Continue to strive for excellence even if the culture that surrounds you enjoys the bare minimum, remain humble and always be willing to listen, because there should always be room for growth and development, be willing to accept criticism because no one’s perfect and those that care for you should keep you accountable. It was an honour to be able to work alongside and the NT K9 handlers over this last week and over the last few years when opportunities arrived. I respect and appreciate the work you guys do for the Northern Territory. I thank you for your friendships and all of the valuable lessons in Odour detection plus Patrol work and hope that I was able also mentor and develop you guys in some shape or form through out the course and amongst our training sessions.

It’s almost time to say goodbye to this legend and settle into the realisation of no longer being able to train together. Thanks for allowing me to be apart of this weeks journey Reg. Your passion and work ethic are inspirational and the standards that you aim for and that you hold are one of the biggest values I miss the most. All the best to your big move and thank you for your mentorship and guidance over my career, but most importantly through this last year.

Missing a few members on completion day, however I had a great time through out these last 5 weeks. , thanks for letting me get involved and assist in providing some basic, theory, tools and practical implications to assist these teams to have a more clear communication system, tools to create and improve obedience and remove undesired behaviours.

I love all aspects of dog training, but there is something special in activating and shaping the olfactory system within a canine to gain a specific and desired behaviour.

This weeks major focus was aimed towards building value in the crate and Yoda’s bed. Started off capturing the desired behaviours early and towards the end of the week building towards an endurance hold on or in the platform and now getting repetitions in for the command with a lure. Putting the work in. I love watching Yoda enjoy the session.

A new learning era as I begin to develop and mentor the newest member for the Fox K9 group. Educating their handlers this week through basic dog theory such as:
Marker Training 🐕
Classical Conditioning🚨
Operant Conditioning.🛠

This is now being taught through online means and I’m glad to her that this little feller is showing good signs of conditioning to a verbal marker and showing more engagement with his owners.
