Unfortunately for the last two months we have been absolutely inundated with requests to take on stray and dumped kittens and the calls just keep on coming in 😥 it's a really stressful time for us at the moment. There are more cats needing homes than what is shown in these photos. Prices have been reduced as these cats need to find homes AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE however, all of these kittens have received a second chance at life and they will not grow up to contribute to the toxic cycle of excess breeding 🌈 So there's at least one positive part to this craziness!

Left to die inside an enclosed box at the Jandowae dump 📦😿

Fortunately this mummy and her four kittens were discovered by a kind stranger and we were asked to help. How could we say no? 🥺

This little lady has been a Super Mummy raising her kittens and she's also fostering an extra 3 kittens that were found abandoned (likely dumped as well) at a local camp site.

This is the sad and unfortunately the very common reality of what happens with un-desexed pets 😞

This is what we are fighting to prevent and why we are doing what we do! 👊🏻



We have been so chaotically busy with the rescue pets and the store in general lately and have been struggling to keep up with regular updates! We will try and share some more pictures and stories over the next week ❤️

Meet Nutmeg! 🐾

Nutmeg is a 4 year old female Pomeranian. She is one unique little lady... She only has three legs! Don't worry, her missing limb does not hold her back from loving life! With a very heavy heart, Nutmeg's owner has surrendered her to us due to health circumstances.

It's amazing how much cuteness, cheekiness and sassiness can fit inside such a tiny little package! Nutmeg is very sweet and friendly and just wants to be loved 🩷

She needs a home where she will be treated like a princess and get spoiled rotten. She needs someone who will spend a lot of time with her and give her plenty of attention. We think Nutmeg would do best in a home without small children or bigger dogs. Given her special condition and her situation, Nutmeg needs a very specific and perfect home.

She will need to be an indoor dog with access to a fully enclosed fenced yard.

Nutmeg is desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and treated for worms and fleas ✅

We work hard to save and rehome surrendered, stray and unwanted cats, kittens, dogs & puppies and also volunteer for the WDRC helping to rehome pound pets 🐱🐾

Our rescue work is completely non-profit and any funds raised help us to cover the ongoing costs of vet work, medications, dog and cat food, kitty litter, enclosures, equipment and more.

This is a service we provide to our Western Downs community and unfortunately the demand for us to take in pets is growing every day. We can only continue to keep doing what we do with the support from others 🩷

Abbie is well behaved, gentle and very sweet. Her ideal home would preferably be with an older person or couple who has plenty of free time and with someone who is in need of a loyal companion ❤️

Abbie will be best kept indoors with access to a fully enclosed fenced yard. She would be suitable to be kept on her own but she gets also gets along well with other small dogs.

Buddy is an 8 month old male mini dachshund. He has been surrendered to Barnyard Rescue Pets due to family circumstances and is now on the hunt for a new perfect home! 🏡

Buddy is very high energy and loves to run and play! He can be a bit of a handful. He must go to a home with owners who are patient, persistent and prepared to give him appropriate training. Previous experience with dachshunds or small dogs is preferred.

He will require a fully enclosed fenced yard and to be allowed to stay indoors as well as outside.

Buddy will be desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and treated for worms and fleas prior to going to his new home ✅

A MESSAGE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC PRIOR TO CONTACTING A RESCUE:

RESCUE IS NOT A DUMPING GROUND.

We are been inundated with people wanting rescue to take in thier animals & these are just some of the reasons:

No time for my animal.
I’m having a baby.
I don’t have the time to walk it.
It’s now been destructive.
It’s bored.
It’s barking.
It’s scaling the fence.
It’s escaping.
It’s an accidental litter because I had an undesexed male & female.
I did not research the breed.
I did not consider my life when getting a puppy.
I didn’t consider my senior dog when getting a puppy.
I’m going travelling and I need to rehome my animals.

These are just some of the reasons for needing to surrender.
We understand that people do commit to the wrong animal. We understand that people over commit to animals. We understand that circumstances change. We very open to that.

But we are being bombarded like a lot of rescues.

People need to start taking responsibility for their own actions. They need to do something about the animal, it’s barking, it’s territorial or it’s reactive. They need to engage a trainer, not default to a rescue. Rescues do not receive any funding at all so have very limited resources.

Owners need to look at options instead making a rescue feel guilty when they say the only option is “euthanasia”.

Rescue’s are choking, all run by volunteers, most with families and full time jobs.

Educate yourself prior to committing to an animal that’s going to be with you for life. Rescue have no issues with circumstances changing but rescues are not a dumping ground.

Please don’t comment with things like but at least they are contacting the rescue and not dumping the animal etc.

People are are contacting rescues when they have not tried to change the behaviour or if the animal has never been socialised.
There are some very nasty people that contact rescue, especially when asked so what have you tried? What have you done to help your animal? What training have you tried?

THIS IS NOT A WINGE BUT A VENT..no need for comments, especially NEGATIVE.
