Today our hearts are very heavy and with the family at mourning the loss of a true top end critter!

I (Tom) moved to the Territory nearly 9 years ago to get 6 months of big croc experience before I went back to Sydney, but characters like Burt (and the wife of course 😉) are why the Territory became home.

It sounds crazy but Burt was an incredible mentor, working alongside that animal made us better keepers and built an appreciation for how bloody smart crocodiles really are, which we strive to share with everyone we meet through our events. .

I always joked to Charlotte that if Croc Cove ever wanted to retire him I'd build him a pen at home in a heartbeat. He was the favourite, a stubborn kindred spirit and we'll never ever forget him!

Some really good advice and on the last day of for 2024! We second the importance of helping our froggy friends, they're a critical part of the ecosystem and Australian urban areas have seen a substantial decline in numbers! Glad to see this little guy is on the mend 🐸 💚

This Green Tree Frog was bought to us sporting a distinct black mustache - its necrotic tissue possibly caused by a burn or some sort of trauma. The good news is that she is responding well to treatment and should be soon be fine to return to her home. While this frog isn’t contagious it’s important to bring sick frogs in. as there are a lot of diseases of concern in frogs. Frogs have disappeared from much of the globe due to diseases. We work with Wildlife Health Australia to discover more about wildlife diseases.

The definition of Lounge Lizard! This lucky Perentie was sent to us from another amazing Wildlife demonstration business in Queensland for us to use in our displays. With a little more socialisation and chilling around inside, he will be coming out to our shows to meet you all!!

Really informative and pro-active info session put on by the Darwin poultry club on Sunday. Something such as Avian influenza poses a very real risk to our critters, so it was very helpful to us in our risk management and planning!
