Pateman Racing are hiring ground staff at our Connewarre stable

Mornings Monday-Saturday. Start and finish times may vary depending on day light hours but a minimum 4 hours a morning.

General stable duties. No racing experience required but you must have general horse handling skills/experience. We are more than happy to take on people from an equestrian back ground who have never worked in racing.

Pay rate in accordance with the Horse Racing Award.

🏇 Racing theme at The Geelong Business Club monthly meeting last night where we were given an insight into the breeding, training and gambling aspects of the industry by Stephen McHenry, prominent Geelong accountant and retired rails bookmaker. Lesson 101 - the bookie will always win in the end!

I was pleased that my good friends and successful trainers Stephen and Jess Pateman of Pateman Racing were able to join me as my guests. Steve is also a leading jumps jockey while Jess is a prominent national show jumping competitor having just been part of the winning Magic Millions show jumping team.

Larry and Mapping have now both retired from jumps racing … Larry is off hunting and Mapping is a handy showjumper … with Larry off to his new home yesterday we thought it was a good time to reshare this…

A really special win on Historic … A horse we have had since he was an unraced 3yo (now 9yo), family owned, first win over jumps as a jockey/trainer in our family colours, and for it to be at Warrnambool just made it even more special. Historic has now won a total of 6 steeplechases, he was a $7,000 purchase from Lindsay Park and was bought under the recommendation of , he has now earned $207,000 in winnings. Named “Historic” as he was the last ever offered for sale at auction. Lead through the ring by non other than the late Sir Patrick Hogan himself
