Richard's hoof infection has proven very stubborn, so stubborn we're trying experimental procedures.

Richard escaped from live export 14 years ago. He's now a very old man at 17, and his hoof just doesn't want to heal.

We are injecting antibiotics into the area immediately by the hoof, with a tourniquet to force the antibiotic to be absorbed locally, where it is needed.

Hoof infections can be very difficult to deal with because there is very little blood supply and the antibiotic can have trouble penetrating the hard hoof matter.

This is called a regional perfusion and it's the best thing we can do to save his hoof. For each perfusion he is sedated as the procedure can be quite painful. He needs to have three perfusions before we can assess if the procedures have been successful.

Please wish the best for a speedy recovery for old man Richard!

🌟 We're Almost There—And It's All Thanks to You! 🌟

I can’t begin to express how grateful we are. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve raised an incredible $11,055 toward our target! 💚

When we started, I had to share a difficult truth—Farm Animal Rescue was facing a major funding shortfall. But you, our amazing community, stepped up. Your kindness and compassion have already made such a difference for the animals in our care.

We’re now just $945 away from our $12,000 goal! That final stretch will help us get back on track so we can continue providing food, medical care, and safety to over 100 rescued animals—including Davis, the lamb abandoned in a freezing saleyard, and Jasmine, the newborn left to die on the side of the road.

🐑 $25 provides 3 days of food for a rescued animal
🩺 $50 covers a vet check-up for an animal in need
🏡 $100 provides food and shelter for a vulnerable lamb like Davis
🍽️ $1,000 feeds the entire sanctuary for a week

We’re so close, and every dollar counts. If you haven’t donated yet, or if you’re able to give a little more, now is the time to make an impact. Let’s smash this goal together!

🙏 From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Your support is changing lives.

Richard and His Blue Boots

Richard is still wearing his blue boots as he fights through a painful hoof abscess. This has made it hard for him to move around, and just when he needed his strength the most, he was hit with pneumonia last week. But Richard is a fighter, and we’re doing everything we can to help him heal.

More than a decade ago, Richard made a daring escape from live export and found a life of safety and love at the sanctuary. He has been a leader among the goats, a gentle soul, and a friend to everyone who meets him. Now, in his twilight years, he needs us more than ever. Every day, he receives careful treatments, special feeds, hydration, and endless love from his caregivers.

At Farm Animal Rescue, we cherish every animal through their happiest moments and their toughest battles—because their lives matter.

Please send Richard your love and well wishes as he continues his journey to recovery.

We’re So Close—Thank You for Getting Us Here! 💙🐑

To our incredible community,

We are blown away by your generosity. Thanks to you, we’ve raised an amazing $9,330 toward our $12,000 goal! That means we’re just $2,670 away from ensuring our rescued animals have the food, care, and safety they need.

This campaign is about more than just numbers—it’s about survival. Since July, our costs have exceeded our donations by $11,880, putting the future of our sanctuary and cruelty investigations at risk. This shortfall threatens our ability to provide food, shelter, and urgent veterinary care for the animals who rely on us every day.

Animals like Davis, the tiny lamb left behind in a freezing saleyard, and Jasmine, the newborn discarded on the roadside, depend on this sanctuary to heal and thrive. Without funding, we can’t continue this lifesaving work—or rescue more animals from suffering.

But we’re not there yet—and we can’t afford to fall short. Every dollar you give goes directly to keeping the sanctuary running, feeding the animals, and exposing the truth about cruelty to farmed animals.

If you haven’t donated yet, now is the time. If you have, please share this with a friend who cares as much as you do.

🌱🐑 Urgent: We’re Falling Behind—They Need You!

Since July, our necessary costs have been $11,880 more than we’ve received from supporters. That shortfall puts rescued animals—like Davis, the tiny lamb left behind in a freezing saleyard, and Jasmine, the newborn discarded on the roadside—at risk.

This is hard to say because we know how much love and support this community has already given. But the truth is, we need you now more than ever.

We refuse to believe that we can’t turn this around—because we’ve seen the incredible power of this community. With your help, we know we can get back on track.

We know we can change this. Together, we can keep them safe, fed, and loved.

💙 $25 = 3 days of food for a rescued animal
💙 $50 = A vet check-up for an animal in need
💙 $1,000 = A full week of food for the entire sanctuary

They’ve already endured so much. Let’s not fail them now. Your donation today can turn their suffering into safety.

After thinking we had survived Cyclone Alfred unscathed yesterday, last night we were hit very hard as the system moved onshore north of us. Sadly, we have sustained many trees down, some in habitats, flooding to barns and some structural damage. We are currently at 50% power and have no water supply.

Conditions remain dangerous with torrential rain the last two hours. All of the animals however are safe, just grumpy they can’t go outside,

Martin, Nelson and Malcolm are delighted to announce that everyone at the sanctuary is A-OK now that Cyclone Alfred has continued on it's way! We have plenty of rain ahead, 250mm today!, but everyone is good and heading out to the paddocks for a while.

Thank you to everybody for your support and concern.

Martin, Nelson and Malcolm were rescued from a slaughterhouse in 2021, just hours before their turn on the kill floor.

Today, they party!

Sally and the carrots.

Sally is 14 and is recovering from a leg injury. Supplementary carrots are great as a low-sugar high fibre treat for recovering animals.

Sally’s mother was rescued from the beef industry the day before she was going to slaughter. Her mum gave birth to baby Sally here at sanctuary.
