I’ve been a little preoccupied lately with some exciting things happens around the farm. With the feed lot slowly getting cleaned up and winter set in, I’m able to burn off some of the stumps.

I’ve been able to make a start on some more cleaning for paddock for grazing.

And the best news yet,

THE LITTLE ONES ARE HERE. MAYHEM AND MADNESS ARE ON THEIR WAY

I keep forgetting about posting on here, mainly as work has picked up but this rain has slowed me down a little bit again 😂

The little holding yard is currently a big puddle of mud and the feed lot isn’t far off yet. But it’s slowly getting cleaner and cleaner.

Currently waiting for the rain to die off so I can burn the last stump out and finish leveling it.

So went and picked the sheep up today due to needing em for tomorrow, but in the time they’ve been there, they’ve completely eaten out the small outdoor area that was over grown with quite a few weeds and old veggies as well as having made a dent in the backyard that was a foot or two deep with grass.

The owner can now access both areas with a mower to neaten everything up.

Well Christmas break is over for me and the sheep, the Suffolk I’ve bought, have lost weight nicely (they where a little too fat which usually isn’t a problem 😂)

Everything is slowly getting cleaned up nicely, the next job will be flattening everything out, I’ve gotta replace a fence with a post and rail style, from there we will be sweet to start building the yards !

Gday everyone, I currently have bulk raw (mutton) feed for dogs available from muscle meats, bones and skull to hooves and organs, delivery or pick up is available as well, if your interested please feel free to message or call.

Can be diced up and deboned or left on, perfect to add to your dog diet. Or if you wish to go that extra mile for a nice summer treat, slow cooking the bones and creating a bone broth to pour over the rest of their dinner.

I really should think about making these organic, environmentally friendly lawn mowers available for hire 😂😂

Again I’ve been relatively quiet, ended up having to have emergency surgery on the weekend, and then the next day had to pick these guys up.

A little bit more variety and harder sheep for the more experienced dogs. The next thing to do will be a pickup of all the rubbish to clean the area up, and building a small square yard with a race for backing training.

Gday everyone.
Just realised I never really gave a price list for anything I offer. I’m trying to keep the price as low as I can to make this accessible for as many people as possible, while also being viable to keep me going. In the future these may change but I will let everyone know before hand.

For the enrichment and stock fun, it’s $100 the first time and $50 afterwards for recurring visits. This covers me, the stock and some feed for them.

For the moment it isn’t time based, we work off of the engagement of the dog and stress levels of the stock. It usually works out to be roughly an hour and half. With a break in the middle for to go over the dogs behaviour and explain the movements of stock and any questions you may have, as well as come up with a plan if there’s any behavioural concerns you want to go over.

I do offer to come out to you as well. The prices are most set on distance unfortunately due to the price of fuel but start at $60. This is usually offered for dogs with behaviour issues around the home the owner would like help with, but I am able to do more such as basic obedience such as not running through the door when first opening it.

If there’s anything you’d like to discuss please feel free to message ☺️

I’ve been quiet on here for a little bit, and the reason for that is we’ve had some unexpected news, we had a lamb born that was rejected and is now being bottle fed, from the main little mob(in the maiden ewes who weren’t meant to be joined but somehow snuck in) and just today the old girl has also dropped some twins for us !

06/11/2023

This one’s a bit different, I’m looking for people who have experience with dingoes that maybe looking for a new one to join them, if some please message me and please feel free to share this out.

With Christmas coming up, it’s always a good time to remind people that dogs should never be a gift to young ones, they are a massive massive responsibility.

While they are amazing at alleviating stress in us, the pressures of full time care and training while school is going on can easily become overwhelming especially depending on different breeds.

This post is not to shame, but to help create thought around pets and children. If you do have kids wanting a dog for Christmas or as a gift and want to show them what it’s like taking care of their daily needs please feel free to message or comment to set up a time where they can experience taking care of a dog before they receive one to help understand the care required for a healthy dog

With the rise of Parvovirus occurring around the Hunter area, could everyone please make sure that if they bring any pups they have had the correct vaccinations.

Just returned home, and it’s safe to say the dogs were keen to see me, and that Bear must of missed me as he’s broken another chain tie down spot.

Honestly looking forward to the day he gets a crate he can’t get out of.

With the help of Bear today, we caught ourselves a new goat.

Someone had an issue with a rangeland goat getting into their horse feed, so we headed out to see if we could give a hand.

The owner put the horses into a stall as horses, donkeys and mules can all aim their kicks and could easily be the end of bear.

Sent the big fella round the wily creature and the goat wasn’t having any of it, dived under the gate into the horses stall, called bear off while the goat was running under the stall gates and put him into a down stay safely away from the horses, grabbed a rope and the owner of the horses managed to sneak a rope round the goats horns.

From there we dragged the goat to the side of the stall, released the horses and contained the goat. Who is now followed one of our pregnant ewes around.

One of the biggest things, if you have both horses and dogs is to educate both to respect each other. A lot of time and patience to set your dog up for success, without the prior training and control this could very easily have become a disaster for me or the owner of the horses, and why a reliable well trained stock dog is a key part of livestock work.

Had an awesome day, with three very different dogs coming out in the morning and early mid day. Hope everyone enjoyed their time here ! And hope to see you all again !

Socialisation for pups and older dogs.

Most people assume it’s there to help your pups meet new doggy friends.

That for me is not the goal, good socialisation is teaching your dogs to be calm and confident in new situations and surroundings.

This allows for the safe introduction of new dogs and new people without causing issue.

One of the biggest questions to ask yourself when getting a dog is “how will the dog fit into my life?” Instead of asking “how will the I fit the dog into my life?” The difference with these two questions is picking a dog breed suitable to your lifestyle and what you want to use the dog for, companionship, sports or working.

Asking yourself this instead of trying to make the dog work for you will make the transaction of bringing your new dog home so much easier. This also goes for rescue and shelter dogs, as the breed or breeds that make up the dog will inform you on how genetic traits may possibly be expressed
