Emlohruo Cavalier King Charles Spaniels

Emlohruo Cavalier King Charles Spaniels It all started in 1989 when we began our search for a little Black
and Tan Spaniel. It took us a long time to find the puppy we were looking for. Ch.

Finally after two years we found the one we were looking for, and we purchased our first puppy, "Priny".Six months later we purchased another Blenheim Spaniel, "Emma".

'Dallas' came to visit eighteen months later, and it was love at first sight.. 'Dallas' spoilt us..We showed him to his Aust. title
and had two litters of puppies from him producing, "Gabby"...

'Dallas' won many 'Group' and in 'Show' awards...

This was the start of our love affair.... with the

CAVALIER KING CHARLES SPANIEL HAILED NATION’S MOST OBEDIENT BREED AFTER WINNING ‘OBREEDIENCE’ FINAL AT CRUFTS

A team of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels won the Obreedience competition at the world’s biggest dog event, Crufts on Thursday 9 March.

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel team, named the Wagtails, proved themselves more obedient than the nine other breed teams that made it to the final at Crufts, held at the NEC in Birmingham. The other finalists were as follows:

Golden Acorns – Golden Retrievers

The Labrapaws – Labradors

Manchesters Reunited – Manchester Terriers

The Super Novas - Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers

The Russellers – Jack Russell Terriers

The Collieflowers – Border Collies

Shepherds Delight – German Shepherd Dogs

Stafford Stars – Staffordshire Bull Terriers

Hugabern – Bernese Mountain Dogs

Obreedience, an exciting team obedience competition, was introduced at Crufts 2014 as a special display event. Now in its eighth year as an official competition, Obreedience continues to grow and entertain the crowds that come along to support their favourite breeds.

The winning team members were:

Sam Smith with Willow (Glenbrows Lucy) from Sevenoaks, Kent

Janette Ross with Buddy (McKenzie Cepheus RL3 EX) from Bedworth, Warwickshire

Jennifer Dearlove with Autumn (Kathysgirls Hazel) from Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire

Maggie Dawson with Violet (She’s No Shrinking Violet Rw) from Watlington, Oxfordshire

The team’s captain Sue Pinkham said of the team win: “It’s absolutely fantastic – it’s our third time here and on the last two occasions, we came third, but to win today is just absolutely brilliant.

“Crufts is always such an unbelievable atmosphere, the camaraderie between everyone, everyone watching and the spirit of it all - you just can’t beat it!

“Providing we get through the heats and qualify as one of the top ten teams, we’ll absolutely be back again next year.”

Vanessa McAlpine, Crufts Show Manager, said: “Congratulations to all the Wagtails team on a highly deserving win. The team were a fantastic example of highly trained, obedient dogs and the bond between each dog and their owner as well as well as the comradery within the team was incredibly heartwarming to see.

“The Obreedience competition is a brilliant way to show off the fact that any breed, given the right training and socialisation, and of course patience from their human counterparts, can do well in competitive obedience. We look forward to seeing which breeds excel in Obreedience at the heats being held throughout 2023.”

Each Obreedience team comprised four handlers and dogs, who took part in two rounds. The first was a heelwork round completed as a group, with the dogs being assessed on their ability to complete different moves whilst remaining synchronised with their team mates. The second round featured four set exercises and each member needed to successfully complete one of the four different exercises. Points were deducted for any faults and the team with the most points won. The exercises were a retrieve (handler’s own article), a send to bed, stop the dog, and scent over articles.

A letter from a lovely Lady.
Hi Betty,
14 years ago you kindly gave me Brodie Bear ( Toby) because he had a heart murmur and a pink nose.Thought you might like an update. Toby has heart problems now but still going strong on medication. He is the love of my life. Thank you so much for giving him to me.
Toby lived till 16 years old . Even though he had a heart murmur he lived to a very good age. Just goes to show you never know how things will turn out. Toby was line bred back to the beautiful Buraba Dallas. The foundation of my breeding.

Dog owners across the Nambucca Valley and Urunga are being warned to look out for signs of the deadly parvovirus. It comes after a larger than normal outbreak, where sadly, a number of dogs died.

Are you ready for the fireworks on New Years Eve?

Here are our top New Years Eve tips
(.....for your dog!)

- make sure your dogs microchip details are up to date! And if your dog isn’t microchipped please microchip them!

- make sure your dog is wearing a collar with a name tag (and preferably your contact phone number)

- use a diffuser with Adaptil ( a doggy feel-good pheromone/smell that is proven to be calming) or a collar that is filled with it (call us to discuss these two products).

- if you are keen on essential oils (never to be used directly on your dog!) there is a theory that lavender and chamomile are calming whilst rosemary and peppermint produce the opposite effect.

- consider a "thundershirt" if you already have one (a tight fitting vest which provides a calming pressure around your dogs midsection)

- sound proof your dogs kennel (think Clark Rubber type noise dampening rubber).

- sometimes "white noise" like the airconditioner, washing machine, radio, TV(etc) can be used to block the noise of the fireworks.

- if your dog doesnt have a kennel or crate then try to ensure they have a safe place to hide (preferably their favourite place rather than one you decide on).

- provide your dog with its own entertainment- eg a kong stuffed with frozen peanut butter or cat food.

- make sure you are calm too!

- if your dog is food motivated throw them their favourite treat after each loud firework- BBQ chicken (skin off) is the best!

- if you have tried all of these and your dog is still worried there are definitely medications which can help- we are always happy to work with you to find the most effective one.
