This guy, see this cute little dude who could do no wrong?
He’s an absolute menace when we’ve got girls on heat!!
He will chew, dig, climb, jump and Houdini his way out of any enclosure we’ve got besides his crate- which isn’t our style to have either him or our girls on heat locked up 24/7 for weeks on end. All of our dogs run together full time.
There’s always a sickening feeling of ‘ who’s the daddy’?’ When we’ve had a home litter and between the 3yo helper who let our girl outside this week because ‘ she looked sad’, and this boy who will literally chew through shade cloth screens, scale fences and dig his way out to get to them- it’s becoming way too stressful to have both entire male and females at home… so what do we do?
Desex him, put him in a guardian home, just lock him up? When there’s no one on heat or he’s allowed to hang out with them he is THE BEST and cannot fault him!!
Sending him away every time someone comes on heat isn’t really an option as we don’t have anyone locally to take him but without eyes in the back of my head - it’s a stressful time.
What do other breeders do ? particularly those with young kiddos ( who leave doors open on the regular 😅😅)

If you have a new puppy, get out there and get wet! It's time for a RAIN PARTY, and we it starts to storm...lets party again! Storm Party!🌨🌩

Don't miss this valuable opportunity to expand your puppy's confidence and exposure to new things, by keeping them locked up inside while we receive this beautiful rain. With the summer that's forecasted, it may be a while before they get to experience it again!

Help your puppy associate the rain/thunder/lightening and the smells and changes related to them, with positive experience!

✅️ Grab some of their favourite treats and play food games with them in the train

✅️ If they have a favourite game they enjoy - get out the toy and play with them in the rain

You can also have parties inside, but it's good to make sure they also go outside and get amongst it as well.

If your puppy doesn't seem bothered by the weather, that's great, but reward that! Still get out and confirm to them, that feeling calm about the rain etc, is how they should feel.

❌️ Don't do nothing, and wait for them later down the track start to show signs of stress, because you ignored the fact they weren't bothered about the weather in their earlier developmental stages.

Crate training ❣️❣️
Spending some time getting the puppies who are heading on transport used to this style of crate.
Our babies all sleep in crates from 5 weeks, with a crate in their whelping box as soon as they’re safely able to move about but we will be focusing on more time in individual crates to help with this transition once home 🏡
