Lucky little fella
💙The Adventures of Chip the Poodle.
💙Yesterday morning Jennifer and I drove to Crookwell to pick Chip up from Dr Catherine who owns Culley Vet Services. Dr Cat gave up most of her Mother's Day to collect Chip from Jade who found him in the bush on the side of the road just outside of Crookwell. Dr Cat anesthetised Chip as he was limping badly, and she needed to see what was wrong with his back leg and hip. It appears that Chip was hit by a car while out on his adventure! His hip was dislocated so Dr Cat put his leg/hip back into place and strapped him up, the strapping will stay in place for 10 days when our vet in Sydney will x-ray Chip again to make sure that his hip and leg are all in the right place, he has grazing on the inside of his leg which looked fairly fresh making the Vet even more convinced that he was hit by a car. Dr Cat also cleaned Chips eyes as they were glued shut, she clipped a lot of the brambles and spikes out of his coat so that when we met up with them yesterday Chip was looking like his old self again. He was put on a drip while under anesthetic and had a nice feed once he was awake again. He stayed at the vet clinic on Sunday and overnight until he came home with us yesterday. Of course, huge thanks must go to Dr Catherine for helping Chip out on Mother's Day, she made sure he was free of pain, comfortable and hydrated.
💙We are ever so grateful to Jade for her part in Chips return, Jade saw Chip on the side of the road and along with two young guys they managed to capture the little villain and get him to safety. Hip Hip Hooray to all three of you. Gratitude to Arthur @ Co Pet Detectives for offering to help us find Chip pro bono, what a kind gesture that was, thank you Anne-Marie.
💙Thanks to everyone in the Goulburn/Crookwell/Canberra areas who posted like crazy on Facebook community groups to let everyone know that our boy Chip had slipped his harness and gone off into the wilderness in the Crookwell area. He managed to stay out of sight for 9 days and then popped up on a country road looking sad, cold, and lost. Jennifer (Chips foster carer) has had a rough couple of weeks with all sorts of things going wrong in her life and then of course Chip was the straw that broke the camel's back!!! Jennifer was quite hysterical when I phoned to tell her that Chip had been found on Sunday morning, it was such a relief as Jennifer had driven to Crookwell two Saturdays in a row to put up posters and to look for her little foster boy Chip. We must not forget Lynne who had taken Chip on trial a week before his disappearance, Lynne was out walking Chip with her other little dog Poppy when he managed to escape the harness and disappear very quickly, Lynne and her friends have spent many hours out looking for Chip and we thank them for that.
💙Finally huge thanks to Dora a lovely lady who has been following our page for some time, Dora was sad to hear that Chip had been lost and when he was found she happily paid all of his vet costs. You are very kind and generous Dora, thank you. ###
💙We have lost a few dogs during our time, the thing that I always try to do is remain positive, dogs are smart little characters and despite all odds they are usually returned to us….in 35 years I have lost 1 dog that was never seen again. I still think about him especially when a dog like Chip goes missing.
💙We are not sure at this early stage if Chip will be rehomed again, he may stay with us as a Sanctuary Dog, we will wait and see how he progresses.
🩷With many thanks Team Denise at Paws Inc.
