How awesome is this!
Well done Q’dell for the work you put into all the horses, results are being seen! 💪🏼🤩 what a champ - not a lot of young blokes get in and have a crack at the scary stuff now days, it’s good to see!
The foals need it! How awesome she can accept a rug so quickly thanks to Q’dell 😊🐴
Hood and all! Obviously this is for training purposes not her actual rug!
We all start somewhere! Q’dell having a crack with the youngstock teaching them that all life events are not that scary!
You know you’re doing a good job when scary life obstacles are more interesting than scary!! 🐴💗
Desensitising with the babies
I was skeptical to post this, still am. But I did say I’d show you more… I know theres a lot going on that some people won’t agree with, but when you’re with the horses in person and only a few metres away it is LESS Dramatic than what comes to the eye when watching videos ! 🫶🏼
If you do look closely all horses are able to break away/get relief quite easily and quickly if they ended up in a situation where they needed to. And they are not left to be on their own!
Q’dell had a crack today at showing the foals the tarp, it’s super scary and daunting the first time but after an initial 5minutes they really are not worried about it at all!
And truthfully if you think about it, when kids do pony club they throw/pass things around and I NEED these horses to be quiet when they are older if they plan to be future kids horses. They do LESS damage to themselves and those around them whilst they are little, plus they tend to learn more quickly and efficiently !! I like introducing all this scary stuff whilst they’re little, they grow with the ‘scary’ stuff from a young age. 😊💞🐴
We only worked with them for 10-15 minutes really (if that?) because I believe short stints every day seems to be working better than a whole day of work. They are let off to go run around and be together each afternoon/night to be horses.
Realistically, it’s just like going to school then going home later? 🤩🐴🫶🏼💗
This weekend when both Trent and I are together we can work on their feet and tidy them up a bit! Preparing them for our awesome farrier so he can do a good thorough job on them. The last thing I want is for him to get hurt! So we must teach the foals to pick their feet up, hold for a short period of time and accept the noises of rasps and tools clinking and clanking.
Sevvy Boy!
How amazing is he looking…!!!
This horse is honestly such a trooper with the best work ethic. You ask, he does! 😊❤️ I am so in love with my Sevvy boy. He’s really helping me chase and reach my goals more and more each day. He’s been the ultimate project so far and I am so lucky to be the one working with him.
Layla is still Mid Clip with him 🤣 she’s done a great job and he doesn’t even move an inch being clipped!
Thank you Sevvy Boy ❤️😊
Warmbloods
Kodak and our other Warmblood mare with Mia and Q’dell!
We are homing said Warmblood x ISH mare (we haven’t quite given her a name really) she’s in moderate work, you Can just pull her from the paddock get on and go really. She’s a little on the forward/performance side so suit someone that can confidently ride with a good seat. Shes leggy and all back end movement - like a leggy show jumper!
Shes a cheapy for what she has to offer
$2000.00 ❤️
Mia is a competent 14yr old rider (red shirt)
Q’dell working well with Kodak, still getting a feel for the show horses 😇
Float Training
The most scariest thing in a horse’s life, ✨ THE FLOAT ✨
We’ve all had a horse that’s been absolutely mental about a float, I’ve had horses literally flip out and break floats because they were so scared of them.
Never to make a mistake again with a troubled loaded for myself or anyone one, all my youngsters are taught to float and self load!
I HATE floating, I hate being in there with the horses, I hate knowing one bad move and it’s you, a tight space and a flight reaction from a big horse - yeah nah 🤪 not for me!
I’ve been loading echo since he was 6months old. He self loads, he will load himself even if the float is not hooked up, is open and he’s in the same yard as it… he knows that it’s a safe comforting space and he’s always rewarded when he is on!
For the babies, being unhandled they really are so so willing ! I’ve been working solidly with them the past week and what a difference in them I’ve seen!
Now they’re all happy to just go in and suss the float out.
I do leave food around - it’s a reward.
I don’t lock them in for the first few sessions, I let them take their time, I let them run off (secure yard) we just do it again, they are free to go in/out as h they please. They do not need to stay on if they don’t want to when they’re learning ❤️
I have found nothing but success with my way of float loading. I don’t lunge around the tail gate, I don’t make a fuss when they’re away from the float. I just encourage them to figure it out themselves. 💞✨ it’s not something you can rush!
General
How could you NOT want this horse…
He has had quite a while off, he’s in paddock condition, hasn’t been ridden or touched for months now.
Hope and Q’dell can just annoy the absolute crap out of him and he just takes it !!
He’ll be back In A few weeks and back in work to look for his next home! ❤️😊
Not for a beginner, but he’s a very tolerant horse!
Suit any discipline you wanted. Has done shows, been ridden by complete beginners under supervision, fang about on him. He does it all
Desensitising with the babies
Desensitising with the babies!
One of my favourite things to do, teaching the youngstock how life works. Things are scary but it’s how you react to it is what determines if it’s actually scary or not!
It’s hard to believe all of these guys were practically unhandled when we got them (minus Skie she had some handling prior)
They’ve come leaps and bounds!
I’m in the process of breaking echo in now too 🫣🤩
He’ll be gelded over the next week or so.
Anyways this is what they have all been up to! 😊❤️
Future kids horses, hopefully !!
