Steve Byrne Cutting Horses has bred and trained cutting horses alongside his family for years. In 2017 Steve was the NCHA Open Futurity Co-Champion and, over the past 15 years, has been a multiple-aged event winner and finalist.

This year Steve was the only Australian judge at the 2023 NCHA Australian Futurity, and prior to his judging commitments, Horse Deals asked him what it is he looks for during a cutting run and how it is scored.

We had a great show in Armidale last weekend! The non-pro team Byrne got amazing results!

⭐️Daniel Gorman Horsemanship, was 4th in the rookies with THIS CATS GOT CHROME with a 73

⭐️Claire won the $15,000 NP on Alphacat on his first run back after 2 year break with a 74 while Liv Vickery and MR ROYAL BOON aka JD placed 4th with a 72,5 and Guy Monvoisin and EBS COOLATAI 8th with a 71 in the same event

⭐️Guy had 4 runs and got 71 and above in every event, his 74 got him a 3rd place in the Novice Non-pro

⭐️Mark Ranger (Mr Armidale!) placed 5th in the NP 4yo with BOONS CATTALOU

FOR A START ASAP

We are looking for an energetic, motivated, keen to learn person to come and help at our facilities in Dungowan NSW, (just outside Tamworth).

Duties include (but are not restricted to):

✅ Looking after our and client horses (feeding, rugging, catching, saddling, washing,...)
✅ Exercising and loping horses
✅ General barn cleaning duties
✅ Travel to cutting shows
✅ Looking after the place if we are away
✅ General farm duties

This is a live-in position, accomodation is provided, driver's licence required (own vehicle recommended), salary based on experience.
