Its been busy here with client horses in training.
A slight change of discipline training for Linda in developing this lovely draft x tbred gelding for vaulting.
This lovely 10yo gelding has taken to vaulting training like he has read the book. He is an absolute delight to train and so lovely to ride and handle also. The vaulting horses are trained both riding and lunging to ensure they muscle, balance and self carriage development is very even in all paces.
Linda competed in the finall working equitation competition in Queensland for 2024 completed in Toowoomba this weekend
Darling Downs Working Equitation club hosted the final HOTY this weekend and had record entries.
Congratulations to the committee for pulling it all together and having so many amazing sponsors on board supporting this wonderful discipline.
Linda competed 2 stallions this weekend
Morgan stallion RanchBoss Cortez was reserve champion Consagrados 1 and a member of the champion cattle team. Managing to pen his cow with the help of great teamwork from my fellow team members. This was only the second time Cortez has done the cattle phase.
Quarterhorse stallion, Sugar Coated Badger, owned by Sunrise Quarter Horse Stud was Champion Debutabte Fly level and a member of the fastest team in the speed relay on saturday night.
The relay was a blast. Costume theme for the class was halloween and we were the ghost riders. Huge thanks to Linda's fellow team members Ruth White and Linda Hingst for helping bring the win home with the fastest time.
It was a great test run for the ANWE National championships in Tamworth in just over 4 weeks for both horses. Both horses will again be competing in 4 phases at Nationals.
Dressage 2B Shore is very proud to be once again sponsoring the trophies for the ANWE QLD Hi Point Training Levels of Introductory and Preparatory.
Final placings will be calculated after the last HOTY competition for 2024 at the Darling Downs Working Equitation event in just over a weeks time.
We have asked Uneek Countree Creations, based in Cordalba Qld, to produce the trophies this year.
Each level winner will receive a set of these lovely insulated bottle and cups
Looking forward to presenting them to the winners at Toowoomba next Sunday.
Once again this year Linda has been privileged to train and compete the beautiful quarterhorse stallion Sugar Coated Badger, aka Franklin, in working equitation. This year we stepped him up 2 levels from Preliminary to Debutante F which required flying changes. As usually Franklin met the challenge with ease.
Sugar Coated Badger rode super this weekend at the ANEW QLD championships at Nanango to take out Debutante F champion.
Loved his stylish but fast speed round. So much fun.
Many thanks to Sunrise Quarter Horse Stud Sunrise Quarter Horse Stud at Cordalba, owned by Sharon and Wayne Dickson for once again trusting me with their beautiful stallion.
Franklin and Linda have 2 more events coming this year. The Darling Downs Working Equitation championships in October at Toowoomba and the ANWE National championships at Tamworth in November.
Linda and Franklin have also been selected on the Queensland State team for National championships.
Enjoying the training with our weanling morgan x welsh/warmblood filly Lyka who is by morgan stallion RanchBoss Cortez.
Very happy with her progress today in being relaxed and interested with the weird things i wave around her
She has turned into a bit of a carrot treat monster tho. She really knows what it means when my hand goes into my front pocket
When the first lesson in long reins for a young horse goes this easy and well, gotta be happy and feel confident about his future.
Always interesting when we get a super big young horse in for training. Can really go either way. Fortunately this big boy, who at just 2.5yo is well over 16hh, is a very soft sweet horse who takes it all in his stride and learns fast.
Really enjoying teaching him.
Asolute proud breeder/trainer moment to see the lovely homebred, 9yo, gelding Rivers Rockin It, aka Rocky, do his first full working equitation course with his owner today at Samford.
Rocky is by IHB Rio de Janero out of a Northern Classic mare.
