Reactivity Group COMPLETED 🐾 🔥

5 weeks of group sessions that could’ve gone one way or the other with 6 reactive dogs…

Super proud of all of my clients who took this leap and trusted me with this idea!

It’s incredible seeing these dogs from day 1 meeting Misty to where they are now, hard work pays off and I’m so happy for every one of my clients and their dogs.

Congratulation - Cheddar, Chloe, Rudolph, Bobby, Stacey, Flash!

It’s not the end of the road, and reactivity takes ongoing training to manage but, the confidence from these sessions will now give these dogs a little more freedom out there 🤩

❗️Please remember, to keep your dogs on lead around other on lead dogs, in on lead areas, and when on lead - not every dog wants yours rushing and barging over to them. Be understanding and responsive to requests from other owners. Nobody cares if your dog running to an on lead dog is “friendly”, we only care for the wellbeing of our own dogs and friendly dogs are often the biggest cause of problems, be sensible and kind❗️

Lick Mats‼️‼️

Those that know me will know I LOVE using lick mats for training.

Why?

🔅Entertainment and enrichment. Keeping dogs busy and reducing boredom
🔅Anxiety relief. Through releasing cortisol and dopamine, licking is a natural way to help calm an anxious dog
🔅Slower eating and cleaner mouths. Thanks to the grooves in these mats, dogs have to work harder to get the food from them, helping to clean their teeth and tongue in the process
🔅Training tool. As an easy way to reward your dog, lick mats can be used for distraction and positive association training

I also have my own Tricky Dog Training lick mats available for purchase on my website (or during sessions).
💰 For a limited time, you can purchase 2 lick mats for $20 instead of $30 with the code “2for$20”💰

Head to my website to redeem yours! 🐶 🐾 https://trickydogtraining.com.au/

Sweet little Mochi is a 5 month old rescue Frenchie through No Pup Cleft Behind Inc. who save purebred pups from euthanasia due to deformities at birth.
This girl was raised by hand from day 1, has had surgeries to fix a cleft palate and is now thriving in the most loving adopted home!

Mochi’s mum got in touch for some help with Mochi’s socialisation and yesterday we had our first session together.

A reminder that you can get a rescue, pure bred puppy all at the same time 🤩

What a cute girl 😍

Group Reactivity Sessions! 🎉

Such an exciting way to start 2025🐾 Being able to offer and begin the next step for my reactive clients following on from their 1:1 reactivity sessions, exposing to more dogs, in a calm, controlled and supportive environment.

All 6 dogs (and their humans) did so well with this first session, we had lots of fun engaging and focusing individually on play and relaxation.

The sit down station was definitely a hit on this sunny morning overlooking the river 😍🤩

Meet Leena 😍

Isn’t she just the most adorable little girl you’ve ever seen, melty eyes and a big cuddle bug.

But, Leena has been struggling with some reactivity towards other dogs, with a broken shoulder following one walk for her owner, urging them to reach out to me.

Through some basic lead walking training away from other dogs we have established a calm association with the lead, built on the bond between handlers and Leena herself and have recently introduced her to Misty - which by the end of the session ended with them walking side by side and Leena being able to stand nice and relaxed, confident and at ease in the presence of another dog.

There’s a long way to go for both Leena and her owners, with recovery and training but with just a couple of sessions, they are hopeful and confident that walks will become relaxed and enjoyable to get back out enjoying their favourite cafés like they once used to 💗

I’m back!! 👋🏼

After a fair stint away from Facebook (thanks to some good hackers trying to use my page for “selling” some vacuums.. 🙄 ) I’ve finally got access back and we’re good to start again!

Tricky dogs have still been training, graduating and making friends with Misty. So, stay tuned for some updates and get in touch if you think you have your own tricky dog in need of some help 🐾 💚

Good doggos at Bunnings Belmont for an information day for GAWA last Sunday.

I’ve been working with Apple for a while now and my word, he has been the most rewarding doggo to work with. From being extremely fear reactive of dogs, to now being able to go to Greyhound Adoptions WA’s events!
I got him out for an adventure yesterday where he got rushed at by 2 off lead dogs, the whole time thinking “oh sh*t this is going to undo everything we’ve been working on” but Apple stood still, let the dogs surround him, stayed composed and then started wagging and trying to play.
Those that know Apple, will know how incredible this was! And just another step towards overcoming his fear of dogs ❤️ (however… PLEASE if you do not have recall - don’t let your dog off lead!!)

Greyhound Adoptions WA’s are always searching for “hound hero’s” to foster, adopt and volunteer. So reach out if you think you may be able to help!

I visited April with beautiful foster girl Nicola on Tuesday to help with some confidence building outside and when walking. This was her yesterday 😍

Nicola is living with another dog and children, is perfect inside the house, sleeps all through the night and is a great family companion! If you’re looking for a new friend visit Greyhound Adoptions WA to chat more about who they have available.

Lami joined me today to reactivity test some of Greyhound Adoptions WA’s current fosters staying at the awesome, Paws Claws And Beaks Retreat !

Mocha, Rocky and Otis all passed with flying colours not taking any notice in the crazy pup trying as hard as she could to entice them into giving her attention ❤️

Video in the comments of Mocha ☺️

(Please note, prior exposure, redirection, training and professional handling was carried out before letting them be as close as they were and a muzzle was worn for safety)

🐾 Tricky Dog Update 🐾

Reggie

📣We did an excellent session at Lo Quay today. He was soooo good (lots of people and no dogs which was a good balance)

Not much barking at all. Much more pleasant. Just got back from a walk, came across a greyhound and I chatted to the owner. Reggie showed no interest at all. I dragged it out for about 5 minutes and he literally calmly lay on the ground with his back to the dog. I was so happy. Two other dogs with no reaction (a bit further away). Progress for sure.

Thanks Deanne for the update!
Absolutely love hearing about the hard work clients put in paying off 🥰

Puppy playtime.

Teaching your pup (or adult dog) new tricks and commands is a great form of bonding, way of improving communication and providing mental stimulation.

Time, simple and effective commands, short sessions and high value treats are all you need to build a responsive, respectful, clever and happy dog!

And of course - always have fun 😁🤪🐾

Welcome Lami to Tricky Dog Training 😍

Whilst away, Bobby and I saw this scruffy little face online in the care of Happy Tails Animal Rescue Inc. and decided to enquire… a couple of weeks later the aptly named Lamington arrived in Perth.

Lami’s story - her siblings and her where handed over to Happy Tails as an unwanted litter on a farm, starved and full of hookworm, this little pup had a big fight ahead of her. Brooke from HT’s and the foster carers who started Lami’s life off are amazing and we are so thankful for them saving her precious life!

Misty is still with us and is loving her new puppy 🤣

Life is going to be a super fun with this little adventure pup! ❤️❤️❤️
