob! This brave little guy came in with a very swollen eye and his wonderful owner brought him straight in as soon as they noticed. It looks like he may have been stung by a bee or wasp and he was in quite a bit of pain. 😔

Dr. Kim gave him some pain relief and an antihistamine injection to help with the swelling and his owner will be keeping a close eye on him as he recovers.👏🏼

Bob you were such a trooper! We hope you’re feeling better soon buddy! 🫶🏼🧡

Dr Emma performing electroacupuncture for sacroiliac dysfunction on a show jumper.🐴✨

Electroacupuncture works by placing normal acupuncture needles and then adding a light charge similar to a TENS machine to enhance the treatment. ⚡️

This technique provides great relief for chronic or stubborn musculoskeletal issues and can be used on horses, dogs and cats.🐎🐶🐱

It is generally well tolerated by our patients and this youngster even fell asleep during his treatment 💤💙

⚠️ Warning: Surgical Images Ahead ⚠️

Pepper the almost 13 year old cattle dog had an unexpected adventure at the beach over the weekend. Whilst at the beach with his owner on Sunday, Pepper found a fisherman’s hook with bait on it. Thinking he’d struck gold, he went for it but the hook ended up lodged at the back of his tongue.😱

At first, his owner thought Pepper might have spat the hook out after running off but by midweek, Pepper was unwell. He wasn’t eating, drinking or keeping up on walks, so his owner did the right thing and brought him in to see us yesterday.

X-rays confirmed the hook was still in Pepper’s mouth, stuck right at the back of his tongue and thankfully not in his tummy as first feared. Dr Emma acted quickly performing surgery to remove the hook and stitch up his tongue. After staying in hospital getting lots of love & medication (antibiotics, pain relief, IV fluids + more), Pepper recovered well and is now back at home with his very relieved owner. We’re so proud of you brave boy.🧡👏🏼

This is a reminder to keep an eye out for fishing hooks and bait left behind at the beach. Our pets love to explore and even the most innocent looking treats can turn dangerous. 💙
