🐍With the arrival of spring, our scaly neighbors are becoming more active and it’s crucial to be aware of the dangers they pose to our pets.

Signs of a Snake Bite:

• Sudden weakness or collapse
• Trembling or twitching muscles
• Difficulty breathing
• Dilated pupils
• Vomiting
• Paralysis
• Blood in urine

If you suspect your pet has been bitten by a snake, call us immediately at 6652 1566 or 6658 1744 and bring your pet in ASAP. Do not attempt to treat the bite at home.🏥

As the weather warms up, snakes become more active, so it's important to stay vigilant. Keep an eye out for the early signs of a venomous snake bite in your pets: sudden weakness or collapse, muscle tremors, coordination problems or vomiting.

These symptoms can sometimes be delayed, even if your pet has been indoors for hours. If you suspect or witness a snake bite, keep your pet calm and still and seek veterinary care immediately. Every pets reaction can vary depending on the snake, the pets health and the venom amount.

Introducing Dr Emma!!! 🐾🩺

Emma and her family have recently relocated to Coffs Harbour and they will all soon become very familiar faces in the clinic as they take on the ownership of Rose Avenue Veterinary Hospital and Toormina Road Veterinary Clinic. Though all our regular friendly faces will still be here, Emma will slowly step in to become another reliable vet you can trust.

Emma has a wide range of experience and has worked in all sorts of practices in different corners of the world. From mixed and small animal practice throughout Sydney and NSW to volunteer work all the way in the Galapagos. She has a keen interest in both surgery and medicine having undertaken extra training in orthopaedic procedures.

On top of the routine veterinary work, Emma is also an IVAS qualified veterinary acupuncturist having taken on extensive study to obtain her certification. A certification held by only a small number of vets in Australia.

She has a keen interest in holistic health and understanding how all the body systems interrelate. She believes in working with clients and their pets to find treatment options everyone is comfortable with be it with western or eastern medicine.

Her favourite patients to treat are the golden oldies and helping their twilight years be comfortable and full of love!

Outside of work Emma and her husband Athos spend their time with their two beautiful young daughters and menagerie of pets. They have 2 dogs 🐶🐕 a cat 🐈‍⬛ and 4 horses 🐴🐴🐴🐴

Dr Emma will be at Paws in Pubs tomorrow at Toormina Hotel doing free dental checks and an acupuncture demonstration. Be sure to say hello if you’re swinging by!👋

🌟 Say hello to Luna, the brave Italian Greyhound who recently visited us for a dental scale and polish! 🦷✨

Luna was incredibly brave! Nurse Aynslee made sure Luna felt safe and loved, cuddling with her in her cozy cage and providing plenty of reassurance during her stay.

Introducing Flute!
A majestic, delightfully fluffy kitten with a beautiful black coat and striking yellow-green eyes.

A little shy at first, Flute can be won over with food, toys, and by being lavished with loads of love. He especially loves chasing games, and finding a warm spot on a fluffy blanket afterwards for a well earned nap. Once settled he’s a real little purr machine always ready for pats.

Flute lives harmoniously with other cats and dogs so should be fine in a multi-pet household with slow, careful introductions. As he’s still a bit shy though, a family without younger children would probably be most suitable for him.

Flute is microchipped, had two vaccinations, is up to date with flea, tick, and worm treatments, and will be desexed when old enough, which is included in the adoption fee.
