As we progress through another storm season, being prepared is crucial. Your and your pets' chances of safely enduring emergencies like floods or cyclones hinge significantly on proactive emergency planning.

You can take several steps to brace for unforeseen events:

3. Stay informed about different types of emergencies that affect your area

In addition, we recommend establishing a pet care support network. Set up a buddy system with neighbours, friends or family to ensure your pets are cared for or evacuated if you cannot. Also, seek out pet-friendly shelter options, and always take your pets along in the event of an evacuation.

Queensland's local council websites and disaster dashboards are invaluable resources, providing crucial support to communities during and after emergencies. These dashboards update Evacuation Centre openings and locations, river levels, road conditions and closures, utility outages, and essential contact information.
