‼️Tick Paralysis‼️

Planning on heading away over the summer with your furry friend? 🐱🐶

If you are visiting a potential tick area please make sure your pets are protected against deadly paralysis ticks.

Paralysis ticks are located along the eastern coastline of Australia. They cause paralysis by injecting a neurotoxin into pets.

The good news is this is preventable!!

Please speak to us about options to protect your furry friends, including a 12 month injectable option - only available at your vet 💉

🎄Deni Vets Xmas Party🎄

We had an amazing time at our staff Christmas Party on Saturday! We enjoyed the amazing scenery of the Deni River.
It was such a joy to have all our amazing team members and their families come together to celebrate. We are so grateful for our hardworking team.

From all of us at Deniliquin Veterinary Clinic, we wish you, your furbabies and your families a wonderful and safe Christmas 🎄 🐾

Please ensure your canine babies are vaccinated 🐶

Please ensure your canine babies are vaccinated 🐶

Due to the rise in cases of parvovirus across Australia, the AVA is reminding owners to make sure their dogs are up-to-date with their vaccinations to protect them from the highly contagious and potentially fatal disease.

All puppies from six weeks of age should be vaccinated against parvovirus and other canine diseases. Follow-up vaccinations are also required, and your local veterinarians can advise on the best type of protection for your area.

If you are unsure of your pet’s vaccination status you should contact your veterinarian for advice.

🐍 SNAKE WARNING 🐍

With the weather warming up snakes are becoming more active. We have seen multiple pets bitten by snakes, so a reminder to be vigilant, walk your dog on a lead, try to keep your lawn cut as short as possible and ensure your yard is free from leaf litter, piles of logs, or other “hiding places” around your yard which can be attractive hiding places for snakes.

Bite wounds are rarely visible on animals so it is important you know what symptoms to look for:
~ Sudden weakness or collapse
~ Laboured breathing
~ Shaking or twitching of the muscles
~ Vomiting
~ Dilated pupils
~ Paralysis
~ Blood in urine

Sometimes symptoms can be followed by a ‘spontaneous recovery’ however, this is not the case! Please still contact us.

Snake bites happen quickly and need to be treated straight away for the best chance of survival. There are tests that we can perform to determine if your animal has been bitten.

If you suspect your pet has been bitten by a snake, please give us a call straight away so we can prepare for your arrival.

‼️☀️ Hot weather warning ☀️‼️

Today is predicted to reach 38 degrees, it’s important that we are on alert for the well-being of our pets.

Heat stress can affect pets in an instant. It is an emergency situation and can be fatal.

~ Avoid exercising your pet in the heat; walk in the early mornings or late evenings when temperatures are cooler.
~ Before walking, test how hot the surface is by placing your hand on the surface for 5 seconds. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for your pet. Their paws can blister and burn.
~ Make sure they have a cool, shaded, and well-ventilated area. On very hot days, this might mean moving them inside.
~ Provide access to plenty of fresh drinking water, this may include multiple water bowls and/or a small doggy pool.
~ Never leave pets unattended in hot cars.

Some signs of heat stress may include:
~ Heavy panting
~ Salivation
~ Difficulty breathing
~ Bright red gums
~ Lethargy
~ Collapse

Please keep a close eye on your furbabies, and if you are concerned your pet may be suffering from heat stress, contact us asap on 0358802888.
