National Rottweiler Day - 28 June 2024

The Rottweiler is self-reliant, good-natured and devoted to its family. It is an obedient breed that is eager to work, but it does not need to be trained to guard, as this is a natural instinct.

Classed as a medium to large dog, the Rottweiler is correctly proportioned, compact, powerful and noble. It is black in colour with clearly defined markings of rich tan on checks, muzzle, throat, chest, legs and also over both eyes and at the base of the tail.

Just one day after its 2012 Million Paws Walk fundraiser, RSPCA killed sweet, gentle Max (pictured) at their Rutherford facility. In fact, RSPCA NSW kills more than half the pets “cared for” at their shelters.

Some good information 👍

Many don't know this information! Remember every second matters during a choking incident. ❤ 🐕🐩🐶🦮🐕‍🦺
1. Place the dog on their back. Brace the back against the floor. Straddle the dog while adjusting yourself based on the size of the dog. Position the head in “in-line position” with the airway parallel to the floor.
2. Make an open diamond shape with your hands. Place your thumbs on either side of the trachea below the ball or object. Grip the “V” of the jaw using lip/cheek to protect fingers.
3. Push with a J-stroke down and out against the ball until it ejects from the mouth.
Both this method and the Heimlich method has been proven to work in these scenarios so don't hesitate to save your dog.

Why Purchase a Pedigree Papered Puppy?

1. The majority of responsible registered breeders screen parents for hereditary diseases, thus reducing the likelihood of inheritance in their puppies. In Australia breeding partners should be screened for: HD; ED; JLPP, LEMP and have eye certification stating that they are clear of entropian, ectropian and have similar eye colour. Mouth certification should also be done certifying full dentition and scissor bite. HD screening is compulsory before a litter can be registered with the ANKC. There may be additional screenings done, and will vary from country to country.

2. Lineage of pedigree puppies can be traced back for generations as opposed to non-papered puppies, (which may not be purebred), as they have an unknown heritage. Although the parents may look like a purebred there is no guarantee that their ancestors were!

3. A pedigree gives a good indication that, as an adult, your dog will display the breed traits. i.e.: appearance, character and temperament. Whereas this may not be the case with a non-papered puppy when it reaches maturity. In fact it may look nothing like a Rottweiler when it matures.

4. Information and guidance regarding how to care for your puppy is more readily available from registered breeders.

5. Purchasing from a responsible, registered breeder, stands you in good stead of taking home a puppy that will enjoy a long, happy & healthy life.

UPDATE: Chinook has found her forever home 👍

Rehoming Chinook, my 1 year old female. Lots of energy. Training a must. Bloodlines from world winning international stock. Hasn't been raised around children. Very friendly and wants lots of cuddles 24/7. Has been raised inside a house so is house trained. She is crate trained. Would get along with a male but not other females. Not raised with cats so that is an unknown.

Located in Darwin, Northern Territory.

If you feel you have the right home for this girl please reach out. Chinook isn't free though.

UPDATE - Frosty has found his human ♥️

We are rehoming Frosty, a 2 year old male. Frosty can be very stubborn when he wants to be so training is a must. He is still growing but not suitable for breeding. Was raised inside a home so is house trained. He wasn't raised with children. He is okay with other females and not males, unknown with other animals but I would say not.

If you think you have the right home for him please reach out. Frosty isn't free.
