Aria was dumped out the front of a local vet clinic with her newborn kittens. She has been an amazing mum and now that her babies are all grown up, it is time for her to find her forever home.

Aria is stunningly beautiful with her fluffy blue-grey coat and green eyes, but her personality stands out even more than her looks. She loves being around people!

Aria was abandoned in a carrier cage with her newborn kittens on the front doorstep of a local vet. Aria is an incredibly smoochy girl who jumps up on her hand legs to headbutt your hand for...

Happy Home Tail 🐱 ❤️ Bob was spared euthanasia by a kind-hearted soul, but was having to share the affection of his caretaker amongst tens of other cats. He was not up to date with vaccination, wasn't desexed or microchipped, and he needed multiple teeth extractions. After his vet work he was adopted and is now living his best life!

From Sian:
I just wanted to share some photos of Mr Bob since we adopted him 🤍 He is the most playful, sweet, loving and obsessed little man. The best company to us and lovessssss scaring his chicken sisters when they come to the window 😂

Thank you to everyone who came to visit our stall at the Melbourne Cat Lover's Festival on the weekend! It was so busy we failed to take many photos so if you took any at our stall, we would love to see them!

Thank you to all of the volunteers - Filiz, Ryanne, Sarah, Anup, Pristina, Taran and Pauline. Without you, we would not have had a stall!

Thank you to the festival organisers, kind security guards, showgrounds venue manager, and fellow exhibitors. We had plenty of challenges along the way, including injuries, a car break down, a car accident etc. The way everyone pulled together to help each other was amazing!

Thanks to Petstock and BlackHawk for your kind product donations! They are already being put to good use.

We've had a lot of interest in fostering since our last post - which is absolutely amazing! So in the hopes we can answer some questions and interest more people in fostering, here are some commonly asked questions:

What supplies / assistance is provided?
- Absolutely anything you could need! Food, litter, toys, bedding, and of course vet assistance is all provided to our foster carers.

Do I need to have foster experience?
- Whilst it is preferred if people have foster experience, it definitely isn't a requirement! We are happy to work with any level of experience - all that's required is a love for cats and a willingness to spend your time and love into making the cats flourish!

Can I still foster when I have animals of my own?
- Absolutely! We recommend that the foster cats be kept separate to your own, at least for a week to allow for quarentine, but after that, provided your resident pets are happy with the fosters, they can definitely mingle under supervision! All of your resident pets will need to be desexed, up to date on vaccinations, and flea and worm treated.

Do they need to be indoor only?
- Yes, most of our cats have come from the streets and we believe they've had more than enough time outside and now deserve to be pampered and loved indoors and indoors only!

Do I need to drive?
- No, we can provide transport, and car pool kitties to and from vet appointments and adoption events!

Do I need to arrange the adoptions?
- You can do as little or as much as you like - some carers temporarily house cats until adoption, others create profiles on PetRescue, answer adoption enquiries and facilitate the adoption, or volunteer at adoption events. It is entirely up to you, and we understand we need to be flexible.

Which vets do you use?
- We work with a large selection of vets - namely Wyndham Community Vet, Lower Plenty Vet, Laverton Vet, Sunbury Vet, All Creatures Sunbury, Sunbury Animal Hospital, The Vet Project and we also work with a home visit vet Dr Michael Beattie!

I can't foster, is there any other way I can help?
- Yes absolutely! You can adopt, volunteer with transportation, donate, or even just spread the word!

Where are you based?
- Our headquarters are in Diggers Rest, but foster cats can often be at other foster carers homes so pick up may often be at other locations.

If that all sounds great and something you'd love to start - please send us a message with some information about yourself, and we'd be happy to chat further and send you a foster form to get you started!

Hi everyone, looking for rescue for 60-70 strays in Sunbury.

We are full, and without additional carers, these cats will end up at the pound.

The cats are almost exclusively blue-grey and white and absolutely stunning, but need socialisation. Some are just timid, some are spicy.

Dear cat lovers, please sign this petition.

Despite rescues and welfare organisations expressing concern about the government's plans to label all stray cats as "feral" and expand the use of poisons and shooting to control cat population, it appears the "Draft updated threat abatement plan for predation by feral cats" is planned to go ahead.

We do not deny that cats are murderous little f***ers, and that is one reason we encourage responsible cat ownership including housing cats indoors or utilising a cat enclosure. However, we rescue almost exclusively stray and feral cats, who under the new plans would be dead, rather than given the chance to become a loved pet. It is not a cat's fault that it is homeless and scared, it is the fault of humans. Surely we can find a more humane solution!

Stop the planned Australian eradication of ALL Stray cats - they are not Feral cats

Kitten season is here. Please, do not leave food out for stray cats. Doing so won't stop them hunting wildlife. It will only increase fertility and attract more cats to the area (which increases the breeding pool).

Sunbury locals may notice no more stray cats at Boardman Stadium and IGA. A small group of dedicated volunteers - both independent and belonging to multiple rescue groups - trapped these cats, placed them in foster care, and around 60% so far have been adopted out following vet checks, desexing, microchipping, vaccinating, flea and worm treatments, and months or even a year of socialisation to tame them. It was only today that the final IGA stray was captured and she is now safe and will be off to the vet shortly. This effort has cost in excess of $10K and the good work can easily be undone by well-meaning but ignorant folks.

Rescues need community support to stop the cycle of unwanted kittens. If you see strays, please seek help to trap and rescue them. Sadly, ignoring the situation leads to terrible outcomes. Feeding them with no plan to remove them is merely killing them with kindness. Most local vets are amazing and if you find or trap a cat and bring them to the clinic, they will reach out to rescue. Together, we can minimise cruelty and suffering to these unfortunate animals.

If you have time and love to give, please consider becoming a foster carer. If you can't foster, maybe you can volunteer, or adopt, or donate. Your local rescue groups will greatly appreciate your help.

Thank you, ARC! Thank you, volunteers! Thank you, sponsors! ❤️😽

Recently we collected a generous carload of wet food, treats, and some cute blankies. It couldn't have come at a better time with us having many adults in care who need socialisation before they can be put up for adoption. These long-termers cost a lot of money to care for and this donation has helped alleviate the burden of food costs, but also given us the very handy tool of treats to help cats learn to trust and love humans!

The team at Oscar's appreciates the support so very much!

Today sees us celebrate our 100th adoption! 🥳

Congratulations to Misty, a stray mumma who came to us from Woodend with her 3 kittens.

Misty was very lucky that she decided to shack up in a kind single dad's yard who spotted them and took them inside to keep them safe from the local fox. Thank you, Peter. You are the hero who saved this little furry family's life, and we wish everyone was as kind as you! As the saying goes, not all heroes wear capes.

Thank you so much to the adopters, carers, volunteers and donators! Without your support, we would not be here celebrating this milestone ❤️
