While Dee stopped into the facility we took the opportunity to get Scooby, Kevin and Luna out for a quick run in the yard before it got too hot for them.

We've got some zoomies, kisses and belly rubs for your viewing pleasure!

All three of these gorgeous babes are available for adoption and are located in East Maitland.

If you're interested in meeting any of these kids, please contact the facility at 0499 900272 or email [email protected]

Happy Sunday everyone!

Unfortunately as Dee has been away most of the week, we don't have our usual "Week That Was" video, but you know we couldn't NOT do Sunday Sangas!

The last dog in our Sangas line-up may be upsetting for some viewers (probably pretty much all of you) and you know we can't end on a sad note, so we've added a video of Luna having fun up at the yard, as well as her meeting Kevin and Scooby for the first time.

Thank you for watching and we hope you'll follow along for Rex's recovery journey.

Stay safe everyone.

Until next week šŸ––šŸ»

Introducing Luna!

Luna is a Neapolitan Mastiff x born 21st August 2023.

Luna was brought in to us as a stray, unfortunately the chip details were out of date. Our manager was able to find her owner, however their response to being told of her whereabouts was "good riddance".

When Luna was brought into the facility she was incredibly scared and for everyone's safety she was brought in on a catch pole. Before long Dee was able to break the ice with her and she's slowly began to trust more & more people. We're now starting to see more of her true personality shine and she's shown herself to be an incredibly sweet girl who LOVES toys and can be a real snuggle bug once she gets to know you. Luna will often roll on her back for belly rubs and gets excited when she finds a good stick.

As Luna is still learning to trust humans, she will need a patient and caring owner to help continue her rehab journey. Because of this, we feel she would be best suited to a home with no children, as they may be too overwhelming for her.

Luna tested well with both large & small dogs. She can be a little shy when they first meet, but once she's settled she play bows and turns into a wiggle monster. She has also been unreactive when other dogs snapped at her. We believe Luna would be suitable to live with other dogs, or be a spoilt "only child" at home. If you have a friendly dog at home we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.

Luna seemed unfazed cats & kittens. All of our cat testing is through an enclosure, so these results may vary if a cat is free roaming in front of her.

Unfortunately Luna does show a little too much interest with pocket pets, so we are recommending a home with no smaller animals like chickens & rabbits.

Luna has shown no signs of separation anxiety or food aggression towards humans while at the facility.

Luna's adoption fee includes her des*xing and lifetime registration.

Luna has been treated for flea and worms and is up to date with her vaccinations.

To enquire more or to meet Luna, please call 0499 900 272 or email [email protected] and speak to one of our friendly staff.

Luna is currently located in East Maitland.

šŸ¾Adoption UpdatešŸ¾

David has sent us a new year & gotcha day update on his beautiful girl;

"Hard to believe 3 years have gone since we rescued this gorgeous girl, Sheila. That first pic was her file photo from CCACF.
How could you NOT fall in love with that face?
Still living the doggie dream out on the road working with me, a super social bunny with all her friends. She's 8 1/2 now and still very much a puppy at heart šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°šŸ„°
Santa asked her what she wanted for Christmas....all she said was "treats"
šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
Happy New Years to all at CCACF āœŒļø"

Happy gotcha day sweet girl!

šŸ¶ Janienā€™s Journal šŸ¶

Happy Australia Weekend! I hope whatever you choose to do, you do it safely and have heaps of fun. Hopefully we will have lovely weather ā€¦ for a change.

I can happily say that Dee and Don headed off yesterday for some well-deserved R&R.

I want to quickly say that our little skinny mange Staffy, we call him ā€˜Rexā€™ is doing remarkably well and is full of all that Staffy personality, he certainly likes to chat. I do want to say thank you to everyone who has reached out either wanting to foster, wanting to donate to him, wanting to bring him food, just wanting to see how he is, thank you. The kindness and generosity of people always brings us such joy when we share with you the terrible photos and share the story of dogs and cats that have faced such cruelty.

When I look at young ā€˜Rexā€™ I see my beautiful old boy Jack in him. Jack my big olā€™ American Staffy came in, with Zada, as an emaciated, deaf, 11 year old dog. Jack and Zada had been left in a house .. to starve to death. When I look at ā€˜Rexā€™ I see a smaller version of my Jack, but I think when his hair grows back, he will be the same dark brown with white markings as Jack and so ready to start his new life with someone special.

I also want to say thank you to everyone for all their kind words, my last two Journalā€™s have definitely been ā€˜not so cheerfulā€™ and I have taken all your comments on and they mean so much to me, and all the Staff and Volunteers. It can sometimes be hard to just brush of the hurtful comments, as much as we do try.

This will be a much shorter chat today, the attached video (itā€™s shorter as well) is all about Loki (sorry no Barney in this one). We knew the boys could not stay at the Facility for too long, for broken dogs like them it is just not the environment for their long-term rehabilitation journey and unfortunately being a Pound we do not have infinite time like Rescue Groups do for their animals to be able to stay. Before anyone jumps on this, I will say their lives were never in danger ā€¦ and never will be.

We feel good that we were able to get them to see kindness and understand that not all people are cruel. They no longer want to bite out of fear and we could sit and pat them and just be with them without them being terrified.

I do hope you enjoy. As always, much love and thank you.

Inaction is defined as "lack of action where some is expected or appropriate."

On Monday we were all witness to the horrendous condition one of our strays came in with.

This wasn't just one or two days of inaction, but weeks.. months.

Not only was he literally nothing but skin & bone, he was covered in mange to the point where he has almost no fur, his nails were so long it made it hard for him to walk and he had issues with his p***s being stuck out.

Not only does this fall back onto his owner, but on everyone who knew of his situation and chose to do nothing.

Even though he had been treated in this inconceivable way by the humans he loved the most, he remains trusting and loyal to the human race.

We NEED to have the courage to stand up to inaction that occurs around us every day. No animal deserves to be treated this way

šŸ¾ Foster Care UpdatešŸ¾

Rubble has been back with Pete for a week now and he had settled back in beautifully!

We thought we'd put together a little video/slideshow of some of this weeks antics.

As you'll see in the video, Rubble has learnt "shake" a bit too well.

With the storms last week he helped Pete prepare for a night without power. Candles, torch and a puppy dog with his favourite bunny toy.

He did pretty well during the storms. At its worst, he wedged himself behind the sofa for a while, but otherwise he just became even more cuddly than usual during the storms.

Rubble is still on the lookout for his forever family. If you're interested in meeting Rubble, please contact the facility on 0499 900272 or email [email protected]

His adoption fee has been reduced to $200 and he is in foster care in the Hunter region

Our Story

We are a dedicated team of animal lovers, desperate to secure loving homes for animals that deserve a second chance at life. We work closely with other pounds near and far to ensure as many re-homable* animals as possible can be saved. We are a no kill facility who also currently house the Central coast Pound.

Our director Dee, started in animal rescue in 2013 and is a keen advocate for responsible pet ownership, surrounded by an equally devoted team and group of volunteers, who go to extraordinary lengths to ensure all animals go to the right home. Working alongside local businesses spanning the entire Central Coast region, it is our goal to have all animals chipped and identified, while educating pet owners of the responsibility of pet ownership, unwanted litters and timely vet intervention.

100% of donations go directly towards the care of animals housed at the facility as well as transportation of animals at high kill shelters. The transport costs and unforeseen vet bills do account for many expenses and without the help of volunteers we would be unable to save as many animals as we currently do. We look forward to expanding to rescue many more animals who through no fault of their own have found themselves alone, unloved and some with only weeks to live.
