Hello fellow tree growers
A lot of you ask me how do I stop the birds eating the fruit
I found this simple but effective way to stop the featherd pests.
The link below will take you to the segment I found.
Also put a bird bath, apparently the birds are looking for hydration as much as eating the flesh.
When the birds drink the water they are not as interested in the fruit.
So I have read but I have not tested this method.
Try the method in this link though 99% of us have this in our coffe every day so its something we all have in the pantry.
Good luck.. let me know how it went for you.
I know its another thing to do but it will save the fruit.

Hi to all my Followers/ Customers /Friends
Some people asked what plum trees i have in stock over the last few days,
I ventured down the back field nursery today to grab a nice fellow some bare root plum trees & I had to go through all the varieties down the row which has 12 varieties on the row 100 of each variery.

I have 12 varieties as follows...

Wilson Plum
Black Santa Rosa
Tegan Blue
Angelino ( not Angelina the European plum)
Red Candy
Black Amber
Purple Majesty
Narrabeen
Winks plum (courtesy of the late Calvin Winks) he bread it..
Queen Rosa
Pluot
All in one Almond (Self fertile)...

I will get the nectarine varieties up here tomorrow.
All the 12 varieties of peach's and apricots were 100% burnt out and non existant.

I am grafting new lots of peach and about to start the apricots right now that will be available in mid to late October or at Garden Fest in 1st week October at the show grounds pravilion & at the Dalveen nursery any time after solong as another 5 year Drought/ 2 year flood/ or inferno doesn't take them out again. 😳🙄🥴
What doesnt bankrupt you makes you stronger right.... so I am told....

But I am back and with more varieties than ever before...
All the awesome good old best of the best to eat in stonefruit.
A massive thank you to Horris Rapisatta At Ballandean for the grafting wood for all these trees.
Your my hero mate.. thank you so much for your generosity without your budwood I am not able to do this.
Same goes to Tom Dunn for budwood over the years thank you Tom.

Good morning to all the fruit tree home gardeners who took interest in my reopening and the others whom commented ans or messaged me.
I spent all day sorting potted trees out and cleaning one field nursery up,

I have not been able to spend much time inside the potted nursery but when I was w**ding and retagging yesterday,
I failed to realise just how many trees are in here
I was only able to get through 2 blocks of trees and there is such a range of all sorts of apple trees from basic every dsy varieties to all the 1800s varieties that came over on the tall ships like cortland, spartan, mollies delicious, Bess pool, and much more
But i found lots of apples like jonathans, cox orange pippin, wine sap, lady williams, and i havent got to the main blocks of apples yet.
I found nectearines, peaches, and today (sunday) i venture into plum world and have the next block to w**d and retag.

These are a mixture of high chill trees for the granite belt to tamworth plantings and i also have a range of low chill trees in plums and nectarines and some low chill peaches for areas like gatton yangan warwick allora toowoomba 300 hour hill areas not like here upwards of 800 hours chill requirements.
And i have not reached the peach and necterines blocks yet so i am a bit exited to see what I will find.
Not to mention i have 10 more varieries of nectarines and 10 varieries of plums down in my field nursery.
I am only 1 person so in the comming week or so I will try my best to get a stock list happening.
But in the meantime if you want some yummy old variety fruit trees just come on out to the nursery at Dalveen and have a sift through the sorted our tees and I am sure you will find something that catches your fancy.
Cheper prices than most the only more expensive trees are the 3 & 4 year old trees and they are atound the price of what you pay for just a normal tree in a largeer garden centre.
I dont have those huge overheads so i can keep my prices down more.
I am open today Sunday 5th and Monday 6th May 2024
Thank you
And maybe see you in the plapples

A big hello to all my loyal customers whom have been buying fruit trees from my little fruit tree nursery for the past 8 to 10 years.
I have been closed for 6 months after the October fires very nearly shut me down for keeps.
But Just to let everybody know that i do still have a lot of fruit trees for sale,

I actually need to move them to homes to keep things going.
I am open this May 4th & 5th weekend BTW.

I have been re setting the field irrigation to the various field nurseries i have, the top half of the farm is complete but I still have not even got to the bottom 5 acres of nursery yet to reset the mainlines but its a work in progress.

Due to 6 months of refencing the entire property and internal fencing aswell as the irrigation and other maintenance.
Time has been a big factor & because all my time went to repairing infrastructure the summer grass got away from me a bit and some of the potted trees are a bit w**dy mor summer grass than anything but i have started to sort out trees and have started some autumn grafting with the spare potted rootstocks.

I do have quite a few different nectarine vatieties and also a selection of plum trees that the fire hopped over and missed.
I will be starting to pot them up this week one variety at a time to put more selection on the floor.

I have vatieties i have never had before in the plums and necterines so if anyone wants some come on out this weekend and we can even dig up what you want,
The peaches and apricots were not so lucky and were all singed.
I will be grafting more peaches and apricots soon though,
I would love to have had all the w**ds under control but that has been out of my control due to the disasterous circumstances.

I want to boost things along a bit and need to sell some trees to do so and get some labour in to clean everything up so its more presentable.

So if you would like to plant some fruit trees now is the best time of the year for that and I would love to see people take some nice trees home to plant.
I will be open this weekend the 4th & 5th May 2024
So come on out and see if there is something that you would like to buy.
Hopefully I will see you tomorrow or sunday morning till noon.
Cheers
Brian
