CANOLA OIL IS RICH IN OMEGA 3 FATTY ACID!

We've seen a post doing the rounds recently claiming there isn't omega 3s in Canola oil. THIS IS SO WRONG AND MISLEADING. Many board certified canine nutritionists utilise this in their practice when needing to provide quality omegas to improve key health aspects.

Canola oil actually contains one of the the highest amounts of omega 3 and 6 compared to most others. The main concern people have with Canola oil is that it tends to be genetically modified.

BUT in Australian there are a number of small local farms that produce GM Free Cold-Pressed Canola Oil. Which compared to many other oils is likely better quality in terms of quality omegas and small batch manufacturing practices.

Please do your research before sharing and believing information to be true.

WELFARE & ETHICS MATTER TO US!

The primary source of crocodile for pet and human consumption in Australia is from farmed crocodiles. Many Australians don't know of the cruel life these animals live, so their skin can be sold for manufacture into designer handbags.

Many are live transported mouth duct taped in plastic poly pipe tubes (lots die during transport), and most are kept in small cages their entire life to ensure their skins don't have blemishes. When in man-made ponds they are piled in,living in the most un-natural environment, unable to be the true predators they were destined for.

Unfortunately, the NT is home of the crocodile and crocodile farms, so we've seen first-hand (yes our team has seen inside crocodile farms) the horrible life they live for human monetary gain.

While a novel treat for our pets, for us the welfare and quality of life of all animals matters to us.

We have never and will never include in crocodile in our products. It's a conscious decision we have made, taking a stance that the welfare of all animals matters, not just that of our domestic pets.

We're not here to judge your decision, but we're here to educate, as many people aren't aware of the life of a farmed crocodile.

WE LEAD BY EXAMPLE!!

Because the pet food industry is NOT about animals! YES Even "Raw" Food needs to be held more accountable!

Listing blanket ingredients like "seasonal vegetables" or "vitamins and minerals" on your product labelling IS NOT OK. If you are truly developed by vets and nutritionists then listing exactly which ones should truly matter.

Minerals and fruit and vegetables all provide different nutritional value to the food. If you don't know what's in it each time, or it varies, how can you guarantee the nutritional analysis?

It's time we start DEMANDING this to be the norm.

We're proud to list every single ingredient that is in any of our products and if we can't source it, the product won't hit the store shelf! All of our raw complete blends also have the nutritional profile on the label and a full nutritional analysis listed on our website.

In a world where everyone is upselling, we're here to give you the hard truths!

STRESS is a leading cause of many diseases, yet a factor in pet health we WILDLY ignore.

Factors that can add to an animals stress vary for the individual animal but things we should consider as factors of possible stressors for our pets can include:

❌ Home environment (loud noises, violence, over-stimulus, reduce rest, sleeping spaces)
❌ Physical discomfort
❌ Extended confinement
❌Training methods (we openly don't support e-collars, shock collars, prong collars, haltis, alpha rolls, hitting, kicking, yelling)
❌ Walking environment (if that can't cope, are reactive) it's too stressful and you need to slowly work on a desensitisation protocol
❌ Moving house
❌ Being left alone
❌ Kennels and boarding facilities

We get so many enquiries about natural worming options so heres the LOW DOWN 👇

🪱The only way to know if your pet has worms is to TEST! A faecal float or PCR are the two easy to access tests.

🪱 Even if you worm every 3 months with chemical wormers, this doesn't guarantee 100% protection. Parasites are adapters and can build up resistance.

🪱 Not doing anything is NOT a preventative. Some climates such as the tropics are more likely to results in pets with parasite burdens.

🪱 Parasites can be deadly in pets and can cause many chronic health issues, including death! NO JOKE, we've seen it first hand!

🪱 There is a lot of research on the use of natural antihelmintic herbs on animals. Way more than pumpkin seeds! Check out our website for some great studies.

🪱 While fresh feeding is great for optimising health and limiting the likelihood of contracting parasites, most parasites such as hookworm are contracted in the environment on their paws then licking them and through sniffing things in their daily world, not their food.

🪱 We don't recommend giving pets Diatomaceous Earth as an oral parasite preventative either. It is very abrasive and can upset the stomach and when used consistently can cause issues such as bloating.

A common retort we often hear is that natural options "aren't backed by science".

❌❌❌WRONG! ❌❌❌

Most herbs have in fact been studied longer that pharmaceuticals. In fact many modern medicines came from plants. The drug Va**um was based off the herb valerian for its anti-anxiolytic properties as one example.

To check out more studies you can conveniently find a "the science" section under every product on our website.

Just here to give you Raw Truth. Real Health.

If you're looking for the best for your 🐕 or 🐈‍⬛ these are my biggest RED flags when looking at what companies are spruiking about their products.

1. 80:10:10 are not complete and balanced. They're usually most lacking in Iron, Zinc, Manganese, Choline (to start with).

2. Not displaying on their websites or being willing to share full nutritional profiles. Protein, Carbs, Fat, Ash, Fibre and Moisture contents aren't full nutritional details.

3. It's a requirement under the Pet Food Standards 2023 that all pet food products have a batch number and list all ingredients on their label.

4. If a product on the box or label says only a single protein it should only be a single protein. If the ingredients list others (high on the ingredients list), this is also against the standards.

5. Buffalo and Beef are NOT the SAME. They have completely different profiles. Don't be fooled!

As pet owners you have the right to ask these questions and get answers.
That's how change can happen.
