Bodie's honourable tail 🐶❤️
We're so happy to hear just how well Bodie is settling in with his new family.

"He is currently being crate trained at night and has quickly become part of the family. Yesterday he completed some puppy training at our local vet (5 sessions total). In my humble opinion, he was the valedictorian of the class!"

"Although he has been a little challenging to potty train, he is getting better each day. He is a very intelligent dog. He is slowly learning how to “heel” during walks and he is HIGHLY motivated by food and treats."

"I just wanted to say thank you for allowing us the opportunity to adopt Bodie."

Thank you Kristin for sharing your Tails of Honour. We are so grateful you and your family opened your heart to Bodie and that he is now living his best life with you 🥰🐾

This Valentine’s Day ❤️ put your health first and your pets’ too by keeping up-to-date with heartworm prevention.

Just one mosquito, just one bite, that's all it takes for your pet to develop the deadly disease.

Known to be notoriously difficult to treat, the damage to your pets heart and lungs can be permanent. Not only can recovery take months and be costly, it can take months or years for symptoms to appear.

Prevention is better than cure 🙋‍♀️ Ensure your pet is protected year round.

‼️ IMPORTANT UPDATE: PET MICROCHIPPING‼️
Microchip Pet Registry company, HomeSafeID, will soon cease to operate online.

What does this mean? 👇
If you know your pet is registered with HomeSafeID, you will need to change your microchip registration to another company 📝

If your pet's registration isn't updated, should they go missing or are found, vets/councils/animal shelters will no longer be able to view your pet’s ownership details listed on their microchip when it is scanned, making it difficult to reunite you!

ℹ️ Find out how to check your pet’s microchip and change to a new registry 👉 bit.ly/3Qe3ZbT

If you don’t know your pet’s microchip number or have lost their paperwork with their registration details, contact your veterinarian, council or animal shelter. They can scan your pet and provide the microchip number.

If you adopted a pet from RSPCA with a HomeSafe ID registry or had a microchip implanted at a RSPCA Community Day, while we cannot update your pet’s microchip details for you, we can help you find your adoptee’s microchip number and answer any questions you may have on 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625) or your local shelter.

PET PREPAREDNESS TIPS: Helping pets during severe weather ⛈️🐱🐶
Over the past few days and weeks Queenslanders have been resilient to the heavy rainfall, floods and unpredictable weather events.

Although furniture, housing, and items can be replaced over time our pets are priceless ❤️ Whether it's leaning on your community to keep your pet in a secure yard or taking in a family member's pet while they clean up and rebuild, read some of our tips to help before, during and after a storm.

06/02/2025

We are aware of posts on social media about a particular person alleged of being cruel to animals and accusations that RSPCA Queensland is not acting. This is simply untrue. We can confirm that the situation is under investigation by our Inspectors and being acted upon in accordance with the Animal Care and Protection Act (2001).

RSPCA Queensland investigates all animal welfare concerns.

Naming people on social media before investigations are complete can have a detrimental outcome on the situation and can result in trial by media.

If you have a concern for an animal’s welfare you can report firsthand information to our team via 1300 ANIMAL (265 624) or by lodging a complaint on our website.

However, social media sharing and harassment of named individuals can become detrimental to cases. If this takes place in the lead up to sentencing, or if it is apparent in court that there will be significant media coverage of the case, then a court will often take account of this ‘extra curial’ punishment dealt out to the offenders by the community via social media. If this happens, courts reduce the penalty they would otherwise impose, on the basis that the offender has already been punished, or is likely to be further punished, by the embarrassment and harassment in the public arena. We have seen this happen with past investigations.

Do not give the courts any excuse to lessen the penalty for the offenders by engaging in online harassment.

Meet Coffee and Friday! 👋
At 15-years-old these Shetland Pony (mixed) besties are looking for a luscious green paddock to gallop around, feel the wind in their hair and the sun on their backs ☀️

Although it might be tricky to tell, Coffee and Friday have been through some tough times, and with limited human interaction they are a little bit cautious of people. But with some TLC from our Team and their amazing foster parent (not to mention carrots 🥕 - their favourite!), and being by each other's side for support, they are starting to trust again and their personalities and beautiful hearts are beginning to shine through 🐴❤️

On Coffee and Friday's wish list is a calm and patient forever family who will help them progress at their own pace to becoming ultimate paddock companions. They would also love a home with other horses or ponies who they can spend their days enjoying the sun with 🥰

If you have a Coffee and Friday-sized hole in your life and paddock see their profiles online 👉 rspcaqld.org.au/adopt and apply to adopt today! 🏡

"Its been a nervous few days for lil Suki moving into her new home, but after some patience and sweet pats, we have had a little burst of confidence!"

"She has really opened up to me today! She's sitting in her little bed near me now, cuddling up to my legs, purring and wanting attention. She even started playing with toys!"

Alone and in need of a helping hand 🦜💔
In the midst of a bustling construction site, a small miracle unfolded when a nest of 5 baby Pale-Headed Rosellas was discovered, abandoned and vulnerable. With no sign of their parents, their fate hung in the balance.

The 5 babies, brought into the Wildlife Hospital still snuggled together, were quickly examined by our specialist Veterinary Team.

The initial moments were critical, as the Team worked to give the birds fluids to rehydrate their fragile little bodies.

Following their time in hospital, the baby Rosellas were entrusted to the capable hands of a skilled Wildlife Carer and are now on a path of recovery.

These baby birds are just 5 of the 23,000 native animals we see every year... and why we need your support.

Our dedicated wildlife and rescue teams work around the clock to save vulnerable and endangered animals. Their crucial work to save our precious wildlife is only possible thanks to community support and generous donations ❤️

Help our wildlife beat the heat! 🐨🦘
As we try to stay out of the heat, remember our wildlife who also live under the blistering Queensland sun.

While our wildlife have clever ways to keep cool they can still succumb to heat stress. But you can help give them a helping hand 👇

💧 Leave bowls of fresh, clean water in shady locations near shrubs or bushes, and away from pets so they can drink undisturbed. Avoid metal bowls as they can retain the heat
🐾 Shallow dishes are best for smaller animals
🌿 If using a large container, provide a rock or stick so any small animas can climb out if they become stuck

🥵 This summer, keep an eye out for wildlife suffering from heat stress. And those who may have burns to their feet - a common case we see with possums who live near tin roofs or iron fences who can bear the worst of the heat as their journey sees them travelling along these hot surfaces.

☀️ HEATWAVE WARNING ☀️
Temperatures are set to start soaring from today! Remember your pets as you start to sweat or sit pretty in air con with our top tips.

🐶🐱🐹 For domestic pets:
🏡 Check they have ample shade and ventilation all day (remember, the sun moves throughout the day - what's shady in the morning won't be shady at midday or in the afternoon).
💧 Ensure you pet has plenty of access to cool water, in multiple bowls incase one tips over
🌅 Keep your pet walks to sunrise and sunset, if the ground is too hot for you it's too hot for your pet!
🚗 Never leave your dog in a car (a cracked window makes little difference to the temperature) or on a hot ute tray
😎 Add pet appropriate cooling enrichment to their day from frozen pupsicles to a wet towel for them to lie on in a cool and shady spot.

🐨🦎 For our wildlife:
