Sad news tonight from his family - one of my long term, favourite guests has reached the end of his 16 + Years 😢 Brockie, the white boy with no ears (white cat = skin cancer 🙄)
He was such a lovely, friendly boy who was so easy to give tablets to - he would just open his mouth and let you pop the tablet down his throat !! Obviously hadn’t seen the cartoons about giving cats tablets ! 😂
Many of my other cat families will be sad to hear that Brockie is gone - he was so easily recognised when we walked into the cattery 🥰
Sympathy to Kathleen and Bill - you will miss him ❤️

So last evening all the dogs are at the back door, waiting for dinner except Vera, who I can see is lying on the grass, playing with something 😳🐍So I rush to the door, screaming "Vera, what have you got??" - she stands up with it in her mouth - phew, I think it's a blue tongue, but no, when she reaches me, it's a turtle !!
Is it alive? Is it injured? Who would know?? There's slight damage to one spot on the side of its shell. I messaged my vet Sandie (who IS a turtle aficionado) with a picture and she says it looks fine and to bring it in to the clinic today, which I did.
Turns out it's perfectly fine - I brought it home and sat it on the dam bank - too slow to get a picture as it ran into the water 😃
First time for everything - never seen one here before.

Ummmm.....so who decided that the pups needed the run of the entire back yard?? Tess...?? Colin...?? And how did you open their gate? Apart from anything else, it's too damned hot to be playing up !! All locked up in the aircon now to siesta for the rest of the day 😎

Unfortunately, the reception on the mobile is often pitiful, so a text message is the most certain method of contact.....carrier pigeons are also very reliable.....

I'm old enough to still be gobsmacked by the changes in communications. When I first came to study in Melbourne, Mum (in Perth) and I used to make appointments on Sunday mornings (cheap STD rates) to talk to each other. I would take bucketsful of 20c pieces into the GPO on Elizabeth Street and call her.

This morning I spoke in person to the the owner of Harley and Benson - I need to know what brand and variety of food they eat as my very naughty boy Colin had stolen their tub of food off the bench in the dog room overnight 😡😡She is on a ship amongst the sub Antarctic islands 😳😳 Incredible!!!!

Whilst the current wave of new COVID cases is growing, I will be implementing new drop off and pick up protocols for my clients and their pets.
There will be no access to the interior of the cattery and no access to the house. I would ask clients to deliver their pets to the area immediately outside the office and to not proceed anywhere else. I will be wearing a mask and I would very much appreciate it if clients would do the same. There is a QR check in area outside the office door.
I am triple vaxxed and not really concerned about personally contracting COVID, however with all the animals I have in my care, I simply cannot afford to have to go into isolation which would then limit my clients' access to their pets, nor have I got the time to sit in a testing queue for hours - my heart goes out to all the people impacted by this current emergency situation.
Please don't take any of this personally. I am just attempting to keep as much control as possible over my own exposure in order to be able to care properly for your pets.

Total chaos ensues every morning - the Labradors greet the new day with enthusiasm. Simba, the boss dog (he wishes!), attempts to instill some discipline, but to no avail - nobody takes any notice of him 😂
