Health & Safety Update 🐾

We wanted to let all our clients know that due to recent parvovirus cases in Seymour (please head over to Starting Over Dog Rescue https://www.facebook.com/100064781556318/posts/990745886428121/?mibextid=r5uJeJ) we are temporarily suspending inspections and walk-throughs to ensure the continued safety of all our guests.

As a precaution, please be mindful of your footwear and travel routes leading up to your pet’s stay with us, to help avoid any potential exposure to our establishment. We appreciate your understanding as we work to maintain a safe environment for everyone and our guests.

Parvovirus Alert: 6 Cases in 3 Weeks in Seymour!

From one of our vets:

"Dear valued client,
We are emailing to notify you that we have seen a shocking amount of
parvovirus in Seymour in the last 3 weeks. At this point in time, we have
seen 6 cases in the last 3 weeks.

Parvovirus is a highly contagious and potentially deadly virus that
primarily affects puppies and unvaccinated dogs.

WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND GETTING ALL YOUR DOGS VACCINATED
AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Unvaccinated: is any animal that has never been vaccinated in their life
or their vaccination has lapsed.

Adult dogs should get vaccinations annually and puppies should get
vaccinations at 6 weeks, 10 weeks and 14 weeks of age. If any of these
are missed, the pet is defined as unvaccinated and is vulnerable to the
parvovirus.

All affected that we have seen in the last 3 weeks live in Seymour and
range from 14 weeks to 5 years old.

We have seen:
 4 month old with no vaccination history
 10 month old with no vaccination history
 1 year old with no vaccination history
 5 year old that only had some of their puppy vaccinations
 14 weeks old that only had their 1 st vaccination at 6 weeks
 1 year old with no vaccination history
WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND GETTING ALL YOUR DOGS VACCINATED
AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Parvovirus Symptoms to watch for:

Vomiting
Diarrhea (often bloody)
Lethargy
Loss of appetite

Costs Involved:
 Vaccinations $110 - $120 per vaccination

 Treatment of Parvovirus with no guarantee of survival
o Victorian Central Veterinary Group: in excess of $5, 000
before referral. Referral is necessary.
o Melbourne Referral Clinic: up to $11, 000
o Heartache and sadness for you and your family.
o The loss of your family pet.
o Contamination of your yard for up to 10 years.

Prevention is key! Ensure your dog is up to date with vaccinations—this
is the most effective way to protect your furry friend.
While we do everything we can to save lives, parvo can be devastating.
Protect your pet and your wallet by vaccinating today."

Had the purrfect time at my paw-rents’ wedding in the beautiful Yarra Valley! 🌸💍 I was there to make sure their big day along with my big brother Riku, was extra paw-some and full of love (and treats, of course)! Congrats to the wonderful couple 😻 🐕
