Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

To our amazing followers and supporters, I put a call out for urgent help just before Christmas time. It had just gotten too overwhelming for me. The vet bills and food costs have built up and I had no where else to to turn.

You guys donated, you guys shared, you guys gave me so much support. We ended up raising $18,630 which is truly amazing – it is just $1,370 off goal and in these times I am so so grateful.

You can read some of the amazing messages of support here: https://little-life-sanctuary.mygiveeasy.com/urgent-help-for-our-precious-kittens-and-cats/donatenow

Every dollar that you have donated has gone straight to the kitties and cats in our care. It has been so gratefully received. My heart is full and I can’t thank you enough.

We receive no government funding so are completely reliant on you, our supporters for help. You are the only ones that can help us in our time of need, and rally you did.

Thank you so much

Much Love, Martin ###

To our loyal supporters, this is a post I wish I never had to write. It’s Martin here, Founder of Little Life Sanctuary. Tonight, I need to let you know how dire things are and ask for your urgent help..

Running our sanctuary, doing all I can for the cats and kittens in our care is hard. I won’t lie. Day in, day out. It’s overwhelming most of the time. On top of this, I have been stressing for a number of weeks now about the finances on a daily basis.

Our fundraiser is not near our goal and to be honest, it’s really causing me significant anxiety. Our goal of $20,000 we have set to be honest just covers 1 month of vet bills and food. Given we are not even at 50% of our target this stresses me so so much.

I’m really hoping for at least another 10 kind souls to chip in to our fundraiser by clicking here now: https://little-life-sanctuary.mygiveeasy.com/urgent-help-for-our-precious-kittens-and-cats/donatenow

I live a simple life. I’ve always put our cats and kittens in our care first. I’ve rationed by meals, not bought anything extravagant ever, always wanting the cats and kittens in our care to have the very best.

The very best food, the vet best vet bills, the vet best tender loving care. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Every spare dollar goes to them. It’s how I’ve always done things. Prioritising them at every single opportunity.

I receive no real additional help and very small amounts of donations coming in, especially due to the cost of living crisis we are all feeling. The donations have all but dried up.

We usually only one run fundraiser a year. I hate asking for funds. I really do. I would prefer if we were self sufficient. Before I go to bed most nights, I pray that we don’t have to ask ever again for funds. Tonight is it. I hope I haven't left it too late with Xmas and all but I just haven't had time. xx

But as I write to you now, we urgently need funds and I can’t hold on any further. We need the funds and urgently. This is one our shot at raising funds. I hope you understand.

I’ve tried to build up our Facebook following. I’ve been told that once you get to 5,000 likes that the money flows. I’ve tried to build them up. I promise I have tried hard. However, I just don’t have time. I spend nearly 24 hours each day, give or take 3 to 4 hours for sleeping, dedicated to the cats and kittens in our care.

As it stands we have 1,211 followers on our page. A strong loyal army but I suppose it makes sense why we struggle for funds. I don’t have money for boosts. I wish I had money to pay an agency to help write posts. I just don't. It's the truth. Every single dollar goes to the cats and kittens.

Just like Emily. She is a torture survivor. At the time of her rescue, only 300 grams of her were left. I want you to image what a precious kitten looks like when all they have is skin and bones. In such a terrible way It was too sad for words. We looked after her 24/7 for months at a time. Giving her the best possible care possible and after a few set backs she slowly recovered. Today she is strong and happy, living us forever.

Running a sanctuary is tough. We have volunteers who are amazing but it’s literally a job for life. Every cat and kitten we take into our care, is one for life. They will live with us forever. It's how our sanctuary works. There is no sugar coating.

My commitment to you is I will continue to be there for them every single minute of every single day, just like we have been there for Emily but I cannot continue like this without the funds being raised.

There will be no Xmas celebrations for me, no BBQ, no family lunch. I haven’t had these in years and to be honest I’m resigned to this. No birthday celebrations, no dinners, no lunches out. Just looking after the cats and kittens in our care.

Tonight we urgently need to get to our goal of $20,000 (to be honest we need to exceed it). This is it for our sanctuary. Our annual fundraiser where we need this post to absolutely go viral. To get this seen by all kitten and cat lovers in the world. How amazing it would be to hit our goal. It would truly be a Christmas miracle.

Just $5 from each and every one of you would get us to our goal. It’s the cost of your next cup of coffee but one that will help us save more cats and kittens in their time of need.

If you can please write the word DONE below after you have donated and please please share this far and wide. I can't stress how important is that we get thousands of likes on this post, it's our only chance of raising these funds to keep us going.

This is our big chance to save lives and relieve some of the stress we are currently facing only a few sleeps out from Xmas.

To our loyal supporters, it’s Martin here, Founder of our Sanctuary, reaching out for some urgent help. I really wish I didn’t need to, this close to Christmas and all but I have no choice. It’s for the kittens and cats in our care.

We need to get our vet bills and food costs under control urgently and with the calls for help increasing I need to reach out for some vital help.

I’m hoping at least 10 of you will kickstart our urgent fundraiser to clear our vet bills and food bills by clicking here now: https://little-life-sanctuary.mygiveeasy.com/urgent-help-for-our-precious-kittens-and-cats/donatenow

I wish I didn’t need to ask for your help. You need to know I’ve put off asking for as long as possible. I live a simple life, trying to save as much funds with how I live my life so more can be spent on making sure the cats and kittens in our care have the best life possible.

I know how tough it is for everyone out there but tonight I have no choice but to put it on the line and ask for help. We don’t ask often, we really don’t, but tonight it’s really urgent.

Our sanctuary is built to preserve life. To heal and to reduce suffering is our mission. For the kitten and cats. A forever home.

The sanctuary cares for and homes abused, mistreated, or special needs cats and kittens and animals in need. It is to give these little souls a chance of life. These precious precious souls who normally come to us in their darkest hours of their life.

Just like Eleanor. On the way home from work, I saw the frightened kittens huddling near a creek. I stopped, but they ran off. I went to the nearby farm and asked the farmer if he would know about these kittens. He said he would shoot them if he found them. Too sad for words.

I managed to persuade him (finally) to let me trap near that spot on his property. To my joy I was able to trap Eleanor. She has a great life and has become very friendly with me, always coming for cuddles. She is shy with visitors.

Let me tell you about Mishka. Mishka was rescued from a colony under threat. She still is a distant colony cat, that is, she always comes for her food when I call, and we then chat a little. She doesn't like me coming closer than a mere. That's her distance. But she loves her life and has a group of friends she hangs out with.

When we take in a precious cat or kitten, it’s for life. We need to make sure we have enough funds for ongoing care, food and vet bills for their entire life. Sometimes it’s really hard to budget. I try my best but emergencies throw your careful financial management out the door.

Also, we are dealing with cats and kittens that have been through a lot in their lives. This often causes complications and more costs.

For me, Xmas is just another day. There is no lunch, no celebration, no get together – just taking care of our cats and kittens. I’ve dedicated my entire life to their precious animals. It’s tough, it’s unreleneting but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I will keep going for their sake. They deserve only the best.

Tonight, we need to raise at least $20,000.

Just $5 from each and every one of you would get us to our goal. It’s the cost of your next cup of coffee but one that will help literally save precious kittens and cats in their darkest hour.

You have my commitment that every dollar that you donate will go to the saving lives and giving them the best care possible.

If you can please write the word DONE after you have donated below and please please share this post far and wide.

We need you. This is our SOS.

Much love always Martin ###

I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce you to some more precious cats at our sanctuary. I hope you enjoy getting to know them.

Clever: Clever was a frightened little girl and has epilepsy. She needs regular medication to be stable. Even though she hates it when I medicate her, she has gained trust and comes to me and loves when I hold her firm and massage her body, which is even with medication, usually tense. She is so happy.

Pippi: She was my Christmas present last year. On Christmas day, I got an urgent call to come to the rescue of a mother cat with kittens from a dog attack. The mum was mauled, and we had to amputate her right front leg. But she managed to defend two of her kittens.

I named them Mary and Pippi and the mum Esther. Esther became very friendly and found a home as a clinic cat in Canberra. Mary and Pippi loved each other so much and were so playful and happy together.

Sadly, Mary developed laryngeal paralysis. Despite all efforts from vets and specialists, she passed away. Pippi grieves to this day and keeps looking for her. She often comes to me for comfort. Pippi wants to be held like a human baby, lying on her back and curling into my arm. Then she looks at me and talks. Pippi is well and has found playmates. They all love the adventure playground of the sanctuary.

Today I wanted to introduce you to two special cats at the sanctuary and tell you a bit about their background as well as showing some recent pictures. I hope you enjoy!

Introducing Issy! Issy is a severely disturbed and traumatised girl. Over the years, she has gained trust, and she loves it when I talk to her and say her name. She then winks at me, and I wink back, and we do that a couple of times.

When I do administration on the computer She then sits near me and is content just being there at her chosen distance. She is at peace, and she found her happiness here.

Sundara has been highly aggressive and in the early stages it was difficult to serve her a treat. But over time she has gained trust and relaxed in her way.

She even enjoyed massages and cuddles. In a funny way, she sometimes still lashes out after pats and purrs, almost as an afterthought like she is saying: 'I like you now but Sorry, but this swipe is in my job description'. But she has found happiness and peace here.

Loving Treble

Treble was rescued by my wonderful friends from the Canberra Street Cat Alliance.

He came to the sanctuary and was initially a fearful, distant colony cat.

But after a short while, he gained trust. Asked for treats and started to follow me around when I was working in the sanctuary. I talked to him and he liked it.

One beautiful day, he sat next to me, and when I gently patted him, he took my hand and curled around my hand, holding it against his tummy. This became a tradition.

At night, he came to me and cuddled in my arms and curling around my hand.

Then Treble became very sick. The vets and specialists tried hard, but he suffered.

He passed away peacefully and loved in my arms.

Treble was 1 and a half years at the sanctuary. He had an all too short life but was happy and loved in this time. I miss him terribly.

One never knows when you take the last picture of a loved one.

Every nice word, extra treat, and loving cuddle matter. Every happy moment counts.

To our loyal supporters, I need to update you and turn to you for some urgent help. I’ve been completely run off my feet. I am so so sorry I have been a little quiet on Facebook. It wasn’t my intention.

There is just not enough hours in the day especially when you are dedicating every waking minute to the cats and kittens in care. I mean that, the cats and kittens are my life, they are here forever and I do everything I can to do what I can for them.

I hope you understand. We have no choice but tonight to launch an urgent fundraiser which I’m really hoping you will support.

It would be great if 12 of you could kickstart our efforts to clear our vet and food bills by clicking here: https://little-life-sanctuary.giveeasy.org/urgent-help-for-our-cats-and-kittens

It’s been busy. Really busy. I literally haven’t had a second to stop. I wanted to launch this fundraiser at the beginning of May. You have to believe me, but time has gotten away and we are now in a desperate situation for funds.

It’s been overwhelming. I love what I do and we see such great results like Ester and her litter of kittens. I got a call to help a mum cat and her kittens that she defended after a dog attack. She suffered several bite wounds and a badly broken leg and so needed it amputated.

Imagine caring for 7 kittens that needed syringe feeding every 3 hours around the clock. That was the situation we faced. We just couldn’t say no to Allegra, Diego, Lorenzo, Mario, Nero, Augustus, and Caesar.

Balancing this with our every increasing workload, especially when tiredness well and truly set in after doing this for weeks at a time. They all are now weaned off and have a great time. They are with us for life and we will do all we can for them.

There’s also Muppet, an older, sick street cat whom we rescued. Muppet was not in a good way and needed numerous vet visits and tender loving care. Muppet was rescued in Canberra's north.

He is an older gentleman who was abused and dumped. He is very frightened and would not have survived the winter on the streets. He is FIV positive and needs ongoing care.

Also I need to tell you about Clever. Clever has epilepsy,. Her seizures were life-threatening. She needs daily medication. With the medication, she is now well and comfortable and has gained weight but the road ahead is still long.

It’s important to remember that every cat and kitten that comes to us stays with us for live. We take in those that desperately need help. It’s a life long commitment.

We need to raise $20,000 tonight to pay off our bills and make sure we are back on level footing.

Just $5 from each and every one of you would help us get there. It’s the cost of your next cup of coffee but one that will help us so very much.

If you can please write the word DONE below after you have donated and please please share this far and wide. We need all the help we can get tonight for our cats and kittens that are with us forever.

Dear Loyal followers, we’ve just had a committee meeting as things are pretty grim. I need to let you know where things are at and ask for your urgent support. It’s at this stage for our rescue, and I need to put it all on the line tonight and ask for donations.

It’s Martin here, the founder of our rescue. We try so hard, but try as we may, we can’t catch a break at the moment.

Tonight, we’re asking at least 13 of you to chip in to our urgent fundraiser to save our rescue and get us back on some sort of financial footing. You can chip in here: https://little-life-sanctuary.giveeasy.org/our-urgent-plea-for-help

I am mentally and physically exhausted. Late nights, early mornings, getting up at 3am. To be honest, this post should have gone up over 12 days ago, but I just don’t have the time. We are stretched and stressed. I am fully committed with my team of volunteers to this rescue and the animals, but at the moment, we are frustrated.

We are frustrated due to how hard we try our financial position is letting us down. Vet bills and food bills, we have bills everywhere, and we just can’t keep up.

I was put on this planet to save animals like Dolly, an older street cat, and Kelly, Dorian, Sylvie and Sundara and so many others in need but at the moment we just can’t keep up.

Let me tell you about Sundara…She is a disturbed cat. For maybe around 2 years, she just lashed out at anyone.

She does now headbutts with me and loves to have her back massaged, and then she purrs away. Sometimes, after the massage, she lashes out again, but it's almost like an afterthought, like: Oh, I forgot, that was in my job description!

Also, I need to let you know about Sylvie…

Sylvie is extremely frightened and shy. Living in a normal home would be a nightmare for her and the family as well. But in the sanctuary and its playground and space, she has relaxed and is happy.

These cats stay here forever. It’s a life long commitment. All I try to do is to make sure that whoever comes through our doors have a safe, comfortable place forever.

The bills however keep coming and so do the phone calls and the SMSes. It is unrelenting. I know we need to keep on going. Our team does, too.

Tonight we need to raise $20,000. It’s urgent and it’s vital as we have so many vet bills to pay off.

Just $5 from each and every one of you would get us there. It’s my Xmas wish that we get to our target. It’s my only wish to be honest. For the animals xx

If you can please write the word DONE below after you have donated and please please share this far and wide. It is so vital that before Xmas hits we raise these funds. I trust you understand.

Please donate now: https://little-life-sanctuary.giveeasy.org/our-urgent-plea-for-help
