5 years ago today our lives changed forever. It was the day that we said farewell to our 17 year old girl Tessie and the day we realised that the care we expected for our precious girl was just as important as the care that we would expect for any other family member.

Whilst we could not fault the pet crematorium we chose at the time to care for Tessie, her passing ignited a passion in us to open our own pet crematorium where we could offer the same care for families and their beloved pet family members as what our human family members would receive.

5 years on and we miss her as much today as we did in those first days, but we are so thankful for what she inspired us to do. We feel her courage, her beauty and her strength in everything we do.

In our first post of 2025 (yes, we have been a little slack with our posts 😬) we want to wish you all a very Happy New Year and say thank you for hanging with us.

We understand that the start of a new year without your beloved pet family member can be daunting, but as Dr Alan Wolfelt explains “As one year comes to an end, HOPE is an expectation of a good that is yet to be. It is trust and faith that things can get better. When grief and the need to mourn impact our lives, thank goodness for hope. We can be present to our grief and yet hopeful about the year to come.”

The weather wasn’t the best but it didn’t stop us from having a beautiful evening remembering our precious pet family members at our Christmas Memorial Service.

Sadly, we know the weather prevented some of you from attending, but as promised, we made sure that we placed your pet family members photo on our Forever Loved Tree on your behalf. Here are a few photos of the evening.

DUE TO THE WEATHER: Please note the entry we were intending to use can no longer be used for tonight’s service. Please use the main entry via the service road, you will drive past the chapel and through to the car park.

For those attending our Christmas Memorial Service tonight, please refer to the photos attached in regard to location and parking. The first photo is of the Heartfelt Funerals Chapel located at 289-293 Deception Bay Road, Deception Bay where our service will be held, and the second photo is of a map for extra information about where to park. Although the Chapel is facing Deception Bay Road, the Carpark is located at the back of the property off Tallagon Court. Please follow the Heartfelt Funerals parking signs (yellow marking on map) and head along Tallagon Court, Deception Bay and drive into the back parking area. When you arrive please walk down to the Chapel (the area is well lit). Rain, hail or shine we look forward to seeing you tonight and paying tribute to your pet family members. If it is bad weather and it is risky for you to be out, we understand, your safety is our priority, please rest assured we will still include your precious pet in our service. If you do venture out and it is wet, please drive safely and bring an umbrella for walking from the Carpark to the Chapel.

We are busy preparing our Christmas Memorial Tree hangers for our Memorial Service next week. Today is the last day to let us know if you will be in attendance so we can finalise all our hangers and prepare for the evening. To those of you who are unable to attend, we will place your pet’s hanger on our Forever Loved Tree on your behalf.

AN INVITATION TO OUR 2024 CHRISTMAS MEMORIAL SERVICE ⭐️

It is that time of year again, we’re many of us are faced with the heartbreaking reality that our precious pet/s won’t be with us to celebrate Christmas this year. For many, this will be the first Christmas without them, and for others, although it may be the second year, or even more, it is equally as difficult as the first.

Dee and The Team at My Best Friends Farewell (My BFF Pet Cremations) understand that for some, this Christmas will be one of the saddest and loneliest experienced, and although your pet is no longer physically with you, they are always in your thoughts. As part of our ongoing commitment to allow you to mourn the loss of your precious pet in a safe place, we will be hosting a Christmas Memorial Service where you will be able to pay tribute to your dearly loved companion, honour their role as part of your family and celebrate the joy they brought into your home.

Since starting our little family business last year, we have outgrown our space to hold our service at the crematorium as we did last year, so we are very grateful to our dear friends at Heartfelt Funerals for their generous offer to use their beautiful Chapel for this year’s service. During our service you will be invited to place a special tree hanger on our Forever Loved Memorial Tree in memory of your pet. Following our service there will be an opportunity to share some light refreshments with others in attendance.

IF WE HAVE CARED FOR YOUR FAMILY THIS YEAR OR LAST YEAR, YOU ARE INVITED TO ATTEND OUR 2024 CHRISTMAS MEMORIAL SERVICE TO BE HELD AT HEARTFELT FUNERALS CHAPEL, 289-293 DECEPTION BAY ROAD, DECEPTION BAY ON WEDNESDAY 18TH DECEMBER COMMENCING AT 6.30PM.

It’s that time of the year again where we choose a special charity/group to make a donation in honour of the precious souls that we have cared for during the year.

This year we have chosen Pets Matter Too.

Pets Matter Too is a start up charity created by a very special young lady named Hannah, who for many years has been collecting dog and cat food, treats, toys and equipment to pack Christmas hampers for pets in need. In previous years, hampers have been provided to St Vincent de Paul to distribute alongside their regular family hampers.

The idea came to fruition after Hannah was distributing food hampers and saw all the beautiful animals in almost every front yard. This got her thinking about how many of these pets would receive very little, or nothing for Christmas, and how families might struggle to provide for their pets given the extra financial pressures at Christmas time.

Pets Matter Too aims to emphasise the importance of providing not only for the most disadvantaged members in our community but also their beautiful furry friends.

Last Friday My BFF presented Pets Matter Too with a variety of items to use in their hampers this year. This donation was made on behalf of all the families who chose My BFF this year and in memory of your precious pets (AKA family members).

To Hannah and her team of volunteers at Pets Matter Too, we thank you for caring and for your invaluable service to those in need.
