✨ HLR Sheez Deceiving Az ✨ aka Friday

As her colour is so deceiving & everyone was so split on Black or Brown, I pulled hair and sent it off for colour testing for an offical answer.

Dam- Lotsa Lira (Bay) x Sire- Crown M Savannah Dash (Brown) we had 87% chance of a bay foal, 12% chance of a black one.

We fluked EE/aa results (True Black & Homozygous Black) which was 9% chance of us getting both together.

We were all entered up for a barrel race Sunday that ended up being cancelled, so instead, a morning beach ride for Viper & Puff Man, who both have not seen water, or been ridden ba****ck.. (no proof shots as phones weren’t taken out for the ba****ck section incase we both ended up in the drink! 🤣) but they acted like old beach ponies that love water! 💦

I didn’t achieve all that I wanted in 2024, somethings didn’t go to plan and my 2024-2025 rodeo season took a turn with my 2 competition horses needing to take the back seat in the paddock, which felt like the end of the world to me. I’ve never been challenged to have a forced break, but I haven’t let my emotions go, I keep control of them and I don’t let my mind visit that negative place, because I know the universe has a plan, everything happens for a reason & 2025 is my year to slow down & smell the roses 🌹

I can’t help but think how blessed I am for the great seasons that I have had, the people I have in my corner, my special little team of horses and for this amazing life. This will not be the first or the last time this will happen, and thats okay. Because rodeo is not for the faint of heart, some days it will be kind to us and we will experience the high of our life. But when it’s not, we have to find joy in the process, even if that means starting from scratch.

If the wins alone are what we search for to set our souls on fire, we will never be happy and we will miss the journey completely. We truly do need to fall in love with the sport and enjoy the ride, or find a new hobby, and that has been a huge lesson for me in 2024, without my team I felt like i lost everything, goals, motivation, and almost the complete loss of interest in it all.

This sport has taught me how to believe in myself and bet on myself, it’s taught me how to be a good competitor, a good sport and even a good teammate, because after all, we’re all after the same thing. It’s taught me to never let the highs get too high or the lows too low & to love my animals unconditionally, because I’m nothing without them.

I have walked away from 2024 with so many blessings, personal growth, amazing friendships and even more lessons. I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t rough having a complete change of goals but it’s made me a better loser which has made me humble & thats made me even more grateful and better yet, it’s made me damn sure I’m ready for 2025 and whatever it will bring!

Springfield Park LaVeetah made her way to QLD & Springfield Park De’Maniah also made a big trip all the way to WA last week. We are wishing their new owners the best of luck with both these two!

Puff Man has had a BIG November going to his first lot of outings, between going to his first barrel race at Lyndoch to Barossa & Kapunda Rodeo and all the bits and pieces inbetween, he has just taken in everything I throw at him & loves it!

With my other two competition horses sitting out for this rodeo season (which sucks big time but these things happen) it gives Puffy 100% of my time and the whole gooseneck to himself.

When you own and breed horses there can be a lot of disappointment, times you feel like quitting and a lot of the time spending all your coin doing what’s best for them before what’s best for yourself, which can be tiring. But then you get days like this, it makes all the hard work, patience, time and view of the long term plan you put in place all worth while, keeping you moving forward doing it again & again, season after season.

HLR Tough Az (aka Puffy) finally made his first ever barrel race at Dash 4 Cash in Lyndoch Sunday. Theres plenty to figure out & so much more to learn yet, but this is where the highs and lows of seasoning babies begins!

It’s nice to be riding and training a home grown baby, makes it so much more rewarding, anyone who does it, knows!

✨ Peterborough, Bendigo & Yarra Valley ✨ The last week we have done some miles rodeoing!Peterborough last weekend, picked up a cheque in the breakaway, blondie cruised through in barrel race working on afew things then loaded up and drove to Bendigo Thursday, competed Friday then Yarra Valley Saturday and headed off through Melbourne Saturday night to get home Sunday with some very tired ponies! Tricky ground at both rodeos and Blondie handled it really well! Grateful for the beautiful places we get to travel through and to, the friends that turn into rodeo family & to our great horses that just make travelling down the road a dream! Placing & winning money while doing what we love is just a cherry on top! 🍒

🫶🏽 Opening run for the 2023-2024 season 🫶🏽 We just went for a poke around last Saturday at Marrebel SABHA to see where we are at from last season, let her pick her pace & for me to keep right out of her way. Safe to say after a 5 month freshen up, Blondie had all bases covered & showed up well for the team 🖤
