Over the last few weeks we have had Remi come in to see us for a squinty eye.
After looking into the eye with our special Ophthalmoscope Remi was diagnosed with a Corneal Ulcer.
We trialed some medication which the ulcer resisted, so yesterday we performed a Third Eyelid Flap procedure.
The third eyelid is stitched close to act as an 'eyepatch' to allow the eye to heal without further damage occurring. After 2 weeks Remi will be back to visit us to get the stitches out and hopefully the eye will have fully healed!

FireWorks🎆
With New Years Eve around the corner it is important to keep in mind that fireworks will be popping off! Most pets find the loud noises of Fireworks quite distressing, so here are a few tips to help get your pets through it:

- make sure your pet is safe and secure, ideally indoors (lots of pets end up missing when trying to escape the noise)

- if possible be home with your pet or arrange for someone to be home

- if you are unable to be home or have your pet indoors ensure your pet has a collar with a contact number and/or address

- remain calm and perform your normal activities. Avoid fussing over your pet excessively as this may encourage anxious behaviour

- put on some soft music or the TV to help mask the noise outside

A reminder that while the holidays are a time for sharing, some things are better left off your pet’s plate!

🚫 Avoid sharing these foods as they can be toxic to pets and/or cause choking and upset stomachs:

- Bones & fatty trimmings
- Chocolate & sweets
- Onions, garlic, and seasonings (common in stuffing and gravies)
- Alcohol and desserts

Yesterday Kevin one of our previous Puppy Schoolers came back and spent the day with us to have a desexing surgery.
He has grown so much since our last Puppy School class!

Want to de-sex your male dog but don't want to go through surgery? Chemical castration is an option! Little Frank here (who is so adorable!) spent a morning with us last week getting a Superlorin implant put in. Only a mild sedation is needed, and Frank got a lot of cuddles from nurse Macey🐾
